My boss was sharing his experiences with bike riding(many years ago).

He said that he used to change his engine oil.

After draining the old oil. he used to pour 200 ML OF PETROL IN THE ENGINE . Didn't start. kept it like that for 20 minutes and drain it. then pour the engine oil.

He is a genuine guy by nature but this seems bullshit. Didn't understand where to post this story to understand the validity of it so posting here. How credible is this process??

Even 1% of fuel(gasoline here) in engine-oil can alter vital characteristics of oil, viz flash point and viscosity.

Even though gasoline vapourises over time from crankcase, damage is already dealt by then.

Diesel is used by many, but petrol would be a disaster. We had a thread on it. http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/...an-engine.html
P.S - Although petrol is highly flammable, it would vaporize and leave no stains unlike diesel.

Thanx for the link. So the process may/may not be wrong but his story was not a lie.

Poured into the engine from where ? Spark plug hole or from engine oil refill hole ? I cant tell if its BS or not but pouring petrol inside gearbox makes no sense at all , that too almost a quart.
Oil forms a layer upon bearings, gear teeth and minor clearances that exist inside gearbox, petrol washes them away . If he refilled engine oil and let it stay for an hour or two if might compensate for "PETROL WASHING" he did , but nevertheless it makes no sense and is actually harmful with no possible benefits by doing it.

Guys how do you press the clutch, fully or partially ? Almost every motovloger that I've seen on YouTube partially presses the clutch to change gears. What do you guys do and what's the best and correct way ?

              Thanks

You have to depress clutch lever fully. Partially means more damage to the clutch plates. I don't use clutch at all, to upshift or downshift, it will increase life of the clutch cables and clutches too. It had to be done in a safe way, closing the throttle while up shifting and a throttle blip before downshifting. Gear changes will be quick and very smooth(have to practice), less drop in efficiency.

Clutch is a power regulator cum switch in layman terms . Pull in clutch it will disengage and no power gets to wheels, release it and it powers the wheels back . Clutch is made up of a frictional layer (asbestos / synthetic fibre nowadays ) . Either use clutch to upshift or downshift , just like on or off . Never slip it or use " HALF CLUTCH" as it burns off frictional layer on clutch . Clutchless shifting is unique technique ,when done properly gives smooth upshifts and downshifts, However i suggest saving 10rs fuel at risk of damaging gearshaft is not worth at all . Use clutch to shift up or down .

Well when ever I use clutch, I fully press it. That's why I never understood the half clutch thing that the YouTube guys did.....
And as far as clutch less is concerned, I only use it for upshifting as I have read many times that clutch less downshifting causes damage to the engine...

One more thing guys, my 2011 Karizma Zmr let's out lot of pollution, its not dark black pollution but it does smell. The color is actually transparent, but when I just turned it on, it will let some black strong smelling air out ..

I just got my bike serviced(about a month ago)oils were changed and I use premium oil instead common petrol...
So why does it let out strong smelling air

                    Thanks

That smell is very common on both cars and bikes and infact many say its a good sign of a healthy engine. However, next time observe for smoke. If there's none, then no worries.
Regarding clutch less shifting, a well timed upshift causes no damage. However, while downshifting, you HAVE to use clutch. People may say its safe to downshift when rpms are low. But thats BS. So its better to use clutch when you downshift.

Probably some issue with my ZMR but not sure.

I was not in town for a week, today started the bike all was fine. Bike was pretty dirty so took the bike to nearest water wash and got the bike washed. Lo problem started. Bike refused to start after the wash. I thought it is because of water and pushed the bike home. After few hours tried to start the bike, no luck. Tried opening petrol cap assuming air lock , check couple of wires for lose contact, still no luck. Waited few more hours, and this time bike started. But was only idling, as soon I opened throttle bike is dead. Same repeated for few times, then some misfiring noise.

I am suspecting water entry to spark plug / ignition coil. Any tips ?

Bang on! Inspect the area around the plug and wipe the water carefully. If needed, open the plug and dry it off.
Avoid pressure washing the tank lid, oil cooler and spark plug side of the engine for the same reason.

I suspect the issue to be due to water logged starter relay. If the Speedo-console is also not getting switched on, I believe the following solution may work out. I did encounter the same problem last week after i gave my ZMR for water wash. But, my brother was fortunately there with me and he suggested to air blow the starter relay. Hence, I removed the battery door (RH side door) and pulled out the grey colored relay which was plugged in its slot. Then blew all around the relay using compressed air. The bike became normal and started perfectly.

Buddy same thing happened to me when I got it washed from a local guy, but after around 20-25 minutes of continuous trying to start the bike, I succeeded...
