Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I remember the days when I opt for a motorcycle and my first choice was RTR 180 white. Eventually I saved more money and went for a CBR. But still now I like the RTR 180 white the same way I found it on the first day.Originally posted by ajextreme View PostI had my rtr for 6 years. Did about 90000 kms on it before I sold it....

After reading such owner's review I really find this machine can keep promises. I will definitely suggest anyone to go with RTR in 150 or 180cc segments. And addition of ABS would bring a big smile on face at anytime.
My wish is to ride RTR 180 a day long and feel it, but the sad part is I don't have any known friends / family member who own this beast.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Well said. Upgrading to 300cc is quite balanced after riding a 180cc. What next? 600cc or 800cc.Originally posted by shahbaz63 View Postas long as you feel it is serving the purpose, no need of upgrade. TNT 300 is just a perfect upgrade for me after researching a lot, so went...
BTW what part you still found to be best on RTR over TNT? or none?

To be really really honest there is no comparison since both are from different category. but yes, RTR is very light compare to TNT 300 but again TNT 300 on road feels not more than 5-10 kg heavier than RTR or FZs of world.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Well i had to sold her because i was upgrading and needed money, thats why i had to let her go.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostEveryone has sold their RTR, is it only me who has kept it till now???

And the reason for upgrade is because i had outgrown the bike, i would rev her all the time and also having a cbr 250r(bro's bike), the outgrowning process only got faster.
Waiting for my rc 390 now.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
1000km update on Rimula R3x. Checked the oil today morning, the level is good & so is the oil. The colour is same golden. Seems there wasn't much in the engine to clean up as I always (barring a few times for AX7) use fully synthetic & change it around 2000-2500km. All these 1000km were done on highways (like Mumbai-Pune non-stop). I usually don't cross 80-85kmph, even on the straights so can't tell how the oil behaves at triple digit speeds. Can't find any noteworthy change from regular synthetic oils except for a slightly rough gear shifts. psr sir had recommended me R4 x, but the availability has become an issue for me. Mobil delvac super 1400 & Delvac Mx are available any suggestions on these oils B7ACKTHORN.Last edited by Traveller01; 09-24-2015, 12:15 AM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
You can try using the Mobil Delvac Super also...Your engine seems to be in good condition . Remember while comparing R3x or R4 with a FS,that it is a Mineral oil ...it can never be equal to a FS ...but sometimes it seems to give better results in some engines...Originally posted by Traveller01 View Post1000km update on Rimula R3x. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Thanks Sir, your inputs & guidance means a lot to me. This time I am interested in ZDDP, how is Mobil in that case? Is MX better than super 1400? I hope there wont be any clutch slippage.Originally posted by psr View PostYou can try using the Mobil Delvac Super also...Your engine seems to be in good condition . Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
There will be no clutch slip since most modern oil esp., Delvac MX does not have Molybdenum which is the cause for clutch slip....The Delvac has higher TBN which is good but the Sulfated Ash is slightly high...still I feel you can use it in place of Rimula R4 since both are CI-4 certified..meaning it can take higher temperature and higher load of soot in oil.Originally posted by Traveller01 View PostThanks Sir, your inputs & guidance means a lot to me. Thanks again Sir, will update here after I get one. Planning to use the present oil for an another 500km, in-between the search for R4x will continue.Originally posted by psr View PostThere will be no clutch slip since most modern oil esp., Delvac MX does not have Molybdenum which is the cause for clutch slip....The Delvac has higher TBN which is good but the Sulfated Ash is slightly high...still I feel you can use it in place of Rimula R4 since both are CI-4 certified..meaning it can take higher temperature and higher load of soot in oil. Here is the MSDS of Mobil Delvac MX oil..Mobil Delvac MX 15W-40

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I never thought that I would try a higher grade than 10W40 but tried out the Motul 5100 15W50. So here is my observations after 500km of city riding:-
Pros:- 1. Smooth gear shifts.( Gear shifted from 2nd to neutral automatically once, so far)
2. Smooth(er) engine. (A very debatable topic :P) Felt smooth at 40-50kmph.
3. Clutch felt lighter.( After oil is warm)
4.Oil does not evaporate easily. No dip in oil level even after 500km. As compared to AX7 and Ultra.
5. No noticeable change in FE. Was expecting a slight dip.
Cons:- 1. Cold start problem. Even in afternoon at 30-32 deg C. Strange!
2. Warming the oil take a lot of time. 5 min in the afternoons and way longer in the mornings.
3. Slightly on the expensive side. Its a SS at the end of the day.
