I am on the verge of completing the 1k mark and the service is due any moment. Spoke to the Khivraj guy (one of the engineers) and asked him if it was OK to ride for a couple of 100 kms (like 200-250kms) after the 1k mark as I have a ride/meet on sunday. He said it is ok and no issues to the engine or the bike.

The thing is I will have the vehicle picked up from my office on Monday morning by the service center guys for servicing and they will also drop it back by noon.

I dont want to leave the bike parked without a cover in the office for the fear of someone damaging it. So i was thinking of buying the Ninja cover that is sold by Bajaj. Please let me know if it is ok to use this when the bike is hot or should I wait till it cools down.

The engineer said that 90% no risk of it touching the hot parts of the bike but if it does, it will melt.

Where can i buy a heatproof cover for my ninja. I dont want to park the bike in my office without a camo. Hope to buy one tomorrow so please help. thnx in advance.
you buy from bajaj or simply use the XL size of bullet aby cover if you put on hot silencer it will tend to melt
The best idea is to cover the bike and let the silence area remain open, in any ways nobody is going to make out ,, as there is nothing so good looking special in this exhaust

I am using bullet cover ,, its solving purpose well for Rs 280/-

Revmatching is good. But it is not done to ensure smooth shifts or to stay in powerband...although staying in the powerband may be the positive side effect it is necessarily done to avoid fishtailing the bike.
        • You blip your throttle with clutch pulled in to match the speed of your transmission to that of the engine.
        • You are cruising at 100 kmph in 6th gear at 6k rpm. The engine is spinning at 6k rpm and the transmission is spinning at 6k rpm.
        • Now u wanna shift down. If you shift one gear down ur engine will be spinning at 6k rpm while your transmission will spin up to 7 or 7.5 k rpm as 6th gear ratios are different than 5th gear ratios.
        • So you pull in your clutch...blip the throttle to bring the engine to the speed at which the transmission will be once u downshift. ie. at 7 or 7.5k
        • Now you downshift.

Not blipping the throttle at high speeds on anything above the 250R will result in your rear wheel locking and then fishtailing the shit out of the bike. You will find yourself shitting your pants. Its a healthy habit to blip the throttle no matter what bike it is as it also avoids undue wear and tear of machine parts. Slipper clutches have made blipping redundant but then thats a debatable topic.

This difference between transmission speed and engine speed is also responsible for the loud thud/clunk when you shift the bike in first from standstill. The reason it clunks is because there are two shafts in your transmission -- one connected to the chain/wheel and one to the engine. When you downshift, you suddenly change the speed at which the chain/wheel shaft spins so the other shaft has to instantly change speeds to match it -- with a bang! The bigger the speed difference the bigger the 'thud'. You guys should check out the first gear thud on the Blade..it throws the rider away lol

Putting a synthetic cover when your bikes hot will make your paintjob undergo hot/cold cycles. You will be able to peel off the paintjob eventually if you make it a habit to throw a cover on a piping hot bike. Melting the cover will be the least of your worries then.

These tingling sensations are only going to increase with time. The initial refinement now has to go and the bike has to develop a charachter...both in sound and feel.
You can always tighten the fairing to get rid of excessive vibrations but mind you, you will never make them vanish forever.
Take the alan key from your tool box and tighten the fairing or take it to PBK and tell them " fairing has gone loose"
Its common to all faired bikes....nothing to do with your engine breaking in. You can relax

If you are looking for a long term use buy Oxford bike cover. It will be costly, but reliable and lasting. You will get it according to your needed solutions...Rain/Heat/Sun/Scratch/Silencer heat....

You can get it from Performance Racing..

That was very informative. Thanks a ton TenHut. I've mostly been into cars and just forayed into the performance bikes (if you can call that) and hence my knowledge is very limited. Nevertheless thanks for adding to the topic.

Any idea how much it costs at Performance Racing and do they ship it too Bangalore / other cities? I saw the website and on eBay it costs around 60 pounds plus shipping (from UK).

They do ship to Bangalore, i'd suggest you drop em a mail. BTW it may be a tad cheaper just to get it from e-bay as Performance Racing will also put some margin on it.

I bought the OE cover from PBK Chennai for Rs.980/- - It definitely will NOT disguise your bike since it has "Kawasaki" and "Ninja" in bold letters printed on it!!
