Well said PSR sir, I hope this thread remains as ZMR ownership thread.

--Bullet's thump is a mesmerising music to the ears, atleast for me. A music to one can be noise to other. Vibration, niggles and oil leaks are part of the package and they are loved for that. RE has survived for more than 50 years, lets hope that the so called butter smooth japanese bike to survive atleast for half the period of it.

PS: Lets continue discussion about the humble yet legendary ZMR.

My dad's first CD100 which was purchased by my uncle is still surviving.. it was purchased in 1990s when I was 4 years old I even got a chance to ride it too back in 2002.. it is a gem of a kind I am never gonna give away my ZMR.. I will keep it as long as I live..

Yes I agree CD100 is a gem of a machine and I myself learnt riding on that back then. By surviving I meant to be in production and to achieve cult status. I am sure ZMR will be in production for a century or so and will out last You.

Maybe you are right?? It is surviving while the other bikes are getting upgrades in terms of technology

man they still use the same kinda engine..

the other day in showroom/ASC of RE where my friend had left his bike for service..

my friend manojmsoni asked them why haven't they made any upgrades to the bikes.. and the guy was like.. "sir we have made major updates" my friend was like ??? then he said we have the FI system in our bikes..

My friend was like all puzzled "thats what they call as technology".. see where they stand mate..

the very first time i got a chance to see the Classic 500 in front of me.. I was actually amazed to see it with a FI.. I was studying the bike and I wanted to know where the fuel pump is located.. I called up the Sales person and asked him where is the fuel pump for which he showed me something very small just below the tank and said that is the fuel pump..

i was like seriously?? what kinda sensors it has.. he was all puzzled.. then I took him to my Black pearl and showed him the fuel pump of it and told him about the PgmFI and he was like thats not a RE.. and I was like this along with my friend.. thats how much they have improved in terms of technology?? Man.. they have been in the industry for 50 years and what have they done to improve the products..

now the excuses saying people love the oil leakage and thats what they want from it is all not possible man.. my friend is a hard core RE fan and he himself says thats what he hates about this bike..

I read somewhere that only RE & Harley uses age old push rod engines even now. Its also called Over Head Engines and they produce very less rpm.

May be that is why they are not quicker like our bikes. But with higer torque, they will pull load better.

absolutely in line.. most of the discussions in this thread should be w.r.t. ZMR.. but I think an off topic here n there is ok.. as you said after all we are passionate bikers only.. so discussions like this would come up every now n then & they are welcome.. coz such discussions atleast would help flush some wrong ideas/thoughts & would also help the thread going on when there is no ZMR specific topic..

There are N no. of colors bro. Apart from custom colors, OE colors have shades of White, Black, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Brown, Golden and Grey.
BTW, we are way off topic. Somebody talk about the desi Busa!

Ok, I'll start. My grease treatment on the chain lasted 1013 kms to be exact. Started making some noise, so greased it back again!

You're right. Both have in fact similar wheelbase. However, Busa is almost twice as wide w.r.t a ZMR.

You are correct that other bikes are getting updated technology and RE is a dinosaur. But the thing is RE is being loved for having old technology. You might be aware that RE has stopped production of the STD bullet recently( It had CI engine, right side gear shifter and left side brake pedal and still had CB points) and RE fans really miss that. Upgrading the technology is really going to dilute the so called RE factor. Someone mentioned about push rod engines, push rod engines are ideal for slow speed high torque engines. rreneav1987 Did You ask a service personnel in the RE ASC or someone one from higher authority?

Coming to ZMR. Even ZMR has a lot of areas of improvement. Hero could have done a lot to improve it. like a monoshock, exposed chain, liquid cooling and lot more. Theres nothing wrong about dualshocks but I thing dualshock suits best on cruisers for classics looks and not on a fully faired bike or a naked. Though I agree that fully covered chains are best for Indian conditions and it needs less maintenance but I think that exposed chain would improve the looks of ZMR, even REs has a O-ring chain. Hero has never had exposed chain on any other their bikes except impulse. ZMR still runs on oil cooling rather than liquid cooling. It is a fully faired bike so having a liquid cooling system would make more sense. Last but not the least hero could had made ZMR a little lighter. My friend owns a ZMR and the above mentioned things were his expectations on a ZMR.

Its actually pretty lame posting about drawbacks of a bike in its own ownership thread. We know that bro. Discussions were going on as to why the re is still being loved inspite of many drawbacks Like leakage, old tech, maintenance, etc. We already know the drawbacks of zmr. Now if a question pops as to why the both bikes were compared, the answer is we're adjusted to our steeds and when we ride a bullet, we notice huge differences. As a result of which we obviously compare. But I don't understand the reason as to your comparison. Was it to point out that zmr was also not perfect? We do know there is no bike which is perfect!!

Contrary to what other members say, I love the thump of a bullet. I like its styling too. It looks retro, but I won't buy it. The day when it offers 50% more reliability on road, it'd get into my wishlist!

Now coming to ZMR, it also has dinosaur age tech only bro, its NOT oil cooled, ZMR is air cooled!

I am not pointing out the drawbacks about ZMR, I am desperately looking for an improved version so I can lay my hands on one. That is what ownership thread is meant for, talking about the plus and living with the minus or finding a solution for the issues, anything relating to ZMR would add value to this thread and would make the owners proud. Actually I think talking about REs here is really lame bro. Just like we love our steeds (ZMR), RE fans love theirs. Why are we breaking our heads for that?

@ Divya sharan I know that ZMR is air cooled but what is the narrow thingy in front which circulates oil? I thought it was meant to cool the oil. (just like P220s have)
