See dude..

        Mathematically 1 + 1 = 2

        Physically 1 + 1 = 3

        So taking physical into consideration, Mechanically 223cc + 223cc = 669 cc

Gonna launch it soon got it bachche

          OT...

Just did a test ride of KTM Duke 390..

The bike is fully capable and no doubt its got an awesome acceleration and pick up...

So I went to Ready To Race KTM showroom in Sector 18 Noida.. filled up the form for Test Ride.. was excited as every other biker would have been..

Went out to the bike.. inserted the key and turned on the ignition.. Just Couldn't wait to give the throttle..

Pressed the self start button and the engine came to life.. Not much difference in the engine and exhaust note between the Duke 200 and the Duke 390.. but it did sound like it had more bass to the note.. so i gave the throttle to see how the response is... I didn't like the beat.. Mind you I didn't give too much acceleration..

Then I pushed the bike back to turn it and when I wanted to move front.. tried to leave the clutch without acceleration and the bike jerked a bit about to shut down.. making me cautious not to forget it has 44 horses which is 27 Horses more than my Black Pearl..

So I got the bike on the road.. and the Sales Person (85Kgs+) sat as the pillion..

Gave the acceleration and left the clutch.. the bike shut down as I didn't leave the clutch properly..

Tried to start the bike and it didn't start.. I was like What The Fudge.. the sales guy asked me to hold the self start button for few seconds and the bike will start.. and guess what I couldn't make it start.. then he tried and the bike didn't start..

then I said please take off your hands, I will start the bike and the bike started

this time I was more cautious while leaving the clutch

The bike moved... wanted to test the beast.. after taking a U turn I got the courage to try whatever I can to test the acceleration (the guy sitting behind me was holding me as if he is a girl and I was wondering why) found the reason after I gave Wide Open Throttle (WOT) the bike pulled like anything (note i was in a busy market side so I couldn't test the full potential of the bike) then the guy took me to an open area and vrooom.. in just less than 200m the bike hit 95kmph and that too in less than 10 seconds.. My God.. I was just amazed..

Now to test the ABS.. I hit the front brakes at the speed of 95kmph with less than 50m for the road to end and bike stopped with an ease without the tire skidding..

To test the handling.. i leaned as much as I can with the pillion (85kgs+) sitting behind me and the tires did their job of sticking to the road..

The bike gave me enough confidence to make the decision of overtaking a car which was overtaking another car in the parking lot.. Just to check the acceleration..

Well.. All Good said.. Now coming to the cons that I noticed.. Maybe this test bike wasn't perfect..

The Engine sounded rough and harsh with heavy vibrations (as compared to my Black Pearl) and all that smoothed out after 6000 RPM.. which means.. in city.. you will have to ride the bike with that heavy vibrations as it is not possible to ride at higher RPMs in the city limits..

The quality of the plastic handle cover is horrible and cheap looking.. if at all i get this bike (now a big question mark) i would remove it..

The tank is just near 10.5 liters and it isn't sufficient for touring as we can't expect a fuel station every 250-300 kms which is a big drawback.. if you are a tourer.. be ready to carry some extra fuel cans filled with you

To my Taste I really didn't like the sitting position.. its like I was sitting on a stool

The suspensions are too hard.. the inverted suspensions are suppose to be better but here the suspension was too hard.. maybe it was because the bike is new and not much used?? the rear too was a bit on the hard side but that is expected from the Duke..

the engine beat wasn't that great till 6000 RPM.. the bassy note will either make you go deaf or might make you wanna listen to songs rather than hearing that horrible note.. maybe because i have been riding a bike that doesn't make much engine noise for the past 10+ years but after 6000 RPM, the bike sounds sweet.. alas we can't keep her at 6000 RPM + all the time unless you are on the highways..

The other thing i noticed was.. the bike showed its full power only after 6000 RPM.. In the sense.. if you ride the bike within 6000 RPM and you feel the pick up is awesome.. well get ready for a kick ass pick up after the 6000 RPM.. Mind you that the pillion is 85kgs+ and I am 75kgs.. even with 160kgs+ sitting on her seat she pulls like anything.. just think about a person who weighs 65 to 75 kgs..

the gear is tall geared which might make it difficult for us to ride in city conditions but on highways.. hell yeah.. you will be the king..

These are just my feedback and purely my opinion

So I am seriously not too happy with the bike so me buying it will be a big question mark..

