Removing number plate mount = extra space which can be utilized by lowering the fairing. Now got it?

As I said I'll give the update. The sudden stopping issue of my ZMR finally seems to be gone with the replacement of the FUEL PUMP. The coil inside the pump was a dud since times immemorial! The manager here in Mumbai is an engineer and he was kind enough to explain how it went wrong and why wasn't the issue getting detected.

But...but.....but...if I read in between the words, detecting a problem that leads to replacement of a part is a performance issue for the ASC, if that happens to be attached to the showroom where you purchased your bike!! The fuel pumps costs Rs.11,200 approx.

Well, now I can plan some good rides while it still rains in the Deccan!!

Thanks to you all for helping me out with suggestions.

Glad that it got resolved! Moreover, Fuel Pump is the Achilles' heel for this great piece of machinery. Most guys suffer post 25k. It costs 12K in BLR, 11.2 in MUM is a little surprising.
Chalo, since it was covered in warranty, it didn't burn your wallet. All is well that ends well!

Would like to know issue of stopping engine in detail from your side..actually engine stopping is happening again in my ZMR...i need to accelerate to get it started with push of start button.....i went to another SVC they said injector need a clean and bike will become normal.....and mine SVC has no idea to solve it....

I have specifically ask the SVC if there is any issue with fuel pump they said no... if it become Yes then it will a bomb in my pocket because my ZMR is not in warranty....

Yup, but these sting operations weren't covered by any big news channels. Why? Vested interests! I'd long back shared T-bhp links on the same.
There's a reason when everybody starts getting more mileage when filling from Shell bunks. Now you know why!

Well, to start with - cold start was always good. The problem started only after the engine started getting warm/hot....about 1 km from the start point. Subsequently, it would stop every 100 meters or so. Imagine how I managed to cover 35 kms this way (the day being a holiday for all)!!! I swear on my sore rear.

Here, if the fuel pump is good, then Mr. Dilip Bam (auto reviewer) recommends loading a tank-full of fuel. No idea how it would help, but he says it does!

At one point of time, I was so frustrated that I thought of pulling out the entire FI system and plonking in a carburetor instead. I hope, the situation doesn't arise again for me or anyone else.

Also, we can wish if some company comes up with after-market spares for the fuel pump and FI system. Together, it's so damn costly.

He's a lousy nutcase! I used to read his reviews till sometime back, but now most reviews are downright cheap! His jokes are lame and his methods for acceleration and speed tests using a stopwatch are simply ridiculous!
I don't know if there are ardent fans of his on this forum, I'm sorry if my words hurt you, but this is my personal opinion.

no offence taken mate, but sometimes we just need to try and err. Sometimes, they are outright ridiculous, but then they tend to do the job. Years ago, my Bullet CI used to smoke up clutch plates in 2 months flat. No matter what I did, the same happened every time. Mechanically, everything was good inside, but something was just not right. Just to experiment, I put ATF (Auto Transmission Fluid) into the clutch-case, and voila, the clutch plates started staying good even after 1.5 years!

Just to say, when nothing works out, we just have to try about anything and everything....what I call the Great Indian Jugaad !!

Again the same issue. Burning smell and kat kat sound. Katkat sound is Normal when the engine gets stressed I know. But this sound is a bit different and happens even at 4-5k rpm, 5th gear and I observed that eveb if not WOT, the sound is there. And it happens ONLY when the engine is hot. Wanna sort this out. Please tell me what all things that the mech has to inspect. Am strongly suspecting radiator or some problem inside the engine. Cause the smell is similar to burnt oil. Btw, oil is not old.

I'd suggest you take 2nd opinion on the same.
For a change, go to a Hero ASC and ask for their diagnosis. Then, do the same at the private mech. See if they say the same.
Moreover, open apart the fairing from both ends and take pics. Share the pics of the spark plug and the engine from all angles (exterior). Are you sure your bike isn't emitting smoke.
After a long ride, park your bike and rev till 6k in neutral. Check the exhaust.

Matter of fact.. this is a good idea..

After removing the fairing, take the bike for a spin and see if there is any smoke coming from anywhere near the radiator or the head or the engine... or any oil leakage near the radiator..
