  • @nithxp: The pic of blue Classic 500 that you have taken is indeed very good. The motorcycle does look extremely beautiful in that new color scheme.

By single tone color, I am guessing, it might mean that the bike would have same color body and chassis (as we can see in the pic, the chassis is also in blue color as rest of the body). So it might be meaning that!

However, I am especially so happy to see that new engine with FI and those new 18inch tyres with seemingly better rubber. Fantastic

      • Prabhu - do you know if RE is going to do anything about the exposed throttle and Fi mechanisms under the seat? Do you think the shipping bikes will have some cover for these bits? It is a ghastly eyesore and perhaps someone needs to provide feedback to RE.

yeah when i saw the bikes yesterday was bit worried about the injector n throttle assembly which was so exposed.....also found the same faded paint under the tank...as highlighted before by someone

also did you guys noticed or is it just me.....is there some sensor present on the silencer bend tube (near the exhaust port...may be oyxgen sensor) present in the international version missing in the indian one??

I had a second look at the exposed FI bits under the seat. In my opinion, some DIY cable management system will provide practical shielding for this problem, and it need not be chrome or metal sheath, it could simply be a wide hose with clip-tie's. I'm sure we'll think of something when we get the bike

Enfield doesn't clear-coat the underside of the tank IIRC. Even the attention to detail on the paint thickness on the underside is limited...same as other manufacturers also.

              • hi GS,
as U know the procedure to fix a FI issue - If the ECU screw up LED is on then, ground the output of the ECU and count the blinks of the LED. based on the count we would know faulty senser. Then check the wiring of that sensor. The problem should be fixed or else, short circuit that wire, the bike would start and can be ridden. For this, it would be better to ve a exposed wiring. But then any grease monkey can pullout a wire by mistake. looks like the RE knows it, but still it feels its OK to be like that.

If I remember correctly, there was wire coming out at top of the bend pipe(near the engine). Not sure if its the O2 sensor or the air pipe from the intake to the exhaust to burn the unburt gases.

Thank you for the reply to my query. Well, I must agree that too soft a suspension would actually just be good for jumping speed breakers, but then you make it too stiff & your handling goes for a toss again. But reading your reply, I am convinced that the handling has been taken care of & is better than previous versions.

Also, about the Thunderbird, I feel the problem with its front may also be attributed to the design of the bike, what do you think?

Thanks again for the prompt reply.

                    Take care.

                    Happy thumping,

I feel the design is a copy of HD sportster There the twin engine adds a bit for weight to the front, but in TB the engine is in the middle or more towards the rear wheel

                    • @shrek - for a 1.4 lakh bike, i wouldve xpected enfield to use some sort of a chrome cover or something, to hide the jumble of wires. Yes they can be taken care of ourselves, but one cover would not have been too tough for them to put.

Nobody can dispute your argument. For 1.44 lakhs OTR, I would expect a lot more from any manufacturer. But RE is in my opinion, a spoilt brat. We keep buying their bikes, even though the QC, build quality, innovation are all but absent. Still love the bike, still going to book one.

Not sure what the wire is for...but this is the pic of the bike we got for test ride

the wire u mentioned on the bend pipe is missing

But i noticed some wire coming out of the engine head next to the exhaust port....don't have a pic of it

The first RE i ever rode.....now i know why there are so many RE lovers!!!!!

                            • people say we will have to pay extra to get the single seat and the bent silencer.. is it true?
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

the bike comes with the rear seat as default...it can be removed (that is what the person at the showroom said me)
the bent silencer come as an after market accessory, costs around 2.6K , the exact price is mentioned in this thread some where
