Not easy. Better check YouTube once. I guess there is a video on it.Originally posted by ankky247 View PostAny solution on it?? i live in pune here...but please dont tell me to go for tvs service centers, they are very annoying.
You need experience, if you don't have then you'll have to visit a mechanic.

But remember (as with everything): exercise caution and if you're not comfortable doing something, always go to a good mechanic. You may not get it perfect the first time, but try not to break anything. JS16's right: only experience will make you better. Do not attempt to do it without the proper tools. And you simply cannot get 0.06mm and 0.08mm right without a feeler gauge: insist that your mechanic use a feeler gauge (even if it hurts his pride :P ).
All the best to you. Happy RTR'ing!TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS + ADV Breed + TBG Street

Anabond grey gasket maker is ok-ok. Anabond Red is not good.Originally posted by suj View PostGuys!!! Loctite Grey gasket maker is better and has higher temperature rating. Bajaj uses loctite rtv and oil leak in bajaj bikes are rare.Go for loctite.
You should be able to purchase loctite grey and thread locker at any bajaj svc. Amazon will charge more and takes a lot of time for delivery.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I would suggest to stick to a mineral based oil because its better suited for the Rtr. But heating might be an issue.Originally posted by Ranjan Dey View PostI am planning to change change my engine oil to some other good brands..i dont wanna stick with that TVS oil..suggests some engine oil..my odo is now 7400.
Alternatively you can try engine oil with 10w40 grades. The drain interval might be between 1800 -2000 kms. There are loads in the market. I found Shell AX7 to be good enough. Never bothered to change it afterwards.
Also I can ask you to try and test out the Shell Rimula R4. I am using it on my Karizma and engine is butter smooth. Yes, it is a diesel engine oil but it ticks all the boxes for me. And the grade is 15w40 which I feel is the best suited grade for air cooled engines.
Lastly you can even opt for 20w40 grades. I would probably stay away from fully synthetic oils for the Rtr's which I believe is not so beneficial for the price and same drain intervals. I would rather buy 2 cans of mineral oil and drain it every 1000 kms. Again its just my honest opinion.
Others kindly throw the light on the engine oils you currently use on your machines. I would also like to understand the engine feel and your personal preferences. I for one would like to have smoother and peppy engine. I do not like sluggish and hard gears. So I believe that a 15w40 grade will be the ideal oil for air cooled engines. Hence my preference goes to Shell Rimula R4 or R2.Everybody has their own version of TRUTH!!!!!!

what is the cost and drain interval of shell rimula R4......Please share your experience with HDEO....Read a lot of good review about using HDEO in bikes especially in US where shell markets HDEO as Rotella.Originally posted by ajextreme View PostI would suggest to stick to a mineral based oil because its better suited for the Rtr.
