Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
I dont think so, but I would cross check again.. May be your's lasted longer due to the way you ride.. frankly the number of KMs in this case are of maximum significance if they are done in jam packed cities.. But If your 13K Km include many rides on highways for travelling then the number would suggest an incorrect life.. to be precise the life would depend on how you ride & brake and how frequently you have to brake. I usually revv quite high even with my ZMR.. Now that I ride in bangalore I brake (from high speeds) far too many times due to traffic as well due to the extraordinary number of speed breakers (one per every 100 meters).. so there is way more wear n tear.. Though I still expected the pads not to get worn out so fast ! My front pads in R15 ran for more than 8K km with the same style of riding & in the same city..Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostJust check whether there is Any bent on the disk.. my disk pads laster more than 15000kms.. the rear lasted for 13500

No no, one correction, I used to ride my R15 to E-City which had a 10K long flyover.. so there was hardly any braking during that stretch.. Now I ride the ZMR to Whitefield where the bike has probably faced the worst ever roads on this planet.. So its kinda fair that the pads this time have lasted for a shorter time..
My Bikes:
Yamaha RD (The one which taught me what riding is; Can never forget this one)
Bajaj Caliber (The one closest to my heart; I still have it after 15 yrs !)

I started touring only afyer completing 13500 kms on my bike.. well.. nearly and most of it was in city.. that too in delhi..Originally posted by Bibhudatta View PostI dont think so, but I would cross check again.. Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
I am curious, I have heard several times that the break pads for zmr are super expensive! So the big question, how much do they cost?Originally posted by Bibhudatta View PostI dont think so, but I would cross check again.. Not really. It happened thrice today. And all three times it was while I was turning, p.s. no rear brakes were applied when this happened. And pressure is also normal, had it checked jist yesterday but anyhow checked it again, no problems there.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View Postdoes it happen at a particular speed ? Have you checked the air pressure?? Tight chains can cause misalignment..

Ah no no.. am a good enough rider (some self praise u see, LOL) with atleast 200K Kms of exp on my back.. So thats not the case.. Infact as a habit I dont even do continuous braking to come to a halt.. Instead I apply brake multiple times, may be 3 times; for 2-3 seconds first 2 times & a lil longer in the last step when bike has slowed down.. But yeah, I just ride very hard & therefore brake equally hard too..Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostI started touring only afyer completing 13500 kms on my bike.. well.. nearly and most of it was in city.. that too in delhi..

It was really kind of your friend to lend you his Hayabusa.
All on usage pattern. I've done 33.2k kms so far. 3rd set of front pads. Changed to 3rd set at 30.5k. That means 15k+ life! And guess what, rear pads are still stock!Originally posted by Bibhudatta View PostAh no no.. am a good enough rider (some self praise u see, LOL) with atleast 200K Kms of exp on my back.. Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
The Style of riding decides on the Brake pad's Life...For me the braking is heavy in the city and hardly any on the Highway, so city ride eats up the brake pads..I get around 7K Kms only...
Since my ZMA was pre-owned and came with OE pads already worn a bit, I can not judge properly..I used the RTR pads for a change and found that the pads start putting scratch marks on the Disc...so changed to Shriram Alpine pads, and found it to be grippy....When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

by the way.. the rear brake pedal is on the right hand side

please check the conditions of the brake pads on the rear disc.. take a pic and let me see it
maybe you are using a life time brake pad

btw, am back to Rimula R4 again.. would be moving my bike this month to the scorching heat of Bhubaneswar (my home town) ; Rimula would definitely help in such conditions.. Tested Shell Ax7 for 1400 KM & i must say the oil is damn good for a city like bangalore..ZMR runs really smooth with this oil.. & the color of the oil was still fine when I changed today..

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Sorry to have not met or spoken to you.....the AX7 is a good oil ...it stands up well for touring involving continuous high speed runs...but contains less ZDDP compared to Rimula R4..which is the reason for my using the R4 in my older ZMAOriginally posted by Bibhudatta View Postha ha ha.. good humour

yeah I would be leaving the bike with the same oil for quite some time now.. My father isnt going to maintain it the way i do.. R4 can help in this case, apart from handling additional heat.

Ok wise decision...the ZDDP in R4 along with Calcium Alkaryl Sulphonate, will be added safety for the engineOriginally posted by Bibhudatta View Postah no no.. you didnt even know that am there

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Found a shell dealer in yellahanka, Bangalore. Now its easier to source the r4. But I have a doubt. Can 1 litre of r4 be mixed with r3 to make it 1.1 liters?? Cause I have little bit of r3x left
