I just found Pirelli MT75 110/80 17 for rear and 90/80 17 for front or mrf zapper fy1 r15v2's front. Anybody had used that here? I think they are soft compound tyres with nice grip in corners and also wet. Btw, I couldn't find it in page 1399

I just did a 220 Kms two and fro trip to NH75 Mayura hotel, experience was good as it was my first time doing more than 200+ kms on a single day. My observations from the trip were

1.RTR is a good bike for the highways until 100KM\h.It can cruise at 90-100 km\h easily. beyond which the vibes become a bother. Also I touched 120 km\h rather very easily while going and while coming back it feel a little power loss as the bike was hesitating to go above 117 km\h. My question will there be a power loss after the bike is kept at more than 7k PRM for than 2 hours??? what is the optimum cruising speed as in the speed at which we can cruise for hours together without the engine getting any heating issues or power loss??

2.Bike gave me good mileage of more than 42KMPL the bike was kept constantly kept above 7.5K RPM with occasional bursts upto 9.5K RPM and a reduction to 5.5-6K RPM.

3.I also rode my friends R15 V2 even though it lacks outright power Like the RTR it felt much more stress free at 100 KM\H and felt like it could cruise at that speed all day, however the riding position is very painful making it uncomfortable again.RTR is better when it comes to riding position but vibes make it uncomfy and I feel the engine felt a little more stressed. which is why I have this question Is the stock RTR 180 a good highway cruiser???Nowadays I hardly use my bike in the city and only use it for long rides and tours. Should I go in for JOEL's BIG BORE upgrade??? will it be better on highways??? does JOELS big bore kit reduce vibes???

MY bikes done 20000KMS on odo and recently got a new BORE and Crankshaft+ piston. after rebore its done 1000+ kms on odo.

Felt the very same thing after riding the r15 on highways, If it not for the vibes and hard, thinner tyres, then no beating this bike! Unlike r15 it can take on any terrain and man its easy to maintain :P I am planning to do another 250 km breakfast ride next month once my exams get over hoping for a vibe less ride :P

Sorry to bring this very old post back, but I want to know if there was any performance lag after the upsizing of rear tyre. I am planning to change my bike's tyres to stickier ones for cornering and road grip at a nominal rate. How is it on wet roads too? BTW how did you get 120/80 in MRF revz? I searched the web and can only find 140 and 130 sections.

The front tyre you suggested is good. I am using it on my bike. The grip is awesome in all conditions. But the only drawback is your Speedo error will increase a lil more. I have found it to be showing 2kms faster when compared to Rtr's on 90/90 profile in the front. But beyond that it is very good. No complaints so far. I have clocked more than 15k kms on the tire now. So far no punctures yet. And performance is really good.

Regarding rear tire, I suggest you stick to the company standard profile or try 120/80. You should get this from Mrf without any hassle.

                1) the ideal speed I felt riding an Rtr was at 95kph mark. The bike is 2 valved and air cooled and hence it will get heated very soon. Suggest you to give a 10-15 mins break every 75 mins of riding. The loss in power I assume to be becoz of compression issue. If u keep riding for long distances at same rpm the bike tends to lose it compression. Suggest you to vary the bike's speed and not maintain same speed for long distances. If at all u feel the same again, just make the bike breathe little more air. Just close the throttle a tad bit and open it again. Keep doing this so that compression doesn't get locked at one position.

                2) that is good mileage considering the rpm the bike was running. If you want to squeeze more mileage on long runs I guess 80 kph is good speed for mileage minded people for long rides.

                3) don't ever fiddle ur bike with any upgrades whatsoever. The stock setup is the best and by far will give u less headaches. Trust me, I am saying this from experience and some rs 50k hole in the pocket. If you want more power go for a higher cc bike.

Anything below the redline is fine, there wont be any power loss if all the consumables have been properly changed/maintained. The power loss you felt might've also been in your head, cause that happens, the bike performs well and you're in love, then you try to replicate the feeling and by then your brain expects an escalated experience, which obviously you wont get, leading to disappointment.

2.Bike gave me good mileage of more than 42KMPL the bike was kept constantly kept above 7.5K RPM with occasional bursts upto 9.5K RPM and a reduction to 5.5-6K RPM.
You can ride all day long as long as the bike is not in the redline.

