Guys, I very recently found out about steel braided brake lines and I was shocked to see that out RTRs come with brake lines that look suspiciously similar to the steel braided brake lines! Can anyone confirm if we have steel braided brake lines?
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

In continuation to my post (http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...ml#post1156332) on conversion from tubetype tires to tubeless tires (on a TT rim) by plugging Zapper FY1: The initial 1-2 days were bit cumbersome owing to my sort of un-orthodox tire combination (rear ones being heavy meteors 100/90-18"). the front tires were really round in shape and so while doing sharp flicks or turns it tends to fall in line faster than the rear ones which were not that curvy. But after a few days of ride it felt easy to ride. Another headache I had was the tire from where I got installed didnt tighten the tubeless tire valves completely, resulting to loss in air every 2 days. I thought it might be puncher or the valves are faulty. I went to a local puncher shop & asked him to check for punchers. There was no puncher but loss of air in the valves. He said the valves might be faulty and either I have to change it or put tubes inside the tire. I was adamant of not putting tubes. Then he just tried to tighten the valves & found that it was not tightened completely. After that the tire pressure was stable & no issues so far. The zapper FY1 as stated by many is a clear winner when it comes to handling during panic breaking. In the last few days I have tried in dry, wet, slippery mud conditions & the combination does work great. The next in line was to change the red rim stickers. I got valuable suggestions from my friends both in & out of Xbhp. Went to a local sticker shop & opted for the reflective orange stickers. I showed the person on the sort of design I wanted. He gave some theory class it is not possible & all sorts of excuse. In short its a time consuming job & he had other customers & was not ready to spent more time on my bike alone. Already it was raining & I was not in mood to go in search of another shop. So I got it done the plain way with no other stuffs. The next in my mind was to get the brand/model writing on tires with white paint. For the same I had ordered from ebay (2 PCS Tyre Marker PEN White CAR AND Bike Tyre Marker Paint PEN Sporty Look | eBay). As per the website it says if name is big and all you might require more than one pen. So I opted for 2pc which comes with one free. So total 3pc. But I was able to manage with one pen itself. Now let the pic do the talking.

              Hi guys,

I was wiping my bike clean after a ride in rain . I was wiping the rear portion of the bike and then I realized that it did not have any rear disc oil container like the front disc oil container (or may be I have missed it). I have a dual disc set up and can somebody please tell me if this is the way RTR's are setup or it might be in some other place?

P.S. Sorry if it is a noob qustion.

                      Update:
Just changed engine oil to shell rimula r4 (HDEO) 15w40 grade. Meant for diesel engine :P
The previous oil, shell ax7 had lost its viscosity according to the guy who changes oil at the shell bunk. It ran for 1900km out of which about 1500km was touring..
Lets see how the new hdeo oil holds up

Hi pranav. The mileage you are getting is ridiculously low. Get the carb checked. Even with 2 up & doing 65-70 i get 42.

I am finding it a little difficult to maintain constant speeds in the 1st & 2nd gears. Either it is revving very fast or not at all. But the 3rd gear is where I am most comfortable. It is very easy to ride the bike at 3rd gear. May be because I am new or is it the case with all RTR's?

Hi andy. Congrats on your purchase. Ride her well. Enjoy.
Regarding your query as all the members pointed out our first 2 gears are too short. You will find yourself comfortable in 3rd gear & above. U can even do 30kmph in 5th without a problem. In heavy traffic clutch slipping us required . Our rides are revv happy beings. They dont want to remain calm for long. Feed them #accelerate.
Watch out for the brakes. They are the best stuff in an indian made bike. Be careful when it rains. Our rear disc is awesome one. It actually works unlike in the pulsar 220 which feel like sponge.

Are you sure about this? The modern car engine oils have certain additives which will do more harm than good to bike which has wet clutch mechanism. Anyway Im not an expert in this & havent tried it out myself. Hope it doesnt do anything bad to your clutch or engine. Moreover what is the main driving force behind opting for this. Is it the draining period? See, no matter whatever additives or astronomical draining period engine oil manufacturers claim for, its always safe not to use the oil beyond 2500km. Yeah it burns the pocket, but its better than a major clutch overhaul/engine work.

I get 40kmpl in bangalore traffic for RTR 160. If Im maintaining rpm within 4.5k (i.e. 60km/hr in top gear), I used to get 45. But if it was to ride that way I could have bought a splendor . So Im okay with whatever I get as long as performance is not an issue. Mileage depends on many facts. if you are always is stop-n-moving traffic where there is high chance of gear changes & always riding in low gears plus the pillion rider & spirited riding whenever the road opens a bit, then definitely the mileage department will give surprises.

There are lot of dependancy factors. Anyway let him check the carb, clean the air filters and then try.

Yes, I am more comfortable in 3rd and 4th gears. Haven't taken her to 5th gear yet. My top speed is 40 km/h so far in 4th gear.
And regarding the brakes, I found them to be very good. I was little apprehensive about disc brakes as I have heard many stories about people locking the brakes and falling down and hurting themselves, but I went ahead and booked the dual disc version. Currently I am using single finger braking while applying the front brakes and yes rear disc is very good. Currently using 30:70 ratio while braking, will increase the front brake ratio as I grow more confident of the braking system.
