for the bent silencer yes the come as after market accessory, costs around 2.6K , the exact price is mentioned in this thread some where
Nilesh, the sales guy at the Bandra Showroom was telling me something about the bent pipe, that it costs close to 3k and if I choose to fit it, then they won't exchange the straight pipe, so I'll end up having two brand new pipes for one bike.

    OT:
No worries, I've already thought of mounting the straight pipe on a wall on my room. And no, I won't pack dry ice into the pipe and run a usb fan blower to give the effect of an actual running pipe. Why? Because my dad is very close to punching me as it is, and I don't think I can push it anymore

    • Now that I see it, I notice the bent pipe is different from the standard 350 and electra pipes. The new pipes have two distinct bends, while the standard, and older pipes have a gradual sweeping curve instead. IMO, the gradual pipe looks really retro and good, the new one is too angular, but, it does align itself with the frame very nicely.

As regards the EFI messiness, well, we can't have it all now, can we.

            • Hey,

Those of you wondering about colour...

WELL THANK GOD that Enfield has done away with the shoddy looking Splendor/ Passion type of dual tone colours.

The most decent thing they have offered is the single colour on a bike.

              Colour Options:
The Blue - only available on Bullet Classic 500 - fuel injection
The Red - both Classic 500 and 350
The Black - both Classic 500 and 350
The Silver - only available on Bullet Classic 350 - twin spark ignition

For me - even a down payment as low as Rs 20000 is acceptable.
              LOL

Loans are subjective yaar - what one bank offers to one customer will not necessarily be offered by another bank to another customer.

Then there are the dealers themselves - who have various schemes and tie-ups with banks for loans/ vehicle purchase.

Why don't you want to specify a colour when buying a vehicle?
That's the strangest question yaar !!!
After paying 1.46 lakh - will you take anything they hand over to you?

As for changing your mind - well I guess you shouldn't give away thousands of money for a purchase and expect a seller to just hand it back to you.

Again different Dealerships have different ways of sale - so some may accept a minimum advance notice for cancelling booking - like within 10 days or one week of having paid down payment - etc.

Either ways - do you want an Enfield ? Or is it just the hype that is seducing you. I myself get so damn tempted to get this Classic 500 - but well - you either get an Enfield or you don't - there is no in-between.

This has been true of the previous Machismo models as well.

In all advertisments and posters they used to show the twin seat Machismo with windshield and all that jazz and then when you want to buy you realise that you would have discard a brand new seat and put in the after-market one they offer as official accessory/ parts.

So for Bullet Classic, the Rs. 1.46 lakh is not the true cost if you want the bike you see and admire and love in those photos.

Anyways, I wish Enfield would provide decent solutions.

One dealer told me that the factory made bike comes with the default seat and exhaust so there is no way to avoid the loss of removing these and then purchase the bent exhaust and fitting those.

So then you would have a spare brand new exhaust and spare seat - unless the dealer offers to buy it from you at scrap value.

              LOL

The sales people have no explanation for this - other than saying that this is the WW-II style Classic look.

LOL - living in the city where even the original stock seats get ripped by blades and mirrors get stolen and reflectors get kicked in and the tank that gets nailed - all deliberately by some ******** who think this is so funny and entertaining............

.... well - certainly it is a risk factor and I am not too happy with that.

But I do think it looks cool - kind of old school

Thanks for the response. I am little disappointed that there is very little details on the booking procedure. The point is, I have not seen the bike. Photos and the real thing can be very different.

                    DEPOSIT

A deposit usually means the dealer puts you on a waiting list. If you don't want the bike he received for the factory, he calls the next customer on the list who has put a deposit down. If the demand exceeds the supply then there should not be a question about the dealer giving a 100% refund -- they probably earned interest on it anyways.

                    PRE-ORDER

In cases where the customer make a special order (with accessories/options etcs,) and then places the deposit, I can see why the dealer may not return 100% of the deposit.

Overall it doesn't look bad...a bit on the "smaller" size and the single seat puts the rider right on the tank and very far up front. Nice riding position for city strafing and I'd like to experience the bike first-hand but they weren't offering test-rides.

Build quality is less than satisfactory. The whole bike vibrates despite the refinement promised by the UCE engine...riding this over long distances at 100kph will be uncomfortable.

The worst part is that the EFi seems to have been added on as an afterthought. The whole Fi mechanism is out in the open and a total eyesore with wires sticking out. Very easy for meddling hands to pull out some critical wire and you'll be stranded. The bike I saw also had signs of rust on the fuel filter/pump under the tank on the left side and signs of rust on the brake disks.
I saw the bike at Pune today and I completely agree with the above. The Fi being an eye sore. The wires and the Fi unit is out in the open.

Moreover the bike looks good only with the single seat (rear removed) and upswept exhaust.

It looks more of a city bike rather than a touring bike. The quality again is typical RE ... I had expected better from this international bike.

Eagerly awaiting deliveries and ride/tour reports from fellow members.

                      • Short Test Ride report 500 EFI

Yesterday, me and gsferrari landed at the Bandra RE showroom to ride the 500 EFI. The green bike was available with the conventional exhaust (very depressingly muffled) and single spring seat. After a few words of banter with Nilesh, the sales guy, we took the bike for a spin. I can say with conviction that the bike is not as quick as I expected it, with power delivery only noticeable at the far end of 2nd gear rev range entering into 3rd. The front disc inspires confidence, but all of that is lost by the soft forks that dive into the ground when braking hard. Considering that the TD bike was not registered yet, I could not take a longer spin around Bandra reclamation to check out the top speed, handling at speed etc. However, the short ride in city streets helped me understand that the 500 EFI is every bit as nimble in the city as its predecessors, allowing me to throw it around obstacles and brake hard without really scaring me. The bike could have thrown me off during one such panic braking session, but I was going too slow for that to happen. I am sure the front forks have been tampered with, because in the history of Bullets, never have the front forks seemed as spongy as this one's. At slower speeds inside the city, the spongy suspension might be a back-saver, but it will never translate to ride quality on the open highways at speed.

                        Likes:
                        1. Spring seat. Surprising because I have a low cut seat on my std 350 which I adore. I found the spring seat a little higher than I would have liked, but I could easily get used to it. It does work to give the ride a retro bouncy feel, and I'd pay good money for that.
                        2. Front disc. Enough said.
                        3. Exhaust note on the after market pipe fitted 500 EFI.
                        4. Awesome chrome overdose
                        5. The green and black bikes scream out with all the retro goodness that we love.

                        Dislikes:
                        1. Front forks. Too spongy by far.
                        2. Off the block pulling power is not even as good as the LB 500, which was pretty quick.

The rear shocks are devoid of their cover that hid the shiny spring underneath, the clutch/crank/gearbox cases are chromed, as are the cylinder heads, kick stand, swing arm frame decorations, head light dome visor, all in all, very very shiny..and that's all good.

How well the chromed bits last is anybodies guess though, our weather conditions near the coast and saline ground water (used to clean the bike) are never going to promote longevity.

                            • Classic 500

Guys, I am a newbie here and am nurturing Bullet Classic dreams.
I was going to buy the Classic 500 right away, by selling my T-Bird(currently owned) but the T-Bird started spewing problems.
Got it fixed, but the whole engine had to be opened and now I am 12 grand lighter. So I think i will stick to my Tbird for a little while longer.

So i read somewhere that the old 500 was NOT really a monster of a powerhouse or anything.
So have any of you ever ridden a 500 and a 350 both? any idea how they compare or what differece you are apt to notice first? Is it really worth going for a 500?

I am from Noida. Are there any xbhpians here? Preferably Enfield owners?
