Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Today I searched for shell AX7 engine oil near my area, but couldn't find any shop who stocks this oil. I searched over the internet and I found one re-seller in amazon who is selling shell ax7 10w40 oil for INR 375. It might take around 15 days to reach my house. My service is due next week. So, I guess this time around I will use the tvs synthetic oil. From next service onwards shell oil.Originally posted by Mr_Many_Places View Post

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Glad that you are getting good service. It would have been better/worthwhile if you could share the details of your service center (with contact person if possible) so that it will be helpful for others nearby your location to avail such services. BTW AFAIK TVS SVC use chain sprays instead of grease.Originally posted by AMotoVlogs View PostWow! Really?
Just dropped my 160 in for service today, and since I'm usually aware of what is wrong with my bike, I tell them all the problems. There's this "test rider" they have over there that takes our bikes out for a small spin down the road, and comes back and tells the mechanic all the things wrong with the bike.
My sprocket was bent, that much I was sure of when doing regular maintenance myself. But I had a slight niggle of doubt about the clutch plate. So the guy took it out for a spin. Max RPM changes then a couple of turns and he was back. He told the mechanic, "Put in clutch plate, sprocket and fork vibration." Then he also added brake fluid and new bush for the back.
These guys are really good. I take the RTR in for small things before the actual service; stuff I can't fix at home myself. Like when I can't tighten the chain, I just pop by there, they do it in a couple of minutes and give. This SVCs speciality is for great service of RTRs. I have known 3 or 4 RTRs that had been in really really bad crashes and when they were done with the service or rebuild, it was as good as new!
My experience for the first service was also similar. Not just the oil change, grease the chain and stuff...
Well my logic in post is simple based on my experience. Everyone doesnt get the pleasure of luxurious treatment & for those who dont have its better to insist rather than hoping they might.

Shahbaz was a silent spectator of the Benelli 300 forum, and the questions he asked, and his level of interest, made me certain, he was head over heels for this. Congrats, Shahbaz Patel, hope it's niggle free and gives you miles of joy ride.
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'

Thanks mate
I have also ordered the shell ax7 from amazon. Do share your experience of the oil performance. Have the vibes gone down a bit? How does the engine feel?
By the way can you tell me, what is the fuel average I might get from rtr 160 if ridden within 50km/h?Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly. ~Author Unknown

andy0104 shell ax7 is a good oil buddy. The vibes will definitely go down and the bike will be more rev happy. I have used ax7 for 1800kms and i was impressed! However now my bike is running on MOTUL 5100 15W50 and i'm happy with it. The shifts are butter smooth and vibes have gone down too!
Motul is priced at Rs.550.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Vibrations in my rtr has reached another level :P The clamps of the screws which hold the semi fairing to the tank broke and it was rattling like an old truck.. Only options I had was either to replace the tank scoops (because the clamps were a part of the tank scoops) or stick them with feviquick :P I chose the latter.. Till now its holding well.
Anyway, how much do the semi fairing cost on the new model rtr's?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
This oil is good. If not the best. Better than the tvs oil but not not that good as the motul 5100. Vibrations have reduced quite a bit. If you going easily around 50-60 you wont notice a difference between tvs & ax7 oil. But whack open the throttle & it shows its true character. Very good feeling while doing 80-85. Vibes are there but less in comparison to 50kmph vibes.Originally posted by andy0104 View PostThanks mate

Motul 5100 being a much thicker oil than shell very much minimalises the vibrations to nil. Almost.
The thing with shell is you cant go hammer & tongs the moment you start the bike. It requires a minute to warm up. Ride 5-10 mins within 60. After that ride as your mind pleases you. andy0104 you can expect around 48-50 i think if you ride within 55. My friend gets 48 on his 160 although he is using the thicker motul 5100.TVS Apache RTR 180 (2014 - ….)

Thats some serious riding bro.
Keep onn riding.
I seriously believe someday earth's gravitational field will go bonkers due to the combined vibrations of our rtr's.
