  • Hey guys, I am getting Pirelli Sport Demon tyres (110/70/17 front and rear 130/70/17) for Rs.10,000 in tokyo. Is it a good deal? how much are those in India? Is there a danger of getting Chinese knock-offs in place like Karol bagh in delhi?

And does anyone have experience with checking in tyres while flying into India? Did you face any problems?

    Thanks!

    • ^^ automobile spares have a custom duty of 36.5 percent on the invoice. I checked with the customs officer a few days back ( shouldve seen the look of curiousity on his face ). Ill check for tyres if you want. But you will have to keep the original invoice with you for customs.

@ashutosh: i rode the bike in rain... and was happy to found out that the tires grip very well , as but was not the case with my earlier bike (XCD 125) which had pathetic tires.
I had mentioned precisely the same thing in my first ride impression when I had got the bike home. The bike doesnt appear to be skidding or losing balance at any point of time while you ride it in rain on roads where you splash water around.

        Cheers..

                  • I would be going out of town for 2 weeks. Do I need to disconnect the battery terminals or leave the bike as is? Is there any other thing that requires attention in the bike before I lock it down in the garage for 2 week idle period?

                      That is a good question...!!!

I have been told to start bike at least once in 4 days, if not riding for a long time. No idea how to hibernate the bike for 2 weeks...

I have left the bike unused for about a week while I was travelling and had no issues after that...disconnecting the battery should do the trick

however if you wanna be really safe you can look at the manual (pg 137), it has detailed instructions, but I think they are for long term storage.

I use my bike once in ten days and I have had no issues with it. The moment I press the ignition button it starts. Not sure about the long term effects though. At max the battery could get screwed up.

                          • bike has been left un used for 2-3weeks, no issues, fired up at the first starter. So for the first year, i would suggest once in 2 weeks is good. But do it more frequently as the battery grows older.

Congrats and hope to see you on our rides and G2Gs. I think that you should buy a riding jacket and knee pads asap. DSG sales good quality stuff.
