Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Yup, I could take a video when the bike stopped and refused to start late Sunday night. However, that was only after the bike stopped and not when the bike was about to stop. It happens so abrupt, I cannot have a premonition about it. Nevertheless, now I have this video where the bike refuses to start.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostHope you have a camera in you mobile.. when this happens you should take a video so that you can show them the problem when it happens..

See, the bigger issue is that nothing gets detected, and I understand it might be a very silly/simple troubleshooting. ASC again asked me to keep the bike for 3 days with them so that get to know when it happens, but the point is WHY does it happen rather than waiting for WHEN it will happen. Better I get the drain pipe tested first!Current: Hero Karizma ZMR || Royal Enfield Bullet CI

1. Do you keep the ignition to ON position without starting the bike for a long time? (say, more than 5 min)
2. Apart from the drain pipe, is the starter relay fine? Check the fuse in there!
If the answer to #1 is Yes, then its not a problem. Its a fail safe mechanism. To test it, once your bike refuses to start, roll it for 10 meters and try switching on/off the ignition via the key. Attempt a crank. Should work.
If the answer to #1 is no, follow #2.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

#2 How do I check the starter relay?
Am not conversant when it comes to the electricals or sensors in an FI bike. Had it been a Bullet....never actually went to any mechanic. Even did the overhauling at home.
However, I'm trying not to give up. Thanks mate.Current: Hero Karizma ZMR || Royal Enfield Bullet CI

on the right side you will find a relay holder which is connected to the battery.. you will find the relay there.. as seen in the below pic.. just remove that look out for dust and clean it..
also remove the Fuse in it and check.. usually this thing can cause a huge mess and in my case it screwed 2 new batteries without charging them properly.. changed it to Minda and now the battery is getting charged just fine..
A faulty starter relay causes starting trouble as well.. can be in your case too..
The fuse should be 20A fuse and check for loose fuse or use a 15A spare fuse from the fuse box under the seat and check...

Finally some respite. This evening, while taking my ZMR to the ASC, it again stopped abruptly. Recorded how it happened. I called up the ASC manager and he was prompt enough to send two of his mechanics within 20 minutes. The bike repeated the feat about 10-11 times on the way to the ASC. I recorded the push by the ASC mechanic too. Well, I did help him though. Finally reached the ASC by 8:30 p.m. at the end of the uphill push! Staff were better here.
The manager here was assuring, and did seem to know what he talked about. I just hope something works out this time. I'll keep posted.
Do check that article on FI that I mentioned with the link. Good read indeed. Thanks again!Current: Hero Karizma ZMR || Royal Enfield Bullet CI
