      • RTR 180 chain gone bad after just 4500 KMS!

There was some sound coming from my RTR 180 chain, so showed it to SVC in Pune. They told me that the bike chain was gone and that I have to replace the chain.

My bike is just 6 months old and has clocked 4500 Kms. I was also told that it costs about 1300 and is not covered under warranty!

Any advice guys? I think this should be covered under warranty.

When are you able to hear the sound from chain ? when ever you move the vehicle ? As it s relatively new i dont think chain needs to be replaced, think the chain is too tight or too loose , get the chain checked for slackness. You can get this done from other svc also(take a second opinion)

            • I can hear the chain sound when i accelerate. I tried took a second opinion and the other TVS SVC guy says the same. They said that i need to take care of the chain and spray the chain with Bardhal chain spray. But my bike was serviced just 20 days back.

Chain slackness is not proper i think, just get it fixed.

Big bore and K&N filter are not that obvious right.. . Did not push the bike.. will need to head out of city for that... TVM city is under siege by cops. Two numb head kid-of-cop (IG) went and made themselves wall posters... on a median. One died on the spot and other on reaching the hospital. And now that there are traffic cameras on most junctions, it very tuff to open the throttle up... anyway, i'm hoping that other than the added weight (7kgs damn) there wont be any issues.

Right... I was wondering becos... A bigger Bore = More gas flow at the exhaust ... So, if the stock exhaust is used with the bore, I am guessing the bike will feel more vibey than stock... As in, noticebly more vibey, and the full potential of the bore cant be used... You know how it was with the FFE... How s it feeling now with the stock one??? More so when You ve gone taller on the Gearing.....

mmm well, i have a small niggle to fix too... hiccupps are low rpms.. suspecting a valve timing issue. So until that is fixed, taking it real easy..

I'll revert the gearing also to stock. This was just an experiment, and has proven unsatisfactory. yes, there is increase in mileage, but the adrenalin rush is lost..
