Changed my engine oil to gulf pride 4t plus 20w40...till now covered 300kms in that and my experience with this oil is just awesome!!!....never expected a mineral oil which just costed me rs 290 to perform so well..even motul 7100 didn't give me this amazing experience....engine runs stressed free, butter smooth gearshifts ,no over heating and lesser vibration....

Is the refinement as good as ax7 or is it better ??
Do update us when the oil feels old enough for a change.
Thanx.Last edited by Mr_Many_Places; 09-16-2015, 12:55 AM.TVS Apache RTR 180 (2014 - ….)

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I think it vll outperform any semi syn oil in the market....ax7 is a good oil till 1.5k kms....just try gulf once to feel the difference...no need to spend extra bucks on fs oils...be gentle on your engine and replace oil every 2k kms and your engine vll outlive you... here is my experience with following oilsOriginally posted by Mr_Many_Places View PostWow !!!

Motul 7100 20w50- revs nicely, nice gear shift
Motul 5100- same as 7100 but engine felt little bit stressed
Castrol power 1- had a very bad experience with this oil, rough engine and bad gearshifts.
Mobil 10w40-just awesome but hard to get one in my city
Gulf pride 4t plus- amazing
Shell ax7-just like motul 5100, but revs nicely

Which grade you used. is it 10w30 or 20w40. This is not a mineral oil and it is a Synthetic oil.Originally posted by suj View PostI think it vll outperform any semi syn oil in the market....ax7 is a good oil till 1.5k kms....just try gulf once to feel the difference...no need to spend extra bucks on fs oils...be gentle on your engine and replace oil every 2k kms and your engine vll outlive you... here is my experience with following oils

I looked into the site, it says the drain interval is 10,000kms. What the cost of this oil.Last edited by hemnath; 09-16-2015, 03:17 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
The front tire is the R15 version 2 ones. I dunno the exact model but the profile is 90/80 - 17. Awesome grip. The only drawback is speedo error increases as it is one profile lower than stock.
The rear looks like mrf zapper vyde. Both are good choices of tires.Everybody has their own version of TRUTH!!!!!!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I had got one of those on my rtr. Gives a soft spongy feeling. I would prefer it over any seat covers any day. Only thing I didn't like is it does not dry soon if it gets wet. I am not sure of the durability. I have used it for over 6 months without any wear and tear. Not sure abt it now as I have sold my rtr.Originally posted by pulsarized View PostGot Seat cover ( mesh type) . Not sure about the durability of this.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I had my rtr for 6 years. Did about 90000 kms on it before I sold it. Yes, it was hard to let it go. For me it was more of a wise decision to go for a bike that suited me. Hence landed up on the karizma r. The bike can do everything you ask of it.Originally posted by shahbaz63 View Post55,000 km and 3 years old... (Standing still since last 09 month for most of the time, covered only 1000 km in last 09 months), still no sign of age. Reliable as anything can be. no Major issue so far, all I do is change plastics here and there to make it look good :P
And I sold it yesterday... this is last week for me with Apache *Being Emotional*
She will be missed... my trusted companion... bid Adieu
My take on RTR's over 6 years of riding:
- the throttle response and acceleration is something to die for. I have not found any other bike in its segment anywhere closer to it.
- good revvy engine. Loves to be ridden hard. Brings a smile on your face. Wish it had more grunt at top end.
- nimble traffic carver. Just put on some good tires and the bike won't let you down as you zip past the traffic.
- good only if ridden solo. Due to short gearing nature of bike struggles with a pillion on board.
- vibrations is a big let down. But you gotta be ignore it as rtr's are known for vibration. Little more refinement would have done wonders.
- any modifications to the bike a big No No!!!! You will only compromise with the reliability of the bike. Newbies and other enthusiasts keep away from modifying the engine. Instead learn to accept what the bike can and cannot do. No point spending 10-15k for mere 20000 kms of fun. For more power and top end look at other bike options. The bike in itself is a complete package. Trust me when I say this, I have roughly spent about 75k INR and changed 4 engines. I was mad and crazy about top speed and power as I knew Rtr could do more. Now when I look back I could have probably picked a ninja 250 if I had saved that money and put a little bit of my savings.
There is more I can say.... But will leave it up to owners to find out more about their bikes. This will not only increase your knowledge but also make you wise and mature.

Agree... however, I feel RTR is now very outdated motorcycle in market.
