Gave my bike for 5th and last free service to skanda tvs in hanumanthnagar bangalore around 20-25 days ago. After the service I realised that one of the bolts holding the oil filter cover is loose. When I tried tightening it, the bolt just kept rotating. Yes, the threading had been damaged took it back to the svc today and they told me that they will remove cluth cover and re-thread (tapping operation) the damaged threads. Also, two bolts are damaged, so now there is effectively only one bolt which is tightly fit.

There is oil leakage but it hasn't made any difference to the oil level which I have checked over 2weeks and 600km.

According to the mech this is a common problem in rtrs. :/ anyone experienced this? And should I get it rethreaded or any other solutio to this problem??

Note: All bolts and threads of the oil filter cover were good before the service. So it has to be the work of some over enthusiastic mech. :@

Blast the SVC guys & talk with the manager and ask them to get it done free of charge.
Its their mistake. Its not a common problem unless all over enthusiastic mechs try their hand power while tightening.
If they are not ready to take responsibility shoot a mail to the TVS officials. Definetly they will help.
I would say its good if you get it resolved so that there will be peace of mind while going for rides.

Thanks susheel, I will go to the svc tomorrow and ask the manager to do it free of charge.
It is very sad to know that a simple job like tightening a bolt cannot be done by these svc mechs without damaging the bike. :/

Dint you have the crash guard on your bike during the accident? If yes, how did the tank scoop break?
Since I will be going to the svc tom, I can find out the price of the tank scoop and update you tom

Hi guys I just replaced my carburetor's diaphragm rubber and the slide as there was loss in power and when I checked with a mechanic he said that I have to change them. I changed them and everything is fine now. The throttle response is back to normal. I have 31k kms on the odo. And ruining on k&n filter f2f from past 16k. When I asked the mechanic why had the parts worn out he told that it was due to k&n as it allows more dust and gradually the dust settles in the carb. I know k&n allows more dust than the stock filter. But is this true?

Yes, K&N allows to enter more dust particles than the stock filter. AFAIK all bike manufactures use paper type or sponge/foam type filters on their bike.

BTW its the first time I'm hearing a mech talking sensibly, normally they all praise after market filters. Listen to him

Yes, we are still having the RTR. It's now at Chennai used by my brother. 5 years ON and still it's going strong, hits over 135km/hr even today!!

                        Dear fellow RTR owners,
I took the liberty to speed up a fair bit on a visibly clear highway yesterday morning. My RTR 180 touched 107 kmph and for some reason appeared slighty wobbly in the back and the vibes were there as one would have expected. I immediately slowed down fearing a tank slapper (a speed wobble).
On a separate occasion, my friend's D200 on the other hand appeared so much more stable at the same speed (or even higher speeds).
I know it's rather stupid to compare these two bikes but is there a problem with my motorcycle or is it the roads and have any other of you guys experienced the same?

Was it a level road? Were the tire pressure proper? IMO bike is stable at speeds up to 115.

I collided with a biker who is riding before me, and my tank scoop hit the back of his bike and my tanks scoop broke, to me there is no damage in the exteriors of the tank scoop, but the internals i.e., the part that is holding bolt part broke and i couldn't able to fix it as it very fragile. Btw i have enquired my SVC (RAMKAY TVS, Chennai) about the cost, it is around Rs.750, which is pretty high .

I haven't experienced any speed wobble as you said and moreover when I reach more than 110kmph itseems like my beast is flying.

                              I drive mostly on highways.

                                Hi !!
Done 652 kms on odo and had the first servicing a couple of days ago . They changed the oil for Rs 525 . The bike has started to heat up a lot nowdays and even vibrates a little more . Guys I want to use a different oil say motul or servo rather than true 4 . Should I start using it now or should I burn the tires a little bit more and then start using servo ?? :screwy:
