Few months back when I checked up on the PSD tires.. 110/90-18, the dealer told me it will cost me 3300/- later when i wanted to get the PSD (a month later) he said it will cost me 3500/- I was like damn.. hell no and I left that place.. then when I got my tires changed last week.. i just enquired and he claimed a whooping 3800/- I was like WTF?? I went to the store next door and got myself the Zapper Q with Tube for just 2150/- of course after a lot of bargaining and few calls.. @Divya Sharan.. I know you know.. I bugged you that day over phone that call saved me 300/- you told me you got the tire for 2500 including the tube and fitting..

after disconnecting the call.. I told that dealer my friend got the tire and the tube for 2100/- how come you are charging me 2200/- only for the tire.. the guy was already fitting the wheel back on the bike.. I said remove it.. I don't want to buy it from you, I will go to the next store and get it for 2100/- then I said I will pay for the labor.. he immediately said take the tube as well but pay me 2200/- i still fought saying no.. i still get it for 100/- less and he reduced it to 2150/- and i said ok with a big smile I know I am mean.. but just suggesting you guys try it the same way it can save you guys some money..

Yeah, DL is cheaper no doubt. 10 days after fitting the rear tire, I got a call from one dealer whom I'd contacted earlier saying that he got the Zapper Q in stock and it would cost me 2300 with tube. Labor 50 rupees extra.
I was shocked to learn that you said Zapper FS cost a mere 1500 there. Its 2k here.

With ax7 (semi-synth) I change the oil about every 2.5k kms now. Rimula being pure mineral change interval would be around 1.5k kms.

For tyres here is a simple formula:

Better grip, shorter life: Pirelli
Decent grip, longer life: stock MRF/ other TT by MRF.
WOW !!!! that is some serious mile munching .... you are the man to refer to for the behavior of Rimula R3x and R4 as well as AX7....
For my knowledge, I have a query to you..Is there any difference between R3X and R4 ? in engine behavior or otherwise ?
Your observations will be very helpful to me .

I have been using R4 for the last nearly 10000 kms and a drain period of 1500 kms.. the oil is no doubt good but the drain period just kills me.. The bike vibs have reduced tremendously, however something I didn't enjoy was the drain period and nothing else.. I haven't used R3x so can't comment on it my next oil will be the AX7 hope it will be better compared to the Rimula

Have you ever tried to extend the drain period ? I am at 1,700 Kms with R3X and it is still doing good.....I heard from Mr.Sriram that Mobil1 FS is really good ...

Am doing 3500kms with r3x and I can feel the vibes increase. But not significantly. Apart from that there is still no heatin issues and engine sound is the same even after long city rides. Am planning a 1500 kms round trip in jan. So decided to change oil only then. And I don't have college now. Just exams. So ill be doing another 250 kms this month thats it. So oil will be changed after approx 3750kms of usage. Satisfied with rimula

Once I did complete 1700+ kms but the bike was harsh and the smoothness had vanished by then.. the oil when drained was completely dark and if I hadn't changed the oil, it could have even ceased the engine (a fear in my mind)

which bikes was Mobil1 FS used? any idea on the Oil Grade sir?

Engine behavior vise, I would say that compared to the R3X the R4 managed to keep the vibes down for a longer period(about 150-200kms more)

No bro I did not drain it. Its the same oil for 3500 kms. Am not noticing any harshness. Just few vibes. The level was a bit low so I had topped it up at about 1k kms back thats it.

Did you check the color of the oil before topping up? Usually topping up of the mineral oil isn't recommended. Read it somewhere. I don't recollect where, but here on xbhp somewhere.

In my stint with the 22k odd kms with Rimula, I used R3X for 4k odd kms and 18k with R4, I found R4 better in terms of longetivity. Nothing else.

I drained R3X 3 times, once at 1k kms, 2nd at 1.2k kms and 3rd at approx 1.8k kms. Drain at 1k was futile as the oil was almost like new. Light brown.
OTOH, R4 had drain intervals from 1.5k to 2.2k kms. The engine starts getting harsh post 2k kms.

Comparing the same with AX7, it is good till 2.5k kms and post 3k kms, the motor becomes harsh. I suggested Sriram sir last year to move from Motul 7100 FS to Mobil1 when he was going on an AP/Odisha tour with Yuvraj/Jafar and clan.

Mobil1 FS 10w40 is an excellent oil and costs close to 900 rupees (may vary, my data is from last year) and lasts for a good 4k kms. At max 4.5k kms, but I don't prefer taking risks. Its highly recommended for serious tourers who'd be doing 2k+ kms on a single trip as carrying oil can be a pain. But mathematically, AX7 works out to be 30% cheaper and gives a good performance for a petrol engine oil.

Please drain the oil ASAP!

Surprising that you continued using the mineral oil for so long. You overshot the range by 100% already.

Dealers have a large margin - and it varies depending on their mood and the time of the day. I was quoted 260 rupees for a Ceat tube at the distributor, while inquiring at a dealer's shop, he nonchalantly passed me the figure of 400 rupees for the same tube. I've made it a point to directly contact company higher ups, they will help.

Isn't 3.5K a bit too much? As others suggested, check the colour of the oil first. If it's blackish, change it ASAP.

My experience :
The first I read about Rimula R4 was in the forums and of course psr's suggestion. I was using Motul 3000 before that (which surprisingly wasn't half bad for me). I wonder if there are fakes that are giving Motul a bad rep.
Anyway, I filled in R4 and had a smooth 1000+ kms. On returning from the trip, the oil was drained and it had turned very black. I presumed that the additives had done a good job in clearing up the engine.
Next, another litre of R4 was used. This time around, the bike went for about 1000 kms and I drained it, the oil was golden brown. I had made a mistake in draining it so early, but anyway, put in another litre and the bike went for another 700 kms. After that, I was to embark on a long trip. On asking psr, he said that the oil wouldn't go bad for another 1K kms, so I set off without a worry.
After coming back from the trip, I checked the oil, and it is still golden brown even after 1.7K+ kms. I am considering the next change at 2500 kms given the condition of the oil. The engine is very smooth, as are the gearshifts and the oil seems to be holding up very well.

Conclusion : For me the first time filling in the oil seemed to have cleared up the engine of contaminants and after that, the engine has stayed clean. In spite of it being a mineral oil, I think I can safely increase the drain interval until I notice some harshness. However, to be on the safer side, I will keep checking every 200 kms to ensure the oil isn't going bad.

Thanks a lot for your advice Sharan, Before joining this forum I had read many of your posts here, Also this time I am planning to use AX7 Also, You said not to go for Pirelli, So other than that which one is best mate? Just called few shops and asked Pirelli is unavailable here

Also at 7k kms I got knocking sound and I changed tensioner and the chain sprocket was also worn, it caused me sound while riding, So I changed it too, is it normal or anything wrong with my bike?

Please advice

Thanks

It doesn't matter if it is a 1000cc bike or a 3000cc car.. if the engine oil is less, the risks of engine ceasing are very high

I don't wanna talk about the ban it will go OT.. I will PM you regarding this
