  • I've logged on to xbhp after ages now, since the site crashed last, just to check the ownership reports of individuals owning a Ninja in India and their experiences. Since I am planning to buy one myself.

The experiences apart, all of the other talk of how much profit bajaj makes on it / why the ninja is utter crap and of-course other insensitive posts have ransacked this thread.

This is no longer a good read.

    Tch... Tch...

    • @bluevolt - ive had the opportunity to order parts from bajaj for my ninja. Takes about 3-5 days to come from pune. Guess the timeframe for reaching guys in blr/bom/pune itself would be drastically lesser, but they nearly have everything in stock, just in case ( touchwood) needed.

Good to know... would you have a 'menu list', by any chance, with prices? What did you order?

No one is complaining about the Ninja; if you are referring to Tenhut's post that was sarcasm. And so is mine a few posts below that.

@Sheelpriye - In most industrial products, the cost of production is not proportional to retail price or perceived consumer value. So making a 250cc is NOT 1/4 the cost of a 1000 cc motorbike. People are forgetting that Bajaj is also assembling the bike here so there are labor and overheads costs involved since a separate production line is engaged - 'profit' is not the only thing in this business.

This is an ownership thread, so please leave it for exactly that. Thanks.
also keep in mind that instead of 1 company making profits ,there are 2 co: that r taking good profits fron each bike sold

                Can we stop this? Please?

                Thank you.

                  • sorry for going OT,
I had/have few questions and shall ask/query at relevant place,

all the posts were taken in good spirits, sarcasm is good(like tenhut does) but certainly not this, this is an extreme case

                    and this one was funny-

i had/have no intention to deviate and had thought cost formed a part of ownership though profit making by some co. isn't, learned the hard way,

Please continue with the discussion and hope bhpians like jd, blue volt, ten hut shall answer all the more stupid questions i come up with,

                    • Went out on my first night ride in Bangalore with the Ninja today. I had to withdraw some money from the ATM, but then I thought, why not go to the one which was ten kilometers away? Seemed a nice excuse to take the Ninja for a night spin.

Since I was riding my RE for the past three days, I had to 're-learn' the Ninja for the first 10 minutes! But I quickly settled in, and concentrated on the dark roads ahead. I switched on my high beam, and the whole block got illuminated - this bike has some serious lighting. Maybe as bright as one of the street lamps on Marine drive in Mumbai, except for being waist high. The dash is also very bright, and the numbers on the analogue meters glow a luminous blue at night. Looks much better lit than in the daytime, that's for sure.

Bangalore is such a pleasure riding at night, but one has to be careful. Traffic lights flick amber on and off instead of being functional, so at every intersection you have to watch out for helmet-less speedsters and call center cabs who have a target of 500 pick-ups and drops a night. So any iota of traffic rules which existed during the day has evaporated in the evening calm, and you're pretty much on your own.

And all the bumps and potholes which you could skillfully avoid at noon lurk in the darkness to surprise you. I did go through a few hard bumps tonight, and would have knocked out any fillings if I had any. But I could average 50 km/hr on Bangalore roads tonight, which IS something to write home about...

Sorry I could not take any pictures, though I wanted to show the headlight spread on a pitch dark lane!

16k for both right and left? Or only one side?

                          Thanks

                          • @Bluevolt - I think the high-beam is too bright for the traffic on the receiving end.. BTW any specific place where I could get the embossed num plate?

@jd666 - Hey how much did the rim-lining cost (if that is what it is called )?

                              • @bluevolt - 16k for one side panel only. the whole fairing is around 38-39k ( all three pieces!!!).

@gourav - 300 bucks for the original yamaha rim tape, and 100 bucks for getting it installed.
