Hey Guys,
I have clocked abt 2000km on my bike and i am feeling a bit of "tingling" vibrations in my bike espcially on the handle bars and the footpeg. The vibes start at different revs in each gear(1st-6500rpm, 2nd-7000 ,3rd-8500 and so on).
After riding in those rev ranges i feel my hands and feets "tingling" for some time.
Is it normal for all of u or is my engine not broken in well yet?

Well I had this tingling problems at higher revs. Took it to the probiking showroom and the final analysis was that it was due to a play in the clutch. Try placing your hand on the clutch when u rev it hard and if the sound disappears, voila, you have the solution. Check if ur footpeg is loose. Might be due to too much corneringOriginally posted by The Stig View PostHey Guys,

Sure. Cooling system is completely water tight. Otherwise, the coolant will leak outside. Also if you look closely, in every car, the engine bay is not covered from the bottom so in rains, water gets inside the engine bay without creating any problem for the radiator or cooling system.Originally posted by invincible2110 View Postguys ... can we ride the ninja in the rains....cause the radiator is fully exposed?
I would like to tell about an incident which happened yesterday morning.
I had gone on a ride and was doing around 120 kmph on NH4. While climbing crest of a bridge, there was a big bump. My bike flew up from the bump and landed with front wheel crossed (front wheel not in line with rest of the bike). The bike shook itself violently. So much so that the rear view mirrors shook themselves loose. It was a classic case of tank slap but before I could think about any kind of action, the bike righted itself and continued as if nothing had happened.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Guess, there is a lesson in there for all of us. Never speed on a road you are unfamiliar with. When you plan to go on 100 + speeds, it is absolutely essential that you know exactly where the brake points are.The company I keep:

Jokes apart...it is good to know that you did not suffer any injury and also good to know that the bike is durable and its handling is great.

Congratulations on the purchase and the ride. If you rode the bike while it rained, then that makes the two of us. It rained cats and dog all the way when I picked up my bike and rode it all the way back home. (The Pune service station for Ninja seems light years away from where I stay..more so as it is in the more crowded part of Pune).Originally posted by vkuchhal View Posthi all,
Sorry for the delay in reply.
MY last post was from Mysore, but recently got posted to Bangalore on a long term transfer , so now a part of the bangalore group.
Finally a 12year old dream is fulfilled.On Friday, 14th , i got my bike.
To Start with the details, i was not able to sleep on Thursday thinking that tomorrow is the day, when a dream will come true. slept for few hours and got up at 5.20am. got ready and went to the office at 7:30am, just so that i may leave early to pick up ma bike.this was the first time in the entire career of 3yrs working that i had reached so early(otherwise i follow a principle "come late to the office, and make up by leaving early"
)
Left office at 1pm to lalbagh to buy helmet first (safety first or fear of being caught by police
).took bus, auto and had to walk quite a deal to reach lalbagh from electronic city.. got the LS2 for 3300...
.
Reached khivraj at 4:30pm. saw my bike
. i was thrilled.
Prasanna explained all details, and i rode out of the showroom at 6pm, but to my disappointment it started raining.I went to the nearest filling station at old airport road.
I saw heads turning and at the filling station , cleaner guy came to me just to clean the bike with some cleaning liquid in his hand. i knew he just wanted to touch the bike and have a good feel, but my denial disappointed him. finally gave the energizer (91 octane) to ma baby and went rolling back on it.
Few observations made on the road - people try to come as near to you just to look more closely to the bike
, every one pointing my out about the lights and i in return giving them a nod and a smile.
keeping to a limit of 4k rpm is a tough task although i am giving my best shot to maintain it.
Till now done 180kms within the Bangalore city, more of that on hosur road and the flyover too, and is satisfied that this bike is worth for every penny spent.
As for the other updates, i have ordered the Xena xx6 disc lock alarm from eBay, soon i frnd of mine coming to India shall hand it over to me.
Desparately waiting for the bike cover to arrive at the khivraj,( taki meri bike ko kisi ki nazar na lage
)
That was all for the time being... shall be contributing more later...
Being new to Bangalore, shall look for fellow ninja riders to provide me with pointers where i can run in my bike freely ( without bumper to bumper traffic) as i am bored of hosur road.
Just PM me or call me at 9731930729, if any one wants to ride together.
Anyway, keep enjoying the ride and keep feeding back!
Cheers,
Ashutosh