Oh Black Pearl.. I just Love you
are you trying to find a zmr in a duke ? for any zmrian it is a massive (truly massive) upgrade... you have been riding a seriously long stroke bike & duke is one of the shortest stoked bike.. so the experience would be paralelly different.. a bike as short stroked as duke need to be ridden at much higher rpm; a zmr type riding on a duke would provide an alien feeling only you need to keep up the rpm level high even in a traffic; coz thats the way this particular bike is to be ridden.. you would need quite some time to get accustomed to a duke & once you do, i am 10000% sure that you won't get back to even your zmr ! such would be the fun.. Well well am not downsizing zmr, coz it has its own sweetness..its just a way too different bike; thats all... but a change would only bring in some more changes !

                    My Bikes:
Yamaha RD (The one which taught me what riding is; Can never forget this one)
Bajaj Caliber (The one closest to my heart; I still have it after 15 yrs !)
Yamaha R15 V2.0 (The best I had; Ah it let me become the college hunk I once used to be :) )
Hero Honda Karizma ZMR (The bike for the family man in me; The practical one; The current one)

Yeah.. maybe but the sitting position was horrible.. and to keep the bike at higher rpm is gonna be a difficult task especially in city traffic which is definitely going to take a massive hit on the FE.. noo.. am not trying to find a zmr in duke as both the bike are made for different purposes.. i like the smooth engine of my bike and i guess thats why i am not satisfied with duke.. that said i will have to wait for a bike from honda or hero and till then am not planning for a new bike unless i get satisfied on the first go as how i was with the karizma and the zmr hopefully hero's/honda's higher cc bike might satisfy my needs and if not am ready to go for the ninja 300 in the future after i save enough money for it..

yes yes, we all have different preferences. but i was not talking abt that.. i was actually talking abt the small kinda review you made. basically a review should be done independently taking into account what the bike is for, how it is made, with what specifications. but i saw some through comparison with ZMR; hence wondered if you were trying to find a ZMR out of the D390.. riding a D390 after riding a ZMR is pretty much like watching "Shoot'Em Up" after "hum aap ke hain kaun".. .. may be you made the comparisons coz you were test riding the bike with a couple of predetermined factors in mind; sounds fair on your part, but tad unfair to the bike

btw, ZMR engine is not really smoother than that of duke's. it is the exhaust note that makes us feel so coz it is way smoother with ZMR without any doubt. it wont be too difficult to understand as most of us already have felt the difference with/wihtout snorkel on ZMR. in the end we are getting back to with snorkel set up only

yep, looking at the factors you need Ninza might just be perfect for you, even though it would be quite heavy on your wallet. but then it's a Ninza after all, the legend of a bike but you may just take a look for Ninza 650 too.. with just above a 1 lac premium over Ninza 300, the higher sibling is a total value for money..

I wasn't trying to put up a review i was just trying to give my opinion on the bike after a test ride.. a Test ride of just 1km isn't sufficient to put up a review mate.. so i just put up the experience I had with the bike..

If I were to put up a review.. i would only do it if I get to ride the beast both in city and on highways.. and if possible on tracks (though I don't have sufficient knowledge to put up a review)

when I say smooth.. I am not talking about the Exhaust note.. I was talking about the vibrations that came on the test bike which was smoother after 6000 RPM.. Well.. I can only compare it with the ZMR because I own a ZMR and I have been riding it for the past 3.5 years

well.. Ninja 650 was always in my mind.. but to fetch that extra 1-1.25L is gonna make it more hectic for me as I will be purchasing it with my so called savings money and Ninja 300 itself will be a big Question mark but yeah.. i love the Ninja 650 and if possible I can even wait till 2016 to get that beast as I am pretty sure ZMR will last for another 10 years without any hassles

I thank you for your suggestion and reminding me that the 650 is just 1 to 1.24L more than the 300

BTW.. Bibhudatta is that your ZMR in your avatar pic?? Why don't you post some pics of your bike? I haven't seen that color

hoping that the thanks note above doesnt carry any sarcasm ( ), 650 would worth the wait.. may be you can save up to the price of 300 & can then get the 650 with rest of the amount on EMI.. a 72ps vs 39 ps & 66 nm@7000 rpm vs 27 nm@10000 rpm for the same Ninza for 1 more lac is a must pick.. atleast for me

Yep, thats my ZMR in vibrant orange color & trust me it is a real head turner.. i find many people every damn day checking out my bike in traffic; many infact fail to notice immediately that it is a ZMR; coz most of the ZMRs on road are white.. would love to take some good photographs asap.. just not getting as much time to go out to a nice place of late.. but would surely do if am leaving india next month. coz i ain't sure when am gonna ride it again
