Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
The Michelin pilot sporty costed me 1800 including tax etc.Originally posted by Chris2292 View PostHow much did the michelin front tyre cost you ?? How does it fare with the MRF zapper fs ? Am in a dilemma to choose michelin or mrf this time for the tyre change. Iam happy with zapper vyde for the rear .
I haven't used the mrf zapper fs so cant compare the two. But by reading the reviews of zapper fs, it seems to be better than the michelin tyre. Life of mrf will be max of 15k km whereas Michelin is running good at 21k km

Correction , I am running with my zapper fs for nearly 25k+ kms now and no punctures yet ,just now its starting to lose its grip ,so I guess the zapper is the better option .[emoji4]Originally posted by Abishek94 View PostThe Michelin pilot sporty costed me 1800 including tax etc.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Well when it comes to my RTR 160, the powerband starts from 5k rpm till 9.5k rpm thanks to the FFE and and modified airfilter(stock has been modified, no k&n)Originally posted by RVSB-RocketVicknySuperBoy View PostIsnt it the Pulsar's powerband?
I heard that it starts from 4k and ends at 8k rpm.
I also heard that people are claiming their RTR180 is faster than P220 in initial but it is because the lowend torque.
Try out a wheelie on a Pulsar and an Apache, the Apache will wheelie with lesser effort than Pulsar.
Just leave the clutch and wheelie will pop.
And IMO, the RTRs has the feel and fun of 2-strokes!!!
The above quote is a reply of mine in another thread.
Below 5k rpm there is no or very less power

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I recenty changed my bike cone set, and after the bike handling is not good. I have take the bike so many time to svc. and they say the cone set is fine, but still the steering play is not great.
what could be the issue, is it the steering cone set or the forks or the wheels. I could not enjoy the ride on my RTR.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
All this started after my second service.
1) There is a metallic "kiiii" sound when I hit the front brake, low frequency and I can hear it even when Metallica is on my ear phones!
I understand its more of a water in the pads thing and i get along fine with it. but is it something to be concerned about?
2) There is a clear sound from the front part of my bike- some rattling (mostly loose nuts in the console) and some metallic noises too. I dont feel my bike is as composed and planted at 80+ as it was earlier.
any idea on what these could be? Is taking the bike to the service centre the best recourse here?#Shadowfax Apache RTR 180 ABS - 2014 - 2019

1) maybe due to hard brake pads. Get them checked. 1 out of 10 causes this issueOriginally posted by Raman Swaminathan View PostAll this started after my second service.

2) from the visor. Get a foam type double tape stick in between visor and speedometer. (Not sure If it will solve the issue but in my case it was the solution)

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Be specific, steering play is too hard or too loose ?? either way the coneset setting is not correct. Keep your bike on center stand n see if the handlebar stays on the center , if it wavers to either direction coneset is loose , just tell the mechanic to tighten it and if its too tight and does not move vice versa. Additional way to find this out is , when the coneset is loose handling would be easy but there would always be a sensation that the front suspension is not that great .Originally posted by hemnath View PostI recenty changed my bike cone set, and after the bike handling is not good. I've learnt to live with the first problem :P but if it helps, try removing the disc pads and rubbing it with fine grit sand paper , mostly the case of sand or dust particles in between the pads and disc. As far as your second problem, get it checked , it might be something serious .Originally posted by Raman Swaminathan View PostAll this started after my second service.

Proper DC conversion with the rectifier and stuff would cost loads. Don't know the exact rates though. I doubt TVS does it :\ . There is a guy named Debraj , you would find him on FB. try talking to him . He does DC conversion and sends the kit directly .Originally posted by Mr_Many_Places View PostGuys Help !! Help !!
My 180 has the A.C circuit. Can i change it to D.C one ? I suppose there would be no harm in it. The Tvs showroom would do it ryt ?The North Eastern Sojourn- wanderlust diary-7000 Kilometers|| Sikkim || Bhutan

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hey all! A fellow apachian here needing help!!!! Actually my bike is the 2012 version rtr 180. Recently I replaced the air filter with k&n rc 1060. The installation was okay as it was done in my presence. All went well. But recently on an open stretch of road I noticed something in the higher rev range, that the bike starts giving slight hiccups in acceleration, crossing 8000 RPM. During single rider, the problem is sometimes not evident. But during a pillion rider on board, the bike starts giving hiccups sometime during hard acceleration during 8000-9000 RPM range, before that its all crisp and fine. What possibly might be the cause of it? I also got it tuned from a local mechanic and he said that the spark plug is showing okay mileage. The problem got solved after tuning for single riding, but during pillion rider, the problem still somehow comes up sometime. Please help what is it? Thank You

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
You are probably running lean .(Check your sparkplug after cleaning it . White means lean ) When you install an air filter you send in extra amount of air . For a perfect mixture to happen in the engine you need a perfect tune that sends in enough amount of petrol to tally the amount of air from the filter box. Thus a perfect A/F mixture leads to perfect rpm range . Now you have installed an air filter that sends in quite a large amount of air in , normal tuning is not going to make the A/F mixture correct . You need to up-jet your jets in your carburetor which is a very hard work :P given the RTR 180 comes with the largest main jet you can find and finding a driller to upjet is very hard . If you find a driller who does jet drilling take it to him and upjet . Its still going to be trial and errorOriginally posted by mudit_seh View PostHey all! A fellow apachian here!! Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Thanks for helping out!! Lean mixture, yeah thats the first thing I figured out and all I got on the internet was to upjet, but really I just dont want to mess up or upjet the carb, isnt there any sort of possible way for the problem to be solved, like if I open the fuel nut more up to the extreme, can it help or anything else?? Also, if I continue with the same setup without any changes to the mixture, will it affect the life of the engine? And the plug was cleaned and checked by the mechanic, he said you're just doing perfect at mixture, hence Im quite confused as to what the solution might be and I just dont understand why this problem arise during a pillion rider on board? please help I know Im asking too much hehe, but I'm just worriedOriginally posted by Chris2292 View PostYou are probably running lean .(Check your sparkplug after cleaning it . Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I guess no , this is the only way , either you do the work done full fledged or half fried work is gonna cost you . At this rate you will find your engine piston rings frying pretty soon, performance lags would increase and eventually you would end up with a major overhaul. BTW, you can check the plug yourself ,check it again and see if your bike is running a good mix ,I doubt it though and if you are not willing to mess with the carb I suggest you revert back to stock. K&N is a big work ,it ain't plug and play ,even with the upjet there are high chances of engine problems arising .Originally posted by mudit_seh View PostThanks for helping out!! Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Seems like I took too devastating a step for my bike opting for the k&n. I have two things in mind, one is that the mechanic last week only cleaned the spark plug, so now I can check for the colour of it and will post it here soon if its lean. The second thing which I had in mind while opting for k&n was that I am using a fully synthetic engine oil for the motor of motul make I guess 5100 or so. Costed me Rs. 800 for a litre. So can that prevent the possible damages to my bike with this lean mixture if it is present! Also, I dont ride my bike much like 10kms per day hardly. What do you suggest, sir? To remove it or to keep it??Originally posted by Chris2292 View PostI guess no , this is the only way , either you do the work done full fledged or half fried work is gonna cost you .
