I bought ZAPPER-C 120/80 about 2 weeks ago. I have to get the pressure checked tomorrow. Had been for a short ride today the rear seems to be wobbling a lil.. Does the bike wobble if the tyre is over inflated? It doesn't wobble on perfectly flat roads but when a road has slight imperfections like ups and downs it tends to wobble.

Just get the mrf zapper vyde 120/80, it grips very well, be it braking or corners or wet roads, it handles everything very well. Its a soft compound tyre and will last for about 15k - 20k kms depending on your riding.
For front zapper fy1 90/80 - 17, performs too good. I have used michelin ps 90/90 - 17 also but the mrf anyday grips better in everything. You will get a speedo error of 2 kmph but dont worry about it too much, you'll get used to it and also u will get slightly more weight at front because of the drop in tyre height/profile but i find it to be useful as it handles better(this is my personal view) and helps in corners also.

1.RTR is a good bike for the highways until 100KM\h.It can cruise at 90-100 km\h easily. beyond which the vibes become a bother. Also I touched 120 km\h rather very easily while going and while coming back it feel a little power loss as the bike was hesitating to go above 117 km\h. My question will there be a power loss after the bike is kept at more than 7k PRM for than 2 hours??? what is the optimum cruising speed as in the speed at which we can cruise for hours together without the engine getting any heating issues or power loss??

2.Bike gave me good mileage of more than 42KMPL the bike was kept constantly kept above 7.5K RPM with occasional bursts upto 9.5K RPM and a reduction to 5.5-6K RPM.

3.I also rode my friends R15 V2 even though it lacks outright power Like the RTR it felt much more stress free at 100 KM\H and felt like it could cruise at that speed all day, however the riding position is very painful making it uncomfortable again.RTR is better when it comes to riding position but vibes make it uncomfy and I feel the engine felt a little more stressed. which is why I have this question Is the stock RTR 180 a good highway cruiser???Nowadays I hardly use my bike in the city and only use it for long rides and tours. Should I go in for JOEL's BIG BORE upgrade??? will it be better on highways??? does JOELS big bore kit reduce vibes???

MY bikes done 20000KMS on odo and recently got a new BORE and Crankshaft+ piston. after rebore its done 1000+ kms on odo.

RTR 180 easily maintains 100+ cruising speeds on highways. Vibes are an irritant post 90 kph and so is the drag hitting you straight on the chest.

Comparing with the R15 is not advisable as it has a full fairing and a high revving engine which is very responsive after 7k rpm while the RTR is almost at its peak of power delivery.
Add to this liquid cooling and other bits of tech that the R15 has make it a very refined tourer.

I've ridden the RTR and R15 back to back on Mumbai - Bangalore run and while the R15 did feel smoother and more refined, I missed the aggressive, always-on torque of my RTR. Which is always what i valued the RTR for, a torquey, well made, nimble motorcycle that is also cheap to own and run.

And about getting the bigger bore, I have just one word for you - DON'T

Some food for thought - should keep you sated for some time...

Well i suppose there will be power lags as i have noticed it too. If you are using the tvs tru oil then there will be power lag after you do 100kmph runs for some time. If you use motul 5100 or shell ax7 then it will be better in feel & performance of the bike. R15 runs more smoother at 100 than 180 is because it has better engine parts like nikacil coated pistons etc. Its higher technology too & dont forget the additional 6th cog that reduces the rpm level compared to our 5th. The crusing speed of our 180 is between 80-90 i suppose. At this speed you can continue day long without doing much damage to the engine or encountering harsher vibes .

I've done 540km on my rtr in a day and speeds were constantly around 95-115 throughout the trip.. I did not observe any drop in performance at any point of time during the ride. Got a mileage of 46-47kmpl during this trip :P
Cruising speed would be 90-105kmph according to me..

I am currently on stock tyres and have had my front tyres lock up 4 or 5 times, all at low speeds of less than 30 kmph and planning to upgrade before I face it in high speeds
              I have planned for front: zapper fy1 90/80 17 ;Rear : zapper vyde /zapper S /Zapper C

              1. Why has only my front tyre locked up and never my rear ?also why only at low speeds ?
              2. When upgrading should I change both, cause I have not yet faced any issues with my rear tyre.
              3. How about this combination : Zapper fy1(F) and Zapper vyde(R), the problem is both tyres are not exact fit. 90/80 17(fy1) vs 90/90 17(existing TVS) and 120/80 17(vyde) vs 110/80 17(existing TVS). What are the pros and cons ?
              4. Where in Chennai can I get these tyres , Will they also take my 6.5K old TVS stock tyres (No punctures, no cracks, threads are still good)

I am Currently 6.5K on odo running on stock 90/90 17 (F) and 110/80 17(R) TVS tyres, my commute on bike is limited to 5kms of stop and go city traffic, and 10kms of highway per week

+1 for this setup ,I am running the same and I find it very good , easy cornering all the time and handles good too .

                  1. Locking or not depends on how you brake ,when you are gonna pump your levers to the limit it is gonna lock eventually . Best practice on non ABS bikes is to pump the brakes ,pump it and release the levers when you think its gonna lock up , need more time on the bike to feel it and learn when it would lock up.
                  2.Not necessarily.
                  3. Please go through the previous pages in this same thread ,this has been one of the most talked about topic for a few days.
4.GP road, there is a shop called Hardeep auto works ,they stock all these tyres . I doubt they would take old tyres but there are many shops in GP road that take old tyres and retread them so give it a try one day , try the tire shops near satyam cinemas for selling old tyres.

                    1. I had never pumped my levers to the maximum during the lock ups. My usual practice is to gradually decrease the speed by pressing both front(apprx 40%) and rear brake(apprx 60%) to bring the bike to a halt. When I need heavier breaking I pump and release the front brake like you mentioned keeping the rear brakes presssed hard. I am planning to check my disc brakes for any fault as well.
                    3. Yes, I had, and it is from those I picked up the mentioned tyres.
                    4. Will check them out.

Dude 46kmpl at 95-115kmpl thats awesome figure. Are you sure you achieved this ? Never heard of the 180 giving 46kmpl at this speed bracket. Experienced riders can share their knowledge here i guess.

Most of the time speeds were between 100-108.. Yes I'm sure of this mileage.
