No solution found out yet on this issue !

@ the option between the two .... i feel it's tough. It's personal choice !

If you want to get yourself attached to the Old heritage and the royal feeling you may stick to the bullet, If you want a new fresh look .. experience the advance technologies go for ZMR.

    • well you can get a crash guard for zma-r but not for zmr as it is fully faired.

still you can get it but you have to remove lower portion of fairing and that will spoil its looks.

and crash guards are of very less use..........so the choice is yours.

      • crash guards of no use?

why do you say that crash guards are of no use? i tht that if one was to fall down it would be the crash guard to save your leg?

how would that happen in a zmr?

The fairing itself will save your leg.
To protect the fairing, there is something known as frame sliders/crash bobbins, but don't think they can be fitted onto the ZMR/R15.

As Sarvajit said, the fairing itself will protect your legs. And about leg guards, they bend at the slightest falls (I'v seen that in a P200 & RTR several times), I wonder how will they protect legs!

I'll any day trust a fairing to save my legs, rather than those so called hollow tin leg guards.

            • crash guard

              hey,

see, i dont really care what happens to the bike on a fall... my only consern is that will my leg get hurt or or is the fairing strong enough to prevent my leg from getting hurt.

              thanks

Care to explain? I had a crashguard + sarree guard on my old zma. The bike skidded due to gravel on a ghat road when i was at tripple digit speeds and the bike went crashing into the tarmac. It saved me from getting pinned under the bike.

Final damage to bike - Nothing apart from a few scratches on the front and tail piece, mirror glass cracked + guard mount got bent!

Damage to me - dislocated shoulder and severed knee.

Picked the bike up as i was solo and rode about 8kms till i found a dhaba and called for help followed by an agonizing 12hr wait to get medical attention.

If not for that crash guard, i would have probably been pinned under the bike and bled to death!

                Cheers!

definitely it is a safety tool.......but it is not fittable in zmr

falling from bike is inevitable.........i think company must have designed it well in the sense that it protects rider in case of a fall.

what if you were riding a r1 or a fireblade would you say that the company should have designed a crash guard for that bike also ,crash guard is a commuter thing only, thats why wear safety gear always

                      • well

yes but the thing is im not riding a r1 or a fireblade which are > 10lakh bikes compared to karizma zmr which is a 1 lakh bike.

i need a bike that will keep me alive if i'm riding and have a fall.

anyways. thanks everyone. iv made my decision. Twinspark Electra will be my bride.

Strange, that you got so many injuries... Lets see my case, very similar (I own a ZMA-R)

I had no crashguard, just a sarree guard on my ZMA-R. The bike skidded due to OIL on a ghat road (expressway) when i was at tripple digit speeds, cornering with 10 kgs of luggage tied behind and the bike went crashing into the tarmac for 100 mts. I skidded along.

Final damage to bike - Nothing apart from a few scratches on the front and tail piece, NO mirror glass cracked, only saree guard scraped & Handle bent.

Damage to me - I just stood up & walked away in ANGER. Rode 150 kms after that. (I was wearing Gears ofcourse)

This wasnt the first time I was crashing. All the time I had crashed, the front fairing & handles saved me. Never-ever my fairing got damaged in these kinda crashes (skids i mean). If your position is wrong or if you panic, you are bound to get injuries.
Crash guard just saves the fairing, not your legs. Sumtimes possibly your legs can even get stuck in a bent crash guard while crashing, ever thought of that?

SBKs exactly have no crash guards, but they are the safest to ride, safer than our Indian Products...

BUT Dude if your riding is rash, fast & uncontrollable, NO BIKE or NO CRASH GUARD will protect you or your LEGS.

Anyways Congrats for the Electra, nice bike I like it. CHEERS!!!

So my opinion, CRASH GUARD saving your Legs is a MYTH, its just a Mental Block.

                            Jagjot.
I had many crashes on ZMA and I am still alive and so is the case with many members here. Surprisingly, contrary to your thinking, never had an injury to the legs.

I am sure many have had crashes on Karizma (for that matter r-15 and other bikes) on this forum and are still alive.

And, I have seen at least four crashes of thumpers, all are minor only, but the riders were injured severely, inlcuding fractures to hands. Now, do you think a crash guard on thinderbird keep you alive in case of a fall?

As said by Spidy, crash guard will save only the fairing. In some cases it may save your legs, but in other cases it will hurt your legs too.

In a crash whether you will be alive or not will depend on the severity and magnitude of the crash, and to some/most extent your fate, and not what bike you ride.

@ Jagjot it does not make too much sense to choose the Bullet cos a crash guard can fit on it, get a bullet if you love bullets if you re into the rding style of brit singles of the yester years, even though the Electra twinspark comes with the new UCE it still maintains it s charecteristic of a bullet a classic brit single. Go for it you are into that kinda thing. Cos end of the day that crash guard is gonna protect the lusious paint on your tank and for your knees you d need knee guards . The ZMR is a diffrent ball game altogether it's HONDA'S PGMFi equipped super smooth machine a beautiful and even power delivery whre as the Bullet is quite the opposite when it delivers it's power it rattles and tells you it's doing it.
