First of all, please call me Phil - not Sir Thank u for your kind words Coming to the bike again, the RTR is a very capable bike indeed Aggressive, light, feline flickability and the likes; Crazily in love with it. Though its almost 6years old and have seen numerous big bore and performance work carried on it, it never fails to give the adrenaline rush which is so addictive

Okay, Phil! Mine is just around 3 months old. I used to worry a lot about it in the beginning. But now as you say, it's s much fun to ride everyday. And I was able o relate myself to the quotation in your post. Maybe, the bike changed my life a bit like that.

Heyy its still very new then nurture it well and have fun with it Choosing a bike is finding your own self. We all have different wants and needs that many bikes can give, but why did we choose an Apache? Maybe because we can relate to it, or maybe its just the addiction to the surges this pocket rocket bike gives. Whatever it is, stand true to it and by it. Let others say what they want, you know better what u need and what u have

According to international manuals of Indian motors, the run in is around 5~25kms depending on the motor. For my recent rides, the Discover 100 and the Pulsar 220F, I ran it sanely for around 50 or 100kms, and changed the oil, then rode it normally till 500kms after which I will redline the shit out of the motor and engine brake hard to form a perfect seal, then change the oil once more, after which I would use the bike normally and change the oil when the motor starts to strain. The Discover 100 did 16k kms before I traded it for the P220, most of it was done on the highway for trips ranging from 500~1500 kms, no issues and it was the best bike I've owned and ridden till date, and at times I do regret going for the P220.

sorry for jutting in, but i was speaking for the economy class bikes, the likes of splendor.. bikes which are mass produced, with all kinds of cost cutting in production.

those bikes just do not have the quality of a superbike. as i already said in my previous post, the "reviews" on his site are all for superbikes. and superbikes, inherently have high quality parts, top notch production. those engines can handle the stress.

                    and coming to your
I don't understand one thing, that people are so excited when they buy "Indian" bikes but still consider them inferior to others?
they are excited because they are buying a new bike!! anyone would be excited, no??

and about considering them inferior to others, every thing has an even better competition. i bought a RE. I compare it to a splendor, the RE is superior. i compare it to an HD, Triumph, Indian, its inferior.

although, i'd say inferior is pretty strongly negative to term a bike. its what you get for what you pay.

please take this as a constructive argument. i am not trying to offend anyone or hurt anyone's ego here. at the end of the day, our love to ride unites us all

                      Hello Guys,

am Vibin from Kochi. I have recently purchased the new Apache RTR 180 (Feb 9, 2015 to be precise). I have completed the first service and run in period. Now a days while riding between 5000 - 6000 RPM, vibrations are coming from the instrument cluster. After crossing 6000 RPM, the vibration ends and everything goes back to normal. Does all the Apache have these vibration or only mine ? Please help me to solve the problem.

You will have to get used to the vibrations. They will become less annoying after a couple of services.

Yes, it will be there. It will reduce after a few services but not vanish completely. And you might feel that the engine is stressed in 5000-6000rpm range itself. The engine actually loves it. But know that all the 17 horses are unleashed at ~8500rpm range. So, the engine naturally loves to be revved and it's the sound and vibes that make the bike cooler than other bikes. I had this and many other worries about the bike but all those are nothing compared to the fun and safety it is offering now.

Exactly i can feel that engine is stressed but above 6000 RPM, the character of the bike completely changes and moves forward very quickly. Thanks for clearing my doubt guys.

Yes, after 6000 rpm all the torque available is unleashed. So it will do 90s and reach 100 so quickly. Amazing fun isn't it? But be careful and ride safe!
