• Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR

Recently I had a fall from my bike after my front wheel disc getting locked in gravel. After that there is a huuuuge issue I am facing which the service center guys are not able to rectify.

1. Front wheel locks intermittently mostly in dusty/irregular roads
2. Front wheel seems a bit loose while riding but when I keep it in stand and try shaking the wheel, it is not at all loose
3. Front section tends to lose balance a lot in irregular or gravelly roads
4. Front section wobbles when I travel over gravel

Things done:
Service center change wheel bearings. No change

Hope you're fine and recovering fast.
Get the forks checked as well. Use rear brake and front brake in equal measure in gravel.

Also, how's the tire tread? Too old?
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Tires are having enough grip left. Forks are not bent. Also mechanic tried pushing them hard to and fro and the shocks move in and out without any problem. Will it be because of the coneset? As the shocks move in and out without any sound, mechanic told, ball racers are working without any issue.

Tires are made of rubber and rubber ages, You can see numerous bikes on road with tires having treads like new but are 4-5 yrs old. Its as simple as this , if tire is old , you got to replace it no matter it has tread left or not. Tire tread is a measure only when tire is less than 3 yr old .

Forks are not bent
..
You can only say this by removing fork tubes and rolling them over flat surface like flat bench in machine workshop. If it has .01mm runout then fork is said to be bent , since its not quite a headache , check its straightness when you get front end overhaul done.

But, it is not a balance issue. It is like the front end is loose. The bike's front end shivers in loose gravel or uneven roads.

Can you get the cone set inspected? It could be loose cone set as well.. when did you last check it?

Coneset seems loose or bearings are shot . Tighten coneset and see if problem reduces.

What is the price of the coneset for the karizma zmr?

I dont know exact price but , rreneav1987 and Divya.sharan know it.
Fitting of coneset itself is a skilled work and i doubt svc can do it . My unicorn had similar issue with tak noise from handle while going over bumps, This was resolved by tightening the coneset.

It used to cost 465/- a couple of years back.. I am not sure about the cost now.. the labor charges would cost almost half the cost of coneset.. it is a very tedious job and time consuming..

I got it for 450 or 480 last year. Don't remember exactly. I don't rely on the SVC and my mech charged 150 as labor (his standard charge for any damn thing). SVC may charge more.

Bro my bike seems to swing when i take turns or avoid potholes at low speeds. Gives a sense as if am about loose balance. Do you think only the cone set?

Steering/swing arm bushes. Apart from cone set. Re-tightening would prolly get you through!

This assuming your forks aren't bent.

Hi Divya,
My ZMR too had this little wobble problem, my mechanic tightened all the nuts especially the swing arm. Then it stopped. What is not stopped is the heavy vibration in the rear foot rest which goes up as rpm goes high. Mechanic says changing the swing arm bush is the solution. Shall I change it. Is there any other bushes that needs to be changed. Thanks.
