All aftermarket pipes are illegal AFAIK, even in the USofA.

I was lusting after the MGP Growler and the M4 carbon exhaust, but realized that the MGP one is way too loud. It sounds good on you-tube but at higher revv's it'll sound like a radio controlled aircraft or a motocross bike. I even spoke to TenHut to make my decision concrete.

So the MGP is out. I love the stock sound of the ninja. I might just order the M4 but not anytime soon. Try and see some video's of the M4 exhaust. They sound deep and nice. MGP growler is more like a straight pipe. There is almost zilch restriction on that pipe and you'll get fined more often than not by cops, not to mention that your neighbors will want to kill you very soon for disturbing them.

    All the best.

P.S. I've always wanted an inline four bike just for the growl and hair raising sound but that's probably another lifetime away.

    • Dream come true (finally!)

After months of reading (and re-reading) through ninja & r15 forums and cursing my fortune, I finally took the decision... that I would settle with r15 (even my mom & wife backed this decision). The date got fixed.

But somewhere, something else was already planned. As the celestial objects aligned, I befriended someone on facebook. And in his next post, he wanted to sell his 250R. This fellow was TenHut. I, being a silent spectator on xbhp, knew the bike since the time he bought it. His trip to chennai & CSS, all revolved in front of my eyes. Called him up & fixed a meeting to see her in person.

After enough of eye soothing experience, I took the test ride. This was my first ever ride on any big bike (i own a 1994 rx100). I immediately fell for it and the r15 plan trashed.
What happened next was rounds after rounds of convincing my parents/wife, sucking all my savings (phew, who says owning something like this is easy!)

I finally managed to bring her home on July 2nd week. Since then, can't get enough of her.. Spending most of my non-office time in my parking only.. thinking about one thing only... etching to ride it hard once the rain is over. Man, this is what they call addiction!

Christened her 'TheGreenBeret' (those who have played Commandos can easily relate).

Hats off to TenHut for making this all possible. You don't have any idea what u've gave me. I owe you one, bud.

      • Ahh, great.
the ninja stays on our forum.
I was worried that some buyer may buy it and never log on to xBHP again, and we lose all the updates on it.

What price did you pay for it?

        • guys i have completed about 3700kms on my ninja, when i ride it off late d bike bikes a bit rough, is it something to do with the engine oil? i have been considering to change it for a while now, any suggestions?

          • Clean the air filter and then pop it back in. You will immediately feel a difference. The oil should not be the issue.

Hey JD, if you need help, let me know. Send me all the details like month and year of purchase, kms on the odo, accessories if any, price expected, etc. etc. and I'll spread the word around.

I've got a few acquaintances who want to buy the ninja but the 3 lacs + price tag is putting them off.

@Vrathor - congrats on the ninja. Ride safe. She is an awesome machine and perfect for our roads.

You would have got a better response(maybe sold the bike by mow) had you put a price on it.

The bike was bought on nov 19th 2009, it got registered in Dec. has done first service, 6 chain cleaning procedures, twice the chain tension has been adjusted.

                              - The front number plate mount and number plate has been removed at the SVC ( i retain the mount if needed. )

                              - The chain guard has been removed and the FZ guard put to protect the mono shock. ( chain guard is with me )

                              - Bike has been thru a 3M wax/polish, and stickering was carried out on it as shown in the pics, for ease of removal when bored.

                              - As of now the ODO is reading 2960 kms or so, since i am running it, so im guessing by the time it sells, 3000-3200 kms would be the ODO reading.

                              - Its running semi synth oil, oil filter was replaced, air filter was cleaned, spark plugs checked and gaps adjusted.

Im open to an offer, because like what Ten-Hut got for his bike, though he had a number of accessories to offer and what not, still was a good price. Im not sure what would be a good price, so im actually waiting for the best possible offer. Have received offers from 1.8-2.3 lakhs.
