  • Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR

    Dear Friends,

I own a 2010 model Karizma ZMR.. My stock MRF tyres had clocked around 37,000 kms.
I'm planning to change them at the earliest.

The tyres I have been using are:
    Front: MRF Zapper FS (80/100 x 18 - 47 P)
    Back: MRF Zapper Y (100/90 x 18 - 56 P)

Kindly suggest me tyres that have good road grip in both dry & wet conditions.
I drive my bike around 70-75% in city roads

    Dear Moderators,
I did post this in Tyres section but received only one feedback over the past 2 days.
I need to change the tyres at the earliest & that is the reason why I re-post it here hoping for a timely help!

Though you can try the vinyl on the windshield and silencer heat shield, will look good.

Replaced front brake switch again. I feel karizma spares of late have worsened in quality.
Opted for Pulsar's switch. Direct fit and looks sturdy too.

Instead of going for OE you could have gone for minda make of Karizma. The Minda ones last longer than Kunal and Anu make.

I'm finding the engine losing refinement beyond 5000rpm. The sound is not good. What could be the reason guys?

Engine oil, air filter, chain slack or an un-lubed chain.
                Does the bike feel coarse?

Yes, could this be a reason? I think the engine oil has been filled over-the-top Mark.

There is oil over the KRY marking. I just took this reading on a cold morning before starting bike. Didn't screw the stick in, just placed it. Oil is stock and used for 1.5K km.

Otherwise air filter is new. Will take bike to ASC for chain cleaning on a weekday.

Get the oil replaced. Fill in 1 liter and observe the level after an hour or so. You may add 100 ml later. 1500 km on stock oil is enough.

How do you measure oil level ? By screwing the dip stick completely or by just placing it on top ?

Idle the bike for about a minute and ride it as though you're running in for a few kms so that the bike reaches its optimum temperature.. Shouldn't feel coarse after.

After a ride put it on main stand and let the oil settle for about an hour. Note remove the dipstick, wipe it off, dip in again, screw it completely, remove and check.

Edit- sorry you're not supposed to screw it in. Just dip and check.

I always idle for 1 minute when I start the bike. Though I rarely see others doing it.

How is your bike doing after the fuel pump cleaning? Would you recommend that?

Is the issue resolved ? (which you mentioned earlier)

No, you aren't supposed to screw it in. And always measure oil level after a minimum half an hour of shutting down the engine, as the oil takes time to trickle down the radiator.
