How is your bike doing after the fuel pump cleaning? Would you recommend that?

I don't think you're supposed to screw it in,

The service mechanic opened up the fuel pump and drained out all the petrol which was inside.

There are three hubs.
One comes from the battery, which is the source.

The second connection is from the fuel tank. As you can see a tube is attached with a tool similar to a clamp/plier. That was to stop petrol from flowing out.

The third hub is for the injector.

Anyway, the pump seems to be fine. Now I suspect the fuel filter and the injectors. The problem still persists.
Bike lags as though its out of petrol somewhere between 3.5k-4.5k range.

I've been using system g for a while, so the injectors should be clean.
Have no idea what the problem is..

Leave the bike on main stand for at least 30 min. 1 hour preferred. Best time - morning.
Keep the screw on top, don't turn it in. The reading should be between min and max markers.

I always idle for 1 minute when I start the bike. Though I rarely see others doing it.
1500 kms is the max stock Hero oil can help.

I'll share my routine with all. Some maybe myths but they work for me.

1. Morning starts - 90 sec idling at least. (to office)
2. No revving above 4.5k or below 3k for the first 4-5 kms daily.
3. Absolutely no lugging EVER!
4. Idling for 30 seconds after every long city commute (>15 kms or 40 mins) before turning off the ignition.
5. Evening starts (ideally a gap of 8+ hours) - 45-60 sec idling. (from office)
6. Chain lubed always with grease.
7. Chain cleaning every alternate lube session.
8. Chain lube every 500 km.
9. Full sprockets dismantle + clean + lube every 3k kms.
10. Redline for a few sec once in a while every month.
11. Always fill in 1100 ml oil (1 L works too).
12. Air filter replacement at 9-10k kms. (no compromise)
13. Spark plug replacement every 12-14k kms. (no compromise)
14. Replace O rings every alternate oil change.

Removed my snorkel again to enjoy the roar. Will be put back in a few days. No harm to engine!

Btw sarkartheruler why do you think you're not supposed to screw it in?

Bro also check the battery terminals and connections once for loose contact.

I remember meeting a ZMR owner at SVC who had same issue and the problem was with loose battery connections.

Just sharing my view Hope it helps.

Get injectors and fuel filter checked. My case was worse than yours. Not just lag, the engine would shut itself down specially while changing gears. I still don't know whar the problem was. But after getting the pump, filter and injector cleaned and fitted back, the problem has vanished and its almost a year and a half since its vanished.
Also add the ignition coil to your checklist. Very important. Get it checked.

Thanks all for the response. I was hearing mixed opinions about dipping the stick full or not. Now cleared.

2. No revving above 4.5k or below 3k for the first 4-5 kms daily.
- > Above 4.5k is okay, how will you manage below 3k ?

4. Idling for 30 seconds after every long city commute (>15 kms or 40 mins) before turning off the ignition.
-> I thought this is done for turbo charged vehicles where turbo will not be cooled quickly with natural air circulation.

6. Chain lubed always with grease.
-> You run with chain case or open chain ?

9. Full sprockets dismantle + clean + lube every 3k kms.
-> You seem to have real good patience to do this.

1. Ha ha ha. Good catch! I meant not to lug.

2. Yes, inspired by them only. Many say its not needed for NA motors, but I feel it this way:
You go to the gym.
You warm up. - That's me idling at cold starts.
You exercise.
Finally you warm down/strech before going back, else you have body ache. - That's me idling in the evening.

3. Case all the way! Had it open for sometime, but put it back.

hey guys.... There is one issue these days on my bike coming up.. i thought before sharing with the service center I will give a try here as I think you guys will be more helpful..

many times when I run the bike the engine seems to gasp for the pull and feel that u giving the throttle but engine not responding like missing .. but when I go above 70 the engine tends to be ok..... also the pull is non linear . My bike runs on fully synthetic Motul engine oil with Knn Filter..... after running for some time it seems to get better......

I read somewhere that there might be some impurity in fuel tank. is that the issue???

and yes I do idle bike for 2 min before the ride every time.

Cheers!!!

(Assuming air filter, spark plugs and tire pressure are normal)

Maybe clutch plates too. How many kms covered?
What RPM does your bike show at 64 kmph, 72 kmph and 88 kmph respectively?

Get the accelerator cables/throttle body cleaned as well.

FYI, ideally these should be the figures.

In 5th gear:
64 kmph - 4000 RPM
72 kmph - 4500 RPM
88 kmph - 5500 RPM

Where is the K&N installed ? Throttle body or inside the air filter box (under seat).
How often do you clean and re-oil K&N ?
If you are getting K&N cleaned from workshops, I doubt if they use K&N OIL to recharge the filter.
