I always try to apply brakes as you recommended Divya, but I guess during the heat of the moment I might have applied wrongly. But good to know the ratio for different conditions. Thanks

Thanks for the info Vijay. I already changed the stock rear tyres to Pirelli SD around 11k kms and now the bike is at 19k Kms, thinking to have another change as it had couple of big punctures. Any suggestions as to which tyres should I opt for this time.

I always try to use both brakes equally in 50-50 proportion and this results in safe breaking.

You can get MRF zapper Q. It has good reviews on ZMA/ZMR. Many fellow rider's are using it.

Unfortunately my dad advised me to use the rear brake mostly and that the front brake was dangerous. This resulted in 2 falls for me (not on ZMR) And I was blaming the tires for that. Now I understand that my braking technique was wrong. Even now during panic situations, I go for the rear first by instinct and it always skids. It is important that both brakes are squeezed together.

Instead of applying both the brakes together, apply the rear brake first so as to load the front tyre. Then apply the front bake.
This will give you more control over bike, and braking distance can be reduced if done correctly.

            Thanks

Golden rule of panic braking, Both hands clenching the levers and both feet down. All at once.

*By both feet down, it doesnt mean that you should downshift only once, the whole point is downshifting to 1st. So that once the braking part is over you can immediately accelerate, especially if you need to evade something or if you've lost traction and needs to regain control.

As far as normal braking is concerned, dont bother about the 70:30 rule, because as far as my observation goes, unless the bike has drum brakes, even if you apply both equally the end result would be that the front would bite more than the rear.

Wrong concept. Applying the front brakes will shift the weight to the front of the bike.

                  Happy new year guys!

Oh, is it? Do you apply both brakes at same time?

                      No, front first.
Rear hardly has any stopping credentials. It only provides stability. Front brakes always stop the bike.

                          1. Pirelli Sport Demon 110/90-18 TL.
                          2. MRF Zapper Q 110/90-18 TT.
                          3. Michelin M45 100/90-18 TT.
                          4. Michelin Sporty (the one you saw) 100/90-18 TT.
                          5. MRF Mogrip 100/90-18 TT.
                          6. MRF Zapper C 120/80-18 TL - stock tire on new Karizma.

P.S - Never use a TT tire without a tube as TL. It's a disaster waiting to happen. Similar to riding minus a helmet.

Didn't you hit the 100k km mark already?
