.Check oil level and color...darker oil denotes contamination...I remember your saying that on higher Revs you get blue smoke from exhaust...
Sir, I have just completed 60 kms after oil change.. can the oil color change in 60 kms?? yes, the bike smokes at higher RPMs.. but I don't redline the bike at all these days.. at max I go upto 6K rpm..

Blueish smoke at higher RPM is an indication that the sealing between the Piston Rings and Bore is not Good at Higher RPMs. It is an indication that sooner or later you may have reduced performance and need to Change Bore and Piston with rings .....still if the engine is handled gently may last a few Thousand Kilometers

The mech said i could replace just the rings and check it out if still i get the smoke.. I've done about 12-15000 kms from the time that i saw the smoke. Engine is still as smooth as it was in the start. Uniform pick up, good top end, etc. Is it possible to just replace the rings and then observe?

I have done more than 15000 to ever since i noticed the smoke.. but oil level is reducing but not too much... i will save some 10000 and then open the bore to see whether changing the piston rings and oil seals will do.. otherwise i will bug you for assistance

An update (though a little late by 3 days).

2 tankfuls yielded 1083 kms in city. (Haven't hit the highway for a loooooong time now.)
Mileage is ~46 kmpl for 23.5 litres that went in.

Lol, now my bike is returning 46 in city. I may have to check if I really got a 223cc mill in the first place!
            Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

I always doubted it. You probably have a splendor engine under the tank. You are a big time 420..

Lol. Good one. All you need is a trustworthy person to:
                      1. Observe as you ride
                      2. Ride as you observe.

It is good for the Mechanic to make money...just the rings alone never wear, the bore also goes through same process. After ring change it may look like everything is ok ...till you do another 10,000 Kms, when the smoke will be so much ,your bike will become Mosquito killer....
Change both Bore and Piston to-gether as a matched set ..standard size. Re-boring is ,most of the time ,a waste of time and money since we do not have precision work done...

I feel your bore and piston are already out of Service limit, since you say it consumes oil.....when you have the TIME and cash go for a change of Bore and piston set standard size....