Dooood ! That was a close shave mate ! The ninja 250R doesnt have a steering damper..there is nothing to stop tank slapping getting out of control.Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostThe bike shook itself violently. Its a good thing that you didnt try to stop the tank slap by putting more pressure on the handlebars. People fracture their wrists when they hold onto the bars tight during a tankslap. Also holding onto the bar tight will impede in the bikes way of recovering itself.
Sucker, you didnt even tell us about it !sigpic
when i ride bullet before my bullet was solid condition but i once race with a Ceilo car and my engine size. mechancic say bullet is good bike but no racing. it is good for three people and very powerful.

It shook my confidence in my tiny riding skills but increased confidence in bike’s handling a lot.
). Very fortunate both the times. The first was scarier bcos I was standing on the pegs and my nose was almost touching the front windscreen bcos i was trying to be as gentle on my handle as possible. Thought would fall over the bike
. An invisible hand saved me thou
Yes absolutely spot onOriginally posted by TenHut View PostDooood ! That was a close shave mate ! The ninja 250R doesnt have a steering damper..there is nothing to stop tank slapping getting out of control.

. The key is to reduce the pressure on the handle bar while simultaneously keeping a comfortable body position standing on the pegs
The ride was very eventful and you missed all the action. Too bad u didnt come on the NInja
. Vishwas was fortunate and I wasnt and ended up in a small ditch (if u cud call that)
Was riding a lil fast and there was a slight ascent and a small sign board on a curve between Aamby to Lonavala. The signboard wasnt quite clear and i was focussing hard to read it and then i realized that i am almost on the curve. Braked hard, the rear swung a lil bit. Went off the road, ended up in the ditch and droppped my bike
. Fortunately there was no vehicle coming from the other side. Except for a couple of scratches on the fairing and the silencer and an indicator which jetted out on impact (but has been press fitted back and is absolutely working fine), no damage to both the rider and bike. Very lucky once again

Ownership Experiences
Thank all of you for your wishes....
@ashutosh: i rode the bike in rain...
and was happy to found out that the tires grip very well , as but was not the case with my earlier bike (XCD 125) which had pathetic tires.
yesterday i made another trip ,under heavy downpour at bannerghatta road, with the road having too much of those water puddles, and a friend of mine was sitting on the pillion seat.
To my observation the rear tyre throws too much of dirt on the area near the rear footpegs , so the shoes, socks and jeans of my friend became dirty, to which i had to apologies for it.
Is their any solution for it, as the monsoon are on the near corner, and i hate to make apologies
.
i was going thru the the detail of DIY of the FZ hugger on ninja, but i am not that good on DIY, so any one who has done it, we can meet and hence try installing it on my bike also.
any help will be appreciated....
PS: does a member of xbhp own a ninja 250 and work in Infosys, bangalore. because i have seen one entering the campus premises recently.RIP Marco

I think you misunderstood what I had written. There was no question of brake point since I was going absolutely straight and climbing on a bridge and accelerating at that time.Originally posted by Yasser View Post

I dont think that maybe the issue as i was having the same feeling in the lower rev ranges earlier on but it shifted to higher rev ranges as i racked up some more kms on the odo....
I maybe a bit paranoid but is ur bike absolutely vibes free.I mean literally hand on heart no vibes at all??

Many seasoned riders say Amby is more challenging due to its sudden gradients changesOriginally posted by Hyperion View PostVery sorry to hear that and glad to hear that you are okay.

I personally find Lavasa more technical and too many corners are blind corners. Also at lavasa you never have as good a vision as at Amby..the drivers at lavasa are all villagers who love to ride in your lane et all.
EDIT : sagar46 now thinks that lavasa is far more techical and difficult than amby...especially the descent.Last edited by TenHut; 05-17-2010, 06:01 PM.sigpic
