Noted, will stick to HH oil during the warranty period. But now Hero is offering 5 year warranty and that's a long time :POriginally posted by worrisomebear View Post

Even 120 section doesn't need any modifications...you just have align it correctly...Originally posted by Abhishek Nama View PostGood point "the adv with zma is that its lighter than zmr" it helps while wading though thick Hyderabad traffic.
About tyre: AFAIK PSD goes on without any modifications to the chain guard. However the M45 needs cutting- I am not sure here.
Will decide based upon availability since you said both are good.
Also wanted to ask about Oil, do you recommend to go along with HH oil or Motul, Castrol? please suggest accordingly.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Yes, I can understand why you are suggesting the ZMA, will decide after TD. To be honest, my mom and sis are leaning towards the ZMR due to its looks

stick for first few services, never mention at HH service center which oil u using.. the important thing with HH oil is drain interval..it can nver run for 2500 kms as claimed... max 1000 kms..Originally posted by Abhishek Nama View PostNoted, will stick to HH oil during the warranty period. Yep, can you suggest the best oil which can be used after the first few services, will be careful not to mention this to the SVC.Originally posted by worrisomebear View Poststick for first few services, never mention at HH service center which oil u using.. the important thing with HH oil is drain interval..it can nver run for 2500 kms as claimed... max 1000 kms..

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
In traffic, the bike is easy to handle provided you get used to it. Majority of my commute was highway but even in city the bike can be handled easily.. You'll however feel it a bit bulky for the first few weeks of ownership..Originally posted by Abhishek Nama View PostHi Everyone,
Been surfing xBhp for quite a while now, but never actually joined the forum, finally created an ID :P
I am happy to say that this is an awesome forum, literally an encyclopedia for Motorcycles.
Coming to the point.
I have been using my mom's Honda Activa for a long time now, and now my sister needs the vehicle as well.
I had a long time dream to ride a bike, and now its finally going to happen. And before someone asks me, Yes- I know how to ride a motorcycle, however the 1-down; 4-up shoft pattern will take some time getting used to.
I'll stop with the family background now :P
I am 90% inclined to go for the ZMR, to be honest I fell in love as soon as I saw the advert, and it looks even great in flesh.
Usage:
1. Commuting across the city- Thick Hyderabad traffic: Office-college-home.
2. As of now, I don't tour much, not much highway use. But planning to, after my purchase
Some info about me:
1. Age: 20.
2. Height: 5'10"
3. Weight: 70 kg.
My requirements are:
1. Good engine.
2. Good amount of low end torque.
3. I would prefer a bike that has no vibrations, but that's impossible :P
4. Reliability.
5. Comfort, good riding posture/position. Good pillion position and comfort.
6. Style.
7. Fuel Economy: 40-45 kmpl.
The ZMR seems to fulfill all the above. And co-incidentally ZMR tag line is : "Above All"
According to my research here, the other options within the same range are:
1. Bajaj Pulsar 200NS: I rejected it because the riding posture was not to my liking and pillion is hard.
2. Bajaj Puilsar P220: Did not like it for same reason as above, and did not like the design.
3. Yamaha R15 V2.0: Aggressive riding posture, since my father will also be using it- I don't think it will suite him. And of course pillion is completely not possible (My mother and sister).
4. Yamaha Fazer: No way! I see too many of those on the road, like flies and I don't like the design.
It has been repetitively mentioned by many members that Yamaha R15 is the absolute bike to go for. But, it's definitely not for me, in the long run I think the ZMR will be better.
If there are any other bikes that I should be considering, please do advise me accordingly.
I did not see many users from Hyderabad who have the ZMR. Anyway, I did call Phoenix Motors- Madhapur, they said they don't have the black model in stock and they can source it in 15 days, the wait is okay. Just love the all black look.
I have not TD any of the above mentioned bikes. Will go after some research here.
What do you guys think? ZMR would be the best bike for me, won't it?
Coming to oil ud better use hh oil to be on the safer side cause of warrenty. After that period you can use fully synthetic oils. But use hh oil for atleast 2K kms

