Apache RTR 180 misfiring and click from engine
Hi all,
I have a 2 1/2 year old Apache RTR 180. I have been facing one specific issue for a while and none of the mechanics are able to fix it.
My bike starts misfiring very very often. A week after I get the bike back from service, it starts misfiring. I rode all the way past Mangalore from Bangalore and back this past December and ever since, there is another issue with the bike.
When I start the bike and let it idle, after like 15 seconds or so, I can hear a loud clicking noise from the engine for every 3 or 4 beats. I had left it at the TVS service place at Kalyan Nagar, Bangalore and he said he had checked the carburettor and fixed the issue, but again 2 days after I got the bike back, it started misfiring again and I get the same noise.
Can anyone tell me what that noise is and where I can get the bike fixed? I used to get the bike serviced at Tristar TVS, Domlur for well over a year after I bought the bike, then shifted it to Power Crest.
Till date, the best service I have had is at Power Crest, but still I end up getting the same issue after a week or so and they are pretty expensive too.

Guys I have a question.
My crash guard is bent at the left side after a fall I had a while before. The crash guard is bent at the connecting point with the frame and it has lost a bit paint there and at the end where it came to contact with the ground. Also my left indicator and left side headlamp cover also have some drag scrapes.
Can I avail the warranty for any of these parts and get them changed? Anybody faced this situation before? I thought of asking you people before directly asking them.

If you use heavy/too thick lubricant it will give slight 'chick' chick' sound for 50-100 kms.Originally posted by Albert Paul View PostI just got my beast after first service, when I take my beast for a ride this morning I heard a "chil" "chil" sound from sprocket area, to confirm that I put beast on center stand and started my bike then I can clearly hear this chil chil sound so I took my bike to nearest service center and noticed them about this problem, they said it's because Chain was just lubed that's why and that sound is perfectly normal etc..
What do you think ? Does that sound causing because of any sprocket or alignment related issues ?? or normal ?

Read the terms of insurance, if you use it now there are some terms related with next year, may be amount will be reduced for next year or something not too sure... but if the cost isnt major please spend with your own pocket & second thing it will take a month for Insurance procedure

Well, that could be a problem of the pollution controller.. is it like a popping sound when you release the accelerator.?Originally posted by subhramani View PostHi all,

I was thinking along these lines. I don't think it's a major issue. Just thought will be nice to have a flawless vehicle. I think I'll spend some on the crash guard after an year or so. It's still intact as a whole.Originally posted by shahbaz63 View PostRead the terms of insurance, if you use it now there are some terms related with next year, may be amount will be reduced for next year or something not too sure... but if the cost isnt major please spend with your own pocket & second thing it will take a month for Insurance procedure
Thank-you for the suggestions brother.

even i thought like you when my bike got scraped by me falling from it while riding! headlight scraped indicator broke and sideguard bent and visor and front cover got scraped. i went to svc centre. they r real money robbers. the guy quoted me 5000 rs in totl. 2400 for headlight which is having leds 450 for sideguard which can b easily repaired. and visor and ol in totk as i wanted bike new. also rear view mirror ws broken....what i did ws some desi jugaad went to nearby repair shop the guy fixed the guard in place with hammer and it ws all like new..just fr 20rs :-P painted it with 100rs lacquer spray nd all new it was. then went to karol bagh and got everything replacd xcept fr headlight as dey wre minor scraps nd dint wanted to replac whole light..else everything chnged nd got a totl bill of 1500rs and all parts were genuine from tvs spare part centr there. and covered the visor with black film from accesories shop. got d bike new for 1500rs. :-D i think u can also go for this option instead f going thru jhanjhat of insurance or making ur bike look bad.. i know it hurts thats why repairing maks it new :-) u cn try dat method f mine :-)Originally posted by evyavan View PostI was thinking along these lines. Not really. This issue started like a year ago. It wasnt this bad before.

That happens too. It does give me the popping sound when I release accelerator. I cant ever hold the accelerator at one specific place and let the bike go at that same speed. It always slows down and I start feeling like someone is pulling me from behind. It is a weird feeling.
Here is what I just recorded.
