  • K&N Filters

    Hey Guys,
    I m thinking of installing a K&N on my RTR180 in a month's time. What About Performance?
    What About Fuel Economy?

Tomorrow I Am Going To Change By Disc Pads, Air Filter.
Just installed NGK Spark Plug, changed rear bike hub shoe, which made bike very smooth. There is no sound from rear wheel at all. Bike has been gradually smooth. I will be doing all that to reduce my bikes vibrations.

I had done 6-8 servicing at SVC but bike was never so good.

      • Hey Guy's
The choke cable lever has become very tight to operate(even the travel is step by step and hard).
Kindly share your thoughts on what to do.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Similar thing has happened to me after a few months of purchase, as i didnt know the purpose of choke and didnt find it very useful and i ignored it... untill a few months back when the choke cable got rusted and jammed, it was interfering with some other thing due to which my rpm was going haywire, i installed a new clutch cable and everything was all right...
The mechanic asked me to play around the clutch switch so that it wopnt get rusted...

The choke cable gets jammed after some period of usage.Replace it if rusted or if not, disconnect the cable from the carb, remove it and clean it with petrol, followed by lubing with 2T oil.Plus put some oil on the choke lever too for smooth operation.

Thanks guys for your inputs and the detailed info

One more thing. The throttle free play is much more than what is needed. It doesn't feel right. The throttle cable assembly has no part in this right? So i presume the throttle grip might need adjustment/replacement. Am i right?

No need to replace anything, remove the starter button switch gear and check the throttle grip whether the cable end is properly fitted in the spindle. Also there is a adjustment nut at the end of the cable(carb side),you can adjust it.Turning it in anti-clockwise direction will decrease the play, vice versa.

                  • There is an adjuster right where the throttle cable enters the grip assembly. Much easier than fiddling under the tank.

                      • TVS TRU4 Oil / Chain Lube

I saw the TRU4 oil can today. It is mentioned 10W30 grade,"Semi-synthetic". Why TVS recommend this oil as we all know Mineral oil is best for running-in? Also, why the 10W30 grade instead of 20W40 which will be more suited for hot climate like ours?

                        Image of TRU4 can:

What will be the effect of semi-synthetic oil used during run-in?

Also, are the following Motul products (link to Motul Page ) good for our rides?
                        • Engine oil: Motul 3000 4TPlus 20W40
                        • Motul Chain Clean
                        • Motul Chain Lube Road

Or is there any better engine oil/chain lube available?

no harm at all.i am using the same oil with 15w50 grade as 10w40 is not available at my place.its been more than a 1k kms with this oil and it runs good.
i have not observed any negative effects yet!
in fact in a hot country like ours 15 w 50 is sometimes better too!
