This is how the 2.3k old oil looked like at night. It was brownish (even without flash) and not black.

Hey everyone, I'm going for the 1st servicing of my ZMR tomorrow. Is there anything particular I should keep in mind, or do (or not do)?
I had already changed my oil at 250km (with hero oil at the svc), so I'm thinking of asking them to skip the oil change this time if it's not gonna void the warranty. Instead I'll replace it myself at home with the Shell AX7 that's already waiting for a while now. This way o might be able to save the unnecessary oil charge.
I also need to get the throttle free play reduced - it has got too much false currently.

its good that you changed oil at 250kms, do not tell the service station about not to change the oil. let them do the oil change and the service as normal.keep the drain interval of mineral oil at around 900 to 1000 kms going ahead.

Gave my ZMR for the servicing. Should get her back by around 4.

BTW, can anyone recommend me a good helmet? My budget is around 3k (+- .5k). My current one is a Studds Ninja (old generation). So I'd really love to have a removable chin guard and air flow vents in my new one. I've found the new generation 3G model a bit too tight fitting for my head. What about LS2, Cross, etc? And oh, my ZMR is white...

Get the LS2 DOT certified.. will cost you some 3.5 at max.. suggest that you dont go foethe designer chin lift models.. they maybe comfortable, however they are not safe..

                  Cheers,

After getting my ZMR serviced (1st) yesterday I changed the oil to Shell AX7. To fill with the recommended 1.1 litter, I emptied one entire 1 liter bottle, and in an attempt to fill that 100ml more, I think I poured a bit more than necessary from the second bottle. Now the dip stick shows the oil level at a little bit more than the max mark. Can/will this really foul the spark plug?
I've now bought a measuring cylinder, so that I don't make the same mistake next time.
BTW, even after the first servicing the engine is heating noticeably. The burning smell is gone though.

BTW, does anyone know if there are any ls2 helmet outlets in Pune?

Drain out 100 ml if you're so tensed. Else, leave it. Nothing to worry.

BTW, my bike returned exactly 50.3 kmpl in the weekend's Chennai trip.
                        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

heating up is common across all bikes....more the gear shiftings faster it heats up...nothing to worry...

any excess engine oil will be pumped to airfilter cabin...no issues...

Engine heating was present in my bike before 1st servicing. After that, it has completely gone. However much u ride the bike, the engine remains cool always. No issues at all. Kindly check it. or maybe u cud wait a few 100 km's more for it to cool. btw, I'm still using the Hero engine oil. Planning to shift to Shell AX7 from 5k km onwards.
