Can i add this air filter to my A180? I had previously bought this for my passion plus, used only for 10 days and removed it. This is a chinese brand, which i bought for Rs. 450!

Just make sure that the bike is stable enough...

Some key things.

If the bike gives some mis-firings then you have made it a a bit lean(more of air) so ake it a bit richer.
If you feel a lot of gruint and vibs then you probably made it a richer(more of petrol intake) so decrease it.

Follow my vedio with above two symptoms, till the time you feel smoothness in pickup and needle of the RPM becomes stable(it should not dance)


Thats all you need.
For servicing get the oil changed air filter and spark plug cleaned and check the battery
This all will cost you hardly 100Rs.
Thats all what those SVC do.
No need to go there and waste time i do that only

What are the specs of your air filter, give some details please
Dude,there is an entire thread about air filters, you should read it, its very knowledgeable. I dont think installing a new air filter is a good option if you are not considering modification of you jets, exhaust, bore etc,.. you wont find any drastic change in power, you will see an increase in sound, but some users have mentioned that the sound often becomes irritating, so beware of that too :P

thanks for the video....but i like to make some correction what have u explained in that....

AFR screw is just to adjust the flow of air & not fuel (most of the members do know this). for 1gm (or vol) of fuel 14.7gm of air will be supplied... here u cannot increase or decrease the fuel qty....

when the air screw is turned clockwise (cw) the air supply will reduce which means it is a rich mixture when the screw is turned anti cw u r giving more amt of air per vol of fuel which means it is leaning out.....

keep the throttle setting has u said but not till 5k, 3k is more than enough when u turn the AFR screw the rpm will steadily increase which means u are leaning out (but it will decrease after certain turns lack of fuel to the supplied air) the rpm will decrease when the screw is tightened/turned cw where the mixture is rich............

turn the screw cw till u feel the engine will die later at that point unscrew till the rpm increase & the beat is continues... decrease the rpm to 1200 see the needle of tacho if it is oscillating to & fro then the tuning is not rite............this is a hard to set more we can go by just turns some bike need 3.5 turns of unscrewing from the fully locked position....

The new apache ABS has further reduced weight. Only 129 kgs (acc. to the ad) The original 180 weighs 137kg...

I am writing with my broken heart

Today when i noticed a kind of tirrrrrr sound. Well i thought might be tappet but there were two distinc sounds coming from my bike. I can easily distinguish, but fortunately when i reached office one of my collegues told that it is the crack sound. I was stunned and shocked. Well i reached the svc, and it was gone. The guy told that its gone but though it is in warranty he will try to replace it under that but unfortunately i have not carried out last three services.

Well i pray to god, that it gets done in the warrenty so far my approx bill is around 2500 but if it is not then the expenditure will go till 8000/- he said.

Guys i am down with my heart, so dissappointed that after keeping my bike like a baby,oil change done periodically and then also this has happend.
Dammmm bloddy mo....ther f......ker pune petrol pump wala........i was adding even IFTEX also to clean the carb but then also............dammm inki ......ma ka


But i have heard that after changing that power goes down, but that SVC guys is a bit learned he told that the power will increase and nothing will happen.
I am crossing my fingers i hope things go well.............

@blazing180 - the crank wont get damaged unless you were running without oil.. and if so, then not just crank, the cylinder kit also will get spoiled. All both these combined only will come to 8k to replace.
Now, skipping booklet service can have a serious impact on availing warranty... Hope they are kind to you!

I'm typing this with a broken heart! My last oil change was done at 25xxx odo. This past weekend, we Kerala xbhpians had a New Year G2G at Munnar hill station. It was a combination of offroading in the middle of forest and high speed cornering through the twisties. It was fun filled two days.

On the way back, after we climbed down from Munnar, the engine started making small knocking-kind of noise, just like that of loose tappet. I thought its just cos of the quick succession of down shift and upshifts combined with hard throttle on the way down the twisties. Called up a mech and he asked to check oil-level. I did, and it showed half way between the low and high mark of the dip stick. So I continued. Half way back to home, another guy suffered a bad puncture. Then I also noticed that the sound had increased a lot. We decided to stop over for the night (it was sunday late night).

On monday morning, took it to nearest TVS SVC, which was just 1km from where we stayed. They said its damage to crank. I was like.. WTH?? They drained the oil, and there was hardly some 100ml left, pitch black. (I've always had reasonable drain quantity, and mostly not even black!! ) That too at < 2k since last oil change. So the poured some oil, and started the engine. My heart broke at the scene that followed. The exhaust was full of smoke!! And those guys confirmed that piston rings, cylinder all are damaged.

They then said the engine needs to be opened up for assessing the extent of damage. Also, as they are sub-dealer they will need quite some time. The service manager there asked them to pour in brand new oil and to take it to my regular SVC and ask if it can be replaced under warranty. They poured 100ml extra oil (the normal TVS mineral oil) and asked me to ride slowly. It took us 3 hours to do 120km of super smooth roads.

Today I took it to my regular SVC. I skipped the fact about the smoke in exhaust, but mentioned the decrease in oil level. Now, their initial analysis is 'some problem with the head, need to open to see'. There are in for a big surprise when they open it up.

Current odo reading is 27135, 10th service as per booklet. Sincerely hoping the impeccable service records will help me getting it done under warranty. Looking back, now I'm glad I did all the services even though I wanted to kill everyone there after each service (it goes without saying their service sucks).
