Conical filters are only sprayed/evenly coated with a thin layer of oil/aerosol oil spray.

Ok, coming to my experiment with Shell Rimula. 90 kms done, gear shifts are smooth, as expected with a new oil. A ride over the weekend will test its real abilities.
But, I seem to have lost some pick up. Its 15w40 grade. Is it actually true or me being stupid? (It was on a 10w40 diet earlier)

Any feedback from your weekend ride on Rimula R3X Divya ? I have just filled my engine with Rimula R4 today.. found engine to behave way more politely on the way back home.. though i would draw some conclusion after a long ride.. the station guys were shocked to see me buying R4 for my bike.. LOL.. let us know your experience.. i would post mine in a couple of days..

    My Bikes:
Yamaha RD (The one which taught me what riding is; Can never forget this one)
Bajaj Caliber (The one closest to my heart; I still have it after 15 yrs !)
Yamaha R15 V2.0 (The best I had; Ah it let me become the college hunk I once used to be :) )
Hero Honda Karizma ZMR (The bike for the family man in me; The practical one; The current one)

Welcome to the fold of brave experimenter.....you will not regret it...in fact you may not use any other oil after the experience with Rimula R4.....
Good Luck and enjoy the ride...

Sir which one do you suggest?? Rimula R3X or Rimula R4?? and where can we get them?? I know its a lame question.. but just wanted to know if they available in market easily.. I am planning to change over from Motul Used to be a happy customer of Motul.. but the recent oil change just killed me.. bike is too sluggish.. or is it because Divya made my mind set this way

Ok, so time for some feedback. Rode 200 kms post lunch today. Ambient Temperature was well over 35 degrees.

Engine oil - Shell Rimula R3X

Max speed recorded - 122 kmph
Ride pattern today - Upshift @7k RPM.
Vibes - Dampened. No special measures were taken to dampen vibes otherwise.
Acceleration - Same as before (or may be just a little lesser than before)
Engine heating - reduced by 20% on a crude basis.
Gear shifts - Smooth so far. (It has been 394 kms post oil change)
Mileage - expected to be the same.

Best remarks - by an office colleague. He's not a biker, but I do give him lifts frequently till the bus stop. That is roughly 2.7 kms from office. He specifically asked if I have got something done on the bike as its running very smooth.

BTW, going on a 200 km mini trip tomorrow as well.
            Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Please see the ZMA thread for Mr.Harish post on R4 ...the bike was bought Jan 2013 and had run appr 1000+ when the oil was changed to Rimula R4...to-day the chennai temp is 42 C,and maintaining 110 + Kmph speed had not produced any higher engine temp,or vibes.....

Both R3X and R4 are good ...The R4 is superior in wear protection...R3x is 250/- and R4 is 300/- per liter.
Regarding availability,Shell bunks have them..or else, since you are from Chennai you can look up Dhanush Auto stores... in the lane Opposite to Saidapet YMCA...the lane is close to the mosque on the Anna salai in C.I.T.Nagar Nandanam...

So an oil which costs 300-400rs lesser than many synthetic oils is performing same if not better than the synthetic oils? Well. Me changing it to R4 tomorrow. Wanna know the difference.. Any picture guys? It would be damn helpful to identify it in the bunk..

An update from my 50 KM ride today morning with Rimula R4:

                                1. Didn't observe any drop in pick up in 1st/2nd gears.. Though i did feel a slight drop in the 4th & 5th, though only slight. It might also be due to the fact that this is the first major oil change for my engine & this was the first ever ride on it. Additionally i hadn't drained the oil from clutch box. So appx 250 ml of old burnt oil has got mixed with this new oil too.

                                2. The vibes from engine have been truly reduced & have got reduced by a noticeable extent. I still used to get a hell lot of vibes between 60-75 kmph even though some of the engine parts have been recently replaced. The same vibes were literally absent at those speeds today with R4 !! Engine was butter smooth at the higher speeds & i must say i was so happy !!

                                3. FE: Would let you folks know towards next weekend.

                                4. Engine heating: The ride was small; so couldn't get a good measure.

                                5. As some engine parts are new i didn't drag beyond 90 kmph. But even 90kmph was achieved effortlessly.

                                Conclusion so far:
My only major concern has been vibration at high speeds & am extremely satisfied with R4 literally throwing them out !!
& One major confirmation on my previous understanding over ZMR ; It is & it has always been the engine which is the main culprit behind those vibes. The "poor" fairing just takes the blame & bears all the burnt