Two bikes built for completely polar purposes, the RTR is a street bike and the R15 is a track bike. They would obviously perform differently. If you're not satisfied with the RTR then get a R15, if you go for after market performance mods, then it would obviously take a hit on reliability, unless thats not a concern for you, I would recommend against it. Plus you've already change'd the core parts of the motor at 20k kms, and its forcing me to assume that you're doing something wrong.

Do you want only the revz series from Mrf? I suggest you look into zapper series also. They are hard compound tires but worth every dime. I have a zapper p which is 90/90 -18 inch rear profile. I am happy with it. Though it looks a lil thin but I am happy with it. For 17 inch size rims you have multiple choice. As far as I know soft compound tires don't last long. Max I would say it would last anywhere between 14-16k kms. And the last few kms you will have lot of punctures and skidding issues.

My usage is only during weekends on neat roads. Only a small area I traverse through has bad roads and that is just cracked up and not so gravel filled or worse. So I do not mind if it only lasts for short time. Also I will be upgrading to those tyres only after all my free services get over. Until then I should be content with the stock ones and yes they misfired only on really sandy road conditions once.

You better go for zapper vyde as many of the experts in this forum have suggested and also confirmed that they haven't lost pickup and mileage too. @vivekgautams is using mrf revz on his ride and he has given positive feedback about it so i think u can search for that tyre too.

Heard that the Vyde is a really good tyre.

Yes, 140 is too big..!! 130/70 might just fit. A few guys are using a 130/70 tyre and were forced to remove the chain guard.
A 120/80 itself is difficult to mount back to the bike. 130/70 will be even more difficult.

The Pirelli MT75 110/80 17 will be a good tyre. I would advise you not to go for the 90/80 17 though. Avoid downsizing.
Try to get the same company and same model tyres for the front and rear. This will cause even wear and even grip.

A very old post indeed, 1.5 years and 20k km old..!! I'm even planning on replacing the revz 120/80.!!
                          Performance :-
                          1. Very very negligible loss of acceleration.
                          2. The speed-rpm relation has gone crazy. At 6000 rpm the bike was able to do 80-82kmph with stock(cannot remember the exact figure), with revz 120/80 it used to do 84/85 kmph. Now after a clutch replacement it does 88kmph. And at 7k rpm it does 98/99 kmph. It would be useful if you can confirm the speed at 6k rpm and 7k rpm, stock tyres.
                          3. I tested the Fuel efficiency by riding at a constant 6-7k rpm on the same road at the same time on stock and revz, I have always attained a higher efficiency on the revz(considering wear of clutch as well).
                          4. The "ride quality" is more comfortable with the beefer tyre.

Now, coming to the Revz. The Revz is softer compared to the old stock tvs tyre. The revz has got 11 less punctures than the 11 punctures on the TVS for the same 20k km clocked on both. Braking is better than the old stock but the tyre will wiggle on hard rear braking. Cornering grip is way better than the tvs but skids slightly. I'm not all that hell bent on testing the edge of grip on wet roads but the revz is way better than the TVS.

P.S- The reasons I opted for the Revz was due to unavailability of Michelin PS 120/80. In fact, after searching at least 20 dealers I was unable to source a MRF Vyde or any other zapper(120/80 17). The only options were a Tubed Continental and a Ceat off road tyre. Hence the Revz.

I'm going to change my tyres very soon. I would go for the Michelin PS(90/90 & 120/80).

Yes, Don't downsize. Stick to stock size or up size.
Heard that the Vyde is a really good tyre.
I have given positive feedback and will still give it a positive feedback.

Now I feel that I'm running the only 120/80 17" in the world
Yes, 140 is too big..!!

Thanks for your detailed reply. I was wondering how you found 120/80 in mrf revz? I couldnt locate it on or off the web. How is michelin compared to pirelli?

Guys what are the tyre pressures that i should maintain? I've changed the rear to 120/80 tyre so should i stick with 30 or 32 for the rear? Or lesser?

Which tyre did you get? Its better to have 32 psi. Many tyre shop guys told me that maintaining 2-4 psi more than the mentioned psi prevents punctures.
