Totally agree with you. I have been using TVS bikes for past 4 years and I'm totally happy with their products. TVS is a very good company and I don't think they are making anything of low quality, whether it is oil, tires or Apache.Originally posted by karkai6 View PostThe RTR's Stock tyres are in no way crap... As in, if you see some riders complaining, one would think the tyres are unrideable... The same case goes with the Oil... If they were really that bad, the company wouldnt use them...
With the tyres, hard braking is not the only criterion in which to measure how good they are... RTR s tyres are not bad in the sense that one can lean to a good degree with proper throttle control, it would not give nasty surprises.. When the ARE came to Mumbai, most of the participants ran on TVS tyres, including myself. While none of us were blinding fast, the tyres allowed us a good margin of error. My throttle control was pathetic, as in, on-off throttle mid-corner etc. BUt as long as one is careful by not abusing the rear brakes, The TVS tyres can take a lot thrown at them, and they are definitely very good enough for road use.
The only difference I would say between better better tyres like the R15 ones or the IRC and the TVS ones, is the feel when one is leaned over at real high speeds. Speeds which are simply not possible on public roads. You would need a track to appreciate the differences between the two tyres. If you ride on a track, it will be eye-opening... the abilities of the R15 tyres...
But, on public roads, even with a reasonable amount of hard riding, it is very difficult to over-ride the TVS tyres capabilities.. They are not as bad as people portray them to be...

K & N filter fitting.
Hi all,
I know its been a lot in discussion, regarding the K and N filter in RTR180.
Me planning to get one installed on my machine.
Reliance autozone guys were fitting the same, they told me that they will check the compatiblity and depanding on the same they will do the installation, so its not any local garage mechanic who is going to do that.
Well i just want to know that installing the K&N will damage the engine, as it intake air a lot as compared to a regular filter.
I have already made my AF misture very richer, but need more pickup.
Has any one felt any drastic change in pickup and top end speed after K&N.
Please let me know whether the engine life is reduced by doing so.EVERY MORTAL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN DESTINY

Shell is rocking
Go for Shell Semi Synthetic, it really rocks. I have tried MOTUL mineral based,MOTUL Semi Sythetic, well after 100 kms or so, they become sluggish.Originally posted by cs1183 View PostI think you should go for gulf pride 4t plus 20w40

Anyways, happy birthday to your menace
It's not always like that
Shell takes a 100 KMS or so to settle down but goes really long. I felt the samwe when i stretched the Shell SS to 2300kms, still the vibs in engine were less.EVERY MORTAL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN DESTINY

Have you installed the K&N.
just want to know how the bike is performing. Are there any cons of installing the same.
I heard it puts a lots of load on engine thereby reducing the life. Is that so?EVERY MORTAL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN DESTINY

If it vibrates @5k rpm then add some double tapes in the front cover i.e. which holds the headlight.Originally posted by pranav_salieri View Postnowadays i am getting very good mileage.43+ KMPL in the cities.but with sane riding.but is there any way to reduce vibrations in the afternoons? it vibrates like hell after 80 km/h
If it vibrates @8k rpm then check if any of your tank scoops is touching the leg guard.
Some general points I have noticed (from personal experience only)
Running on higher air pressure increases vibrations
Use better oil (a thicker oil holds up better in hot weather)
Get your bolts tightened especially around front area
get your chain tightened and oiled/greased (don't know oil or grease)

Here's a weird problem all of a sudden on my 2 and a half year old RTR..the main stand seems to have taken a liking for the road. Earlier it rarely happened, even with a pillion onboard. But now,its like every time a take a sharp left corner, the stand scrapes the road.It has become kind of annoying.
I tried removing and putting a less thicker, self made bobbin below the exhaust, have set my suspension to the hardest setting but nothing works.Just thought of posting here before taking it to the service stationIt all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

Well, If the bike is stock, putting on a K&N is not recommended, because the risk factor is too much for the amount of gains you expect... Improper tuning, more susceptibility to dust etc... will mar the experience...Originally posted by blazing180 View PostHi,

Those who are thinking of K&N filters in their bike, trust me it wont change anything rather than the sound and if the re-jetting goes bad, then be ready for some problems. Its actually a notion that the more the sound the faster the bike. Don't you guys think that we can not squeeze any more power from any <250cc just by changing the air filter. I mean there is hardly any option to squeeze out anything.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world
