More expensive than the R1s and the Fireblades! (R1 fairings set: 25k, Fireblade : 27k). I would suggest getting hold of a local fabricator and getting it made out of fibreglass. Depending on who does the job, the finish is top notch. Only the decals would have to be bought.

Coming back to the real thing, can anyone please reply to my post here: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...tml#post361233
Also, does BAL order any other accessories or stuff if you are ready to pay them in advance for it?
Last question (for today): How is the spares supply? Atleast wear&tear items? If some owner has a crash, do they have the fairing, headlamp etc.parts also ready or do they order for it? If ordering, then how long does it take?
      Thanks.
I asked about this and Bajaj has adequate stock of all parts incl fairing. In pune, it will take two days for the part to be at the service station, in other cities I guess a couple of nmore days.

        Are you talking about this?

We can get it done here only at 50 Rs.

        why so overpriced?

Yup the parts are overpriced. The front rim of the ninja sells for about 4-4.5k in US. Even if i order it from there, and pay for shipping and import duty, it will not be more than 10k.

@haxor - The tapes from yamaha are pre-cut, and are of the radium type. And again, the sticker quality is much superior to the type that the sticker number plate people use. It will last longer. Pricey yes, worth it, yes.

I don't think it is exorbitant at least. Of course, am not considering any BAL markups. It depends on who is/are manufacturing the rims. For example, the R1 rims are manufactured by a Japanese company, and the landed price here in Bangalore is 65k.

Yes, the high beam is too much for oncoming traffic and it is wise to keep it at low beam. But there are times when you have no option but to switch to high.
Startrek got his numbers near my house in the RT Nagar market - will probably go there today and get mine. He told me it is near the Axis bank, but I have to check out the exact place. Rs.400 for the front windscreen sticker and rear plate, that's what Praveen paid. If I have time today, I will take out the fairings and remove the OEM front plate mount myself.

Ouch! Expensive indeed. Better not drop the bike, then. US prices are $234 a side. 16k is at a 42% premium over US prices.

              • The Sole reason for the high cost of spares is that all off them are imported not produced locally,if BAL start local production of bike and its spares then obviously the cost of the spares as well as of the bike will come down!

                • @rossiter - the rim is made by enkei, and its made in thailand. import duty on spares to bajaj is around 10-12%.

@bluevolt - Just be careful with the front rear view mirrors, they have a friction spacer which has a tendency to fall out if the mirror stem is removed from the mounts holding the RVM. Try and remove the assy complete ( as in with the mounts of the RVM).

Also you would need someone to hold the front fairing while opening up the bolts which hold the RVM.

Should be done in about an hour or so.

Thanks for the tip. I will work alone, so I plan to get the front cowling assembly to my room and place it on my bed while I loosen the bolts. The headlights assembly comes out with the front cowling, right? (I mean after disconnecting them)

                    Comment

                    • ^^ yup it comes out with the front cowling after disconnecting cables. You will have to remove the plastic console around the meter as well to get to the cowling bolts, plus there will be two on the side after you remove the side cowling.

The RVms are mounted on a metal frame behind the cowling. So you wont have to take the front cowl anywhere. you will simply have to remove the cowl, and unfasten the bolts holding the RVMs in place.

                      • Hey Guys,

My ninja had done 1800 kms & i started hearing a squeaking sound from the
front & the back brakes. I spoke with the senior service manager in pune & went to the service centre at
ghatkopar & the mechanics scrubbed my back brake pads with sand paper,
they opened up the front brakes & greased it. The noise stopped. Now
within 2 days i here the squeaking sound again. I am very dissapointed as
my brand new machine with ONLY 2000 kms on the clock is making these
                        sounds from both the brakes.

I have again contacted the senior service manager in Pune (Santosh) & he has asked me to bring the bike to the service centre sometime next week when he is down in mumbai so that he could personally inspect it.

Any of you guys facing the same problem & any advice would be much appreciated. - Thanks - Karan.

                          • Delivery Time / Service Experiance

                            Hi! Friends,
Just discovered this forum, while searching for ownership experiances of the Kwaker. I am from Hyderabad and have booked my Ninja on the 25th of Dec. They said the max delivery time is 3 months but most people are getting it within 2 months. How far is it true? Also has anyone on the forum gone for his first service yet? Are the Bajaj technicians up to the task of servicing the Ninja?
                            The company I keep:
                            Yamaha Rx100
                            Yamaha RD 350 (HT)
                            Bajaj Pulsar 150
                            Kawasaki Ninja 250r

                            • ^^ guess you will have to read thru the entire thread to answer that. in short, they are upto servicing the ninja, and also the waiting time is the maximum possible, so your bike can be delivered earlier.. for instance i got my bike the same day i paid for it!!

Maybe some dirt, gravel must have gone into the brake calipers and making the squeaking sound.put the bike on the mains and throw a high pressure water in the pads while rotating the wheel, this will clear all the dirt, grime and debris and will eliminate the noice.