About oil, your suggestion seems to be logical keeping warranty in mind.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
I don't think you should be going for any tyre that has a different size than the stock one.. that would void your warranty.. & if you still do so, change the tyre bac to stock whenever you take it to SVC..Originally posted by Abhishek Nama View PostNoted, will stick to HH oil during the warranty period. Stick to HH oil for the first 1K kms atleast.. for the run-in period.. it is safer for your engine, though there is no full proof logic behind that.. bikes are now a days getting factory shipped with SS/FS oils..
Do not take the warranty part so lightly; You never know whats in store for you.. I had to open my 3 months old engine due to some issues..
& last but not the least, no bike is perfect & no bike is for all.. so enjoy whichever you buy & enjoy till you have it..Last edited by Bibhudatta; 05-31-2013, 10:29 PM.
My Bikes:
Yamaha RD (The one which taught me what riding is; Can never forget this one)
Bajaj Caliber (The one closest to my heart; I still have it after 15 yrs !)
Yamaha R15 V2.0 (The best I had; Ah it let me become the college hunk I once used to be :) )
Hero Honda Karizma ZMR (The bike for the family man in me; The practical one; The current one)

I agree with you about the importance of warranty. Noted your tip regarding oil, thanks.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
You can go about it two ways bro. Get the bike, stay stock on oil and tyre for first 1.5-2K kms and the screw warrenty, find yourself a good private mech and upgrade your tyre, oil or whatever. Thats what I did cause the svc guys are not trustworthy at the place where I go. Instead I found a good private mech.Originally posted by Abhishek Nama View PostI agree with you about the importance of warranty. Will use the stock tyre.

Second option is to stay stock til your warrenty lasts. As people say if your luck is bad, warrenty wil help you a lot. So make the choise you wish.
About changing tyre, many people change it as soon as they get the bike. But I would advise against it. Get used to the bike in stock tyre and change it later on.. Do let us know when the bike gets delivered IF you are going for zmr..

For now, I choose to go with HH plan without voiding the warranty, atleast until I can find a good enough mechanic.
The spares are also expensive and the warranty might help in unwarranted situations.
People from Hyderabad, please suggest a good mechanic if you have already found on.
So according to all the advice I have received until now,
1. I will be using stock tyres.
2. Will be using stock oil. (Atleast for the first 2k km).
And yes, I will let you know when I book it and when I receive it as well

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
I used the stock tires for 24000 kms and i found them pretty good.. dont judge the tire by the sizeOriginally posted by Abhishek Nama View PostI agree with you about the importance of warranty. Will use the stock tyre.

i am missing the stock tires.. i thought michelin offers better tire and changed to michelin sirac street and now whenever i see water on the road.. i get frightened.. thats hoe slippery they are in wet road conditions.. trust me.. zmr comes with good tires.. did a long tour with those and till i replaced it. Had only 1 puncture..
Regarding oil.. stay stock atleast til the free services.. you will never know what will happen and when you will need that warranty hero is offering..
Zmr has its own adv over the karizma itself.. better FE, FI which never gives you starting problem during cold starts.. zmr will stsrt at first crank any day... karizma wont.. zmr is huge and heavier.. and yet it has a better acceleration compared to karizma.. ride comfort are same on both.. looks are much appealing on the karizma if yoi ask me.. but thats my opinion and it differs frkm each person.. some part looks out of proportion in zmr.. but hey... its still sexy.. the speedo console is the best til date in india with the least error in the speed displayed.. the clip on hanlebar.. the side mirrors are wide enough.. you will miss those side mirrors which move along with the handlebar when you are trying to drool looking at a girl in that auto behind you
the grab rails are sexy.. few points where zmr misses out is the battery.. zmr requirez the bAttery to start the bike.. without battery.. you can never start it..
Kick start.. i really miss this so called kicker.. you will have to push start the bike in casr your battery has drained and pushing the zmr and applying the weight to get it started is something difficult to do since you are nearly 60kgs only..
But hey.. we have to give up on something to gain something.. right?? We cant expect everything from one person.. same with bikes and yeah. Good choice with the zmr.. ride safe and with the proper gears..
Keep us updated..

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
@rreneav
Tyre: Good to know that the stock tyres are fine. No plan to change the tyre now, maybe in the future.
Oil: I agree with you regarding warranty, no plan change the oil for now.
Kickstart: it will be sorely missed on the zmr, cold starting will be hard for me as I have never done that, can you give me an idea/ more details.
Fi: I have never driven a bike with FI, I am sure it's excellent.
No bike is perfect and we can compromise on little things for an overall good experience.
Btw, thanks for sharing your experience, your post answered many of my questions.
Still have many questions, will post them in a while.Last edited by Abhishek Nama; 06-01-2013, 12:13 PM.
