  • Hey guys,

I got my A180 back yesterday, after more than 40 days of running around TVS people, finally they changed the part which they thought was faulty(something in the gearbox).
I test drove the bike today and the acceleration seemed a little sloppy(may be AFR mistake) but i was happy because i managed 123kmph and i was unable to cross 105 a few days back, another problem im facing is i'm getting a weird sound from my bike, its not there when i hold my clutch... went to ASC and the mechanic said that its coming from the gear box and will be settled after some runin.
Somebody throw some light on this problem.

Thanks to everyone who has tried to solve my problem.
You guys are doing a great job by helping people around here.

    • @pranav Good to hear that your problems are more or less solved Give it a few more days (the sound might just vanish )

Meanwhile I finally got to ride my bike. Had been away for a couple of weeks. Thankfully the bike started with a single kick. But am facing a slight problem with the tachometer. It just doesn't give the correct readings.

In 5th gear at around speed of 54kph, the rpm needle should be around the 4k mark but right now it is all over the place. And it even idles at 0 rpm :P but it's working and rises with acceleration and vice versa.

I don't think the tacho is faulty since self check is fine. It even works correctly for the first five minutes. A friend suggested either battery problem or loose connection. What do you guys think?

What about the digital speedo display? If it works, I guess it must be a loose connection.

Way to go Bro Even though it took a while, was worth it. Happy biking.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

I opened up the whole front faring today and checked for loose connections. Everything seems to be in place. I checked the battery and all seemed fine there too.

The tacho self check works well and the needle shows correct rpm for the first five mins. Then it acts crazy... like showing 90+ at 6k rpm. I feel like pushing the bike more then. 100+ comes up by 7k Dunno why it is acting strange.

But as an added bonus. I managed to solve the pass light problem. It used to work intermittently. Apparently the headlight holder was pressing the small "passlight box" too tightly and it used to work only when I landed in a pothole with a bang Now I've stuck a tape and it is all good.

              • Hiccups are back

After getting back from the Leh ride last month, my hiccup problem returned with a vengeance. I'm in need of an elaborate trouble shooting session. Also, since I swapped the HID to Halo for normal city use, I've noticed a new problem of the horns going weak when the HL is on. With the altered wirings, I dont want to take it to SVC either. God Help Me!!

when ur bike is in the off position does the rpm needle rest at a position further back than 0??
coz when i was at the svc he revved my bike till 12k and when he left it the rpm needle came to an imaginary '-1k' mark!!
so he opened the gauge and moved the needle back to 0!! its all fine now!!

p.s. if u gonna try this then remember it only moves anti clockwise while stationary!! so dont try to rotate it the other way round!

@lijok I too having the extreme hiccup problems after changing the accelerator cable like there is water in the petrol but there ain't any.
And bike is running too heavy like i am dragging her with rear brakes applied

If you are still running on Joel's FFE, have you noticed change in exhaust sound with this hiccup problem.
How you solved first time the hiccups problem?

I'm not using the FFE any more. Personal reasons, nothing to worry about. So cannot comment on that. Yeah, sound from stock exhaust is a bit different, though I'm not sure.

First time I did not really do anything. It just vanished when we hit Delhi... and returned a day after we reached back. Initially I thought it was the tuning issue. Got it tuned, and it was good for one single run. But now its like crazy.

My concern is identifying the problem. Could be the TCI, ignition coil, RR, wiring harness etc. Unless I take to SVC, I'll have to buy each to test replacing them.... hmmm.

Anyway, I wont give up on my bike. Will fix it some way...

                        Comment

                        • deepak- LOL thats a speedo console error and nothing to worry about!!! no bike except maybe CBR 250R and ninja and sbks can cross the 150 km/h on the console!!!but those SVC people might have taken your bike till 11K rpm....if you go beyond 11K RPM then there is achange that the high speed recorder clocks 160 as top speed!

                          • pranav- thanks for the reply...i knew it was a speedo error....but i think the error starts only beyond 120(not sure), even that speed would have affected my engine adversely....that was why i was worried...pls correct me if i am wrong...

Glad to know about it,but you should have asked them what was the problem actually and what parts were replaced.Gearbox seldom fails.

dont worry bro once i was riding in the rain and might have been doing 80 or so but the speedo showed me 140!and then it went all the way to 160
btw it has happened only once!!
but yeah i know they ride at good speeds..when i got mine the top speed showed around 84!!
anyways u cant do much about what has already happened.just try and follow proper running in!
