Which One Is For MeOriginally posted by nox2505 View PostCheck your bikes for following:
Engine oil recommended: Power1 or petronas sprinta (Mineral oils like Tru4 become mineral water
after 600 kms on warm engine and fail to seal the piston bore clearance)
Spark plug change interval: 3-4k
Carb setting: slightly rich (SVC fellas will always set it lean)
Valve tappet clearance:
Intake 0.06 and Exhaust 0.08 for higher highway use
Intake 0.07 and Exhaust 0.09 for higher city use(minute tappet noice)
Intake 0.08 and Exhaust 0.1 for signal races(tappets will scream)
if the SVC fella do not have tightened the tappet lock nut properly, clearance will decrease and bike will fall on face in top end, which is clearly felt in 5th gear.
tappet setting must be done by using gauge strips only. SVC fellas think it takes more time and set it by judgement.
Lean mix will result in more vibrations and excessive engine heatup, which kills the engine. Plus if you are running mineral oil and lower tappet clerances, that will add more masala to performance drop and RTR will perform like spledour/passion.
& how to check the setup & Get it done here most Service center guys knows only few they will not able to understand 0.6 & 0.8 so forget about setting

Which setting should i use, i have a K&N filter fitted on my RTR180. the tappet sound coms between range of 5000 and beyond if a drag it in lower gears. I am really pissed off. i took my bike to the SVC many times but couldnt find the perfect settings. I am using Petronas Sprinta 5000 10w30 fully synthetic. the bike has become very smooth and revs in more if compared to motuls 5100 15w50 which i used before. The vibes vanish at the starting 20km after the engine heats up they start again.Originally posted by nox2505 View PostCheck your bikes for following:

I'm facing problems with idle rpm. The bike idles at around 1.2-1.4k rpm at cold start but after a couple of kms it simply refuses to idle below 2.5k.
Do you guys have any idea why it happens. I have to either shut the engine or use half clutch at 1st gear to bring it to acceptable 1.5k rpm region.
Any suggestions. Thanks.
@WhiteKnight Isn't the grade supposed to be xW40 for apaches. Not sure if you should be using xW30 engine oils.कृपया यहाँ पर ज्ञान न बांटे

Bro jus kiddingOriginally posted by Garry_Menace View PostOh! I never knew that Water-cooled Engine means splashing some water externally onto the engine

Anyways, thats the basic thing even a kid can presume... thats why I mentioned doing that "AFTER 10 minutes break"(to let the engine get its temperature a bit lower). Just wanted to know that does the engine gets cooled enough to do that after 10 minutes break?

Right Front fork leaking oil
Hi Folks,
Just noticed to day that the right fork suspension ( on my rtr 180) is gently leaking oil. The chrome plated stroke is oily too. Likely some kind of a seal failure. Any idea on what the reason may be and what is the ideal correction step for this. Would like to know th e options before the service guy tries to rip me.
Thanks
Arvind

Remove the fairing and check all rubber gromets are in place. Use additional packing tape if required.Originally posted by shivank View PostThank you Nox for your advice.I've sent you my email id.Kindly check your inbox and mail me the DIY thread..
And anything about the noise from front..?
Running K&N without upjetting will result in lean mix. And if its not tuned well, there is problem+. Lean running results in more vibrations. If you are okay with regular performance and dont want tappet noise, go for 0.06 and 0.08. if you regularly ride in bumper to bumper traffic, go for 0.06 and 0.09 (there will be slight tappet noice from exhaust valve, but it will help in keeping engine cooler.Originally posted by whiteknight View PostWhich setting should i use, i have a K&N filter fitted on my RTR180. the tappet sound coms between range of 5000 and beyond if a drag it in lower gears.
