Take an trusted and experienced mechanic along. There isn't much you can check, but an experienced mechanic can pick up some niggling/ major issue after a small test ride. As a noob, I just checked the basics: Whether things like electricals were working fine. Any sound that weren't supposed to be there. Squeaky breaks (Can be a brake pad issue) Check for lag in pick up after changing gears at the correct RPM. Overall paint/ finishing job. Hope this helps.

        • A trip log. Hmmm I am such a lazy person. I'll try and jot down some points over the weekend

The bike was absolutely fabulous. No problems at all (no puncture, startup issues, engine overheating). She just carried on and on. And even did the Manali-Delhi stretch (some 550+ kms) yesterday cruising at 90+ kph and not once did the bike complain.

For those planning to visit, I would say plan after July 15th. Most of the roads (Delhi-Srinagar-Leh) and (Delhi-Manali-Leh) is in bad shape and being repaired. Most of the repair work should be completed by mid july and then the ride should be much better.

          • Great trip and awesome pics,,,

Finally finished with the First servicing of my machine and sadly i had to put in the TVS oil,,,10W30...at any cost the SVC ppl wear not allowing to put in any other oil claiming that it will breach warranty,,,

As soon as I came out i saw that the bike was idling around 2.2K under warm conditions and even if u are in the first gear and u hold the clutch(throttle closed) the whole handle and mirrors start vibrating like anything,,,as if the bike is still accelerating though the throttle is closed...

Went to the SVC asap and lowered the idling RPM but it seems now that even though the bike is in warm condition the idling rpm is showing as 0.9K only...

Please suggest what should I do ,,,??

And more over the the SVC people had oiled the chain and greased the important parts of the bike like the clutch, throttle ,stand and all friction regions but this Bangalore rains my bike is again back to the earlier condition

Will it be a problem if I continue riding like this or should I oil, grease the chain again??

Why bother much when you can set the idling yourself.

Set it at 1400 rpm + or - 100 rpm, ie', you can set it anywhere between 1300 to 1500 rpm.

                Idling rpm is between 1.2k-1.4k
Go for Tvs Tru spray chain lube. Around 290rs/- for 500ml.
Its always good if we lubricate atleast every month during normal conditions. During rainy season maybe twice a month.

Yeah, it will go 130+. Actually, the traffic didn't allow me to go beyond. When you go towards Sonepat, 2 red lights and 3-4 crossings are there in the way, that make you slow down automatically if you're not in mood to get involved in some danger

                  • Ok will set the idling by myself...but my doubt is when the engine is hot the idling rpm should b high right but still it hovers around the 0.9k mark....

And i had read in this thread that the idling rpm should not be set when engine is hot,,,,correct me if I m wrong...

                      • Query

Does a bent on a exhaust of the bike causes misfiring?

If there is a bend on your exhaust, then it might be the culprit, but when my bike had the misfiring problem i tried all sorts of things to correct it, the problem didnt go untill i changed my petrol bunk, i now go only to shell and prefer shell super, just 5-6 rupees costlier than the regular super.
