Had given the bike for a pressure wash yesterday. After the wash, (in neutral) I pressed the self start. There was no response. No sound. Nothing. Am pretty sure its after the wash and because of the wash. The bike started on the next try. On the way home I noticed a drastic change in handling. The bike used to deflect right or left without much effort. But now I hav to put force to make it bend. And I fet the feeling of falling too when I do.

These two problems have been bugging me. Today too the bike refused to start in the first attempt. But started on the second one. I switched off ignition and turned it on and again it refused to start on the first trial but started on the second one. Had faced a similar issue but that was due to the relay being faulty. But this one?? There's no sound on pressing the self start. Just silence. No dimming of lights also. (cause in normal start we observe the slight dimming effect as battery gets discharged).

Please help me in these two issues of starting and handling guys..

Perhaps i feel you need to check the rear and front wheels from the slow moveability point of view

the washing thing is common, though keep it in sun used to work before for some of us.its perhaps due to moisture

Do you start your bike in neutral?? can you try holding the clutch and starting the bike even when it is in neutral..??

Today while I was looking out for the Shell Rimula R4/R3X.. I noticed my bike engine was a bit harsh.. not sure why and it was sudden.. any idea what could have happened??

By the way.. i couldn't find Rimula anywhere near my house.. yes.. I found the R2.. but not the R3X or R4

I read your review in which u mention a mileage of 45~56; u achieved this mileage after over gearing right? How much did you achieve before doing so ?

Nope.. my ZMR returned 56 kmpl on the highways before over gearing.. after over gearing it returned only 52-54 kmpl on the highways.. not sure why.. Oil could have been the reason..

maybe because I was on frequent gear shifts on the mountains.. but nothing less than 50 kmpl on the highways..

I usually don't check the mileage in city as I just fill up the tank and use it till the fuel indicator blinks and fill it again...

once I checked and i got a mileage of 46 in city.. before over gearing and 44 in city after over gearing..

I know.. it sounds funny.. but the mileage figures are because after over gearing.. i was riding it rash

Over gearing refers to changing your bikes Sprocket set up to reach higher top speed at the cost of losing some acceleration ..
[example : top speed would be 130 or 140 while 0 to 60 would become 4.5 secs or something]
Under gearing refers to changing your bikes sprocket set up to increase the Acceleration of the bike while losing the top end ..
[example : top speed would become 110 or 100 while 0 to 60 will be around 3 secs]

you could also over gear or under gear your bike without changing the sprockets by the change of your tire dimensions ex: over gear : 100/90 and Under gear : 100/80

when you over gear The rpm ranges will be widened for example you could reach 120 at 8500 rpm in 4th gear of your ZMR in a set up of 13/36 [13 teeth front sprocket and 36 teeth rear sprocket] while the stock zmr set up [13/40] will only reach 108 @ 8500 rpm on 4th Gear. similarly if you under gear the bike the rev ranges will go hype for much lesser top speed

over gearing often leads to higher fuel economy while under gearing reduces your bikes mileage ..
you could test what performance you could get from increasing or decreasing the sprocket(s) teeth from this site Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator
changing a teeth in front sprocket is equal to changing 3 or 4 teeth in the rear sprocket~

I had my Apache RTR FI over geared with a 14T front sprocket the acceleration in mid ranges was some what lost but the top end was 137
Over gearing also reduced the amount of vibration on my bike

in Layman's term.. Over Gearing means increasing the time to shift the gear and under gearing means to decrease the time to shift the gear..

Stock Sprockets of ZMA/ZMR is 13T in front and 40T in rear..

                              to over gear the bike..

either increase the number of teeth in front sprocket.. eg. 14T or decrease the number of teeth in rear sprocket.. Eg. 39T, 38T, 37T, 36T etc..

to under gear the bike.. its vice versa of over gearing..

Decrease the number of teeth in front sprocket.. eg. 12T or increase the number of teeth in front sprocket.. Eg. 42T, 44T etc..

overgearing will help you gain top speed but you will have to sacrifice on acceleration..

Undergearing will help you gain acceleration but you will have to sacrifice on top speed..

I had my ZMR overgeared using the P220 dtsi's rear sprocket which is 36T..

Increased the top speed by 5~6 kmph.. I didn't find much difference in acceleration...

changed it back to stock sprockets..

with the stock sprockets.. my ZMR used to do 78~80kmph at 5000 RPM.. and after overgearing, i achieved 84~86kmph at 5000 RPM..
