Even my bike had the same hiccup issue(though it was mild).I only noticed it while accelerating slowly/while riding at constant 3k rpm. After i complained about the issue in the svc, they completely disassembled the carb and cleaned the individual components including the jets. But then opening, cleaning and fitting the carb is one thing and the tuning is another.Tuning is what is utmost important and there will be significant difference in performance(read:loss) if not set properly.
Ya opening engine components are always risky and more so because i dont trust these SVC people. But i dont have any other option also.

Take a teat drive after he tunes your bike, and drive at both low and high RPM's to check weather he tuned it properly or not, and after coming home make the mixture rich by half turns cuz the guys at the SC are instructed to always tunr the bike on the average side.

      • Shaky petrol tank

Today morning I was cleaning my RTR180 and noticed that the petrol tank moves a bit, pivoted about the central frame under it. I haven't noticed it before and am wondering if its normal to have some movement. I took off the seat and checked if the bolt holding the petrol tank is tight and it is. Can you guys check and confirm if its normal to have some movement of the petrol tank?

in front the tank rests at only a round rubber holder, and at the rear it's boltes, so front movement of tank is very much normal.

Thanks guys ... good to know it is normal, thought something had come loose.

I dunno how the mechanics tune the bike but the correct way to test if the carb is tuned properly is to do a plug chop. I won't go into the details here because a quick google search will return a lot of websites which tell you why and how to do it.

I told him to check it in the simpler way, throttle response tells a lot about the carb setting.

I have already posted on this. I had changed both the TVS tyres to the ones you have mentioned. Result: Zapper FS up front is the perfect replacement, dont even think twice about it. Zapper S would give you loads of road grip and immense confidence on corners but that will come with a little bit of loss in straight line stability as the width of the tyre will be reduced by 10mm (others might disagree ). I would recommend you to go for an IRC tyre for the rear in the stock size 110/80 17" if you can find one in your city.

See,TVS tires are not that bad to be changed before you get out of the showroom(CMPL.Right?).They do their job well and there's hardly anything to complain if you are not into hard cornering and knee-down antics.Give it a month or so to replace the stock ones..And that 100/80 is a dent on looks.
And like someone mentioned it before that summers are already here and I am sure Chandigarh must be 40 degree plus at this point of time...Hence,worry not of them loosing grip!
PS:It's really getting hot now..And this is just March over! May and June are yet to come. What is going to happen to us bikers??
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

well .. only reason i wanted to get rid of the stock tyres is ..
"whats the fun in having awesome brakes when u can't use them with those nasty tyres"

well i wouldnt lose grip in summers what about the monsoons after that..

IRC tyres would obviously be better than TVS tyres but i havent used it so can comment on it.
