  • Throttle Cable pretty tight

Hi All..Yesterday I had taken my bike for washing, after which I feel the throttle cable has become bit tight.
I mean it used to be kind of smooth while turning the accelerator, but now its kind of bit tight...
What might have gone wrong?? How can I resolve this???

The issue was resolved...did some lubrication of throttle cable & its back to normal....
From now on-wards I think its better to lubricate chain as well as throttle cable after each bike wash....

              • Engine Break In - Apache RTR 180 ABS

                Hey guys,

I just joined this awesome forum, I've seen many knowledgeable threads and posts in this forum, I'm amazed by the knowledge you guys possess.

I've been waiting long for my dream beast more than 1 year to get, I'm much happy to say that I'll get him tomorrow 11:00 AM , I'm very exicited moreover little afraid about my new bike which is why I'm writing this thread.

                I don't know how to break-in my engine ??? !!!

My friend(He got a beast) told me that Customare care guys at TVS showroom will only say "Don't ride above 60kmph" but I want specifics I wanted to make my beast perfect.

                • I really don't want to junk my apache's engine and return 30-35 kmph mileage.
                • I need good performance which bike is supposed to give out.
                • Long engine life.

What should I keep in mind while I drive within first service or 500 kmph ? What kind of riding schemes/methods do I use ?

Bit about me since I'm new here

For the first 0-1000 km dont rip your bike above 55kmph or 4k rpm...
Also dont ride with constant rpm or speed for long time...Keep increasing speed, then decrease & keep looping the same....
It helps to set the engine much better...
Also shift gears in proper rpm...I normally shift above 4k rpm, but as yours is new try shifting around 4k rpm & never more than that...
Till the first service is done, dont ever think about mileage part...
Start checking it only after first service...maintain mineral oil for atleast 5000 km...
But I heard that recently the 10w30 grade oil of TVS is semi-synthetic...
Anyway during my time it was mineral oil & I started putting semi synthetic only after 5k km..
Anyway you dont need to worry much about that oil part..I think TVS would have thought about it & so it wont do any harm to your engine..
Ride with proper gears like helmets, gloves & so on....
Last but not least enjoy the ride & love your bike as if its your girlfriend or wife...It will start loving u back...

                      • Thank You Susheel Kumar, Can I change my headlamp(stock) to Bluelight(OSRAM blue Bulb) without voiding electrical guarantee ?

I mean I don't want to mod anything or make changes, just want to change the bulb to same 35w blue bulb !! Does that void guarantee and is that legal to do in India ?

Calm down Friend. Its we, the oldies, who have to teach the newbies.

BTW, going for the Duke next month. Almost decided, and have moolahs ready. At exchange rate, my RTR fetching 38K. But I know, I can get atleast 40K outside.

Yes it will void the guarranty..
Legality part, i dont know much. But I would suggest not to do so as it wont do anything good...the 35w illumination part is almost same as stock halogens & it is also harmful for the opposite side riders...
