Hi All.. long time since I last logged in.. blame it to my new job. Hope you guys are enjoying your ZMRs.

When I am at 65-70kmph, and leave my hands of the handlebars, the bikes front(i.e. front handlebars and obviously the front tyre) shake in a left-right-left-right fashion, as if it is vibrating until the speed goes down to below 60kmph. Below 60kmph and above 70kmph the bike steers perfectly straight. Any idea what it could be?

Front wheel looks without defect. The rear wheel though has a very slight negligible bend on one side, which should not be causing this.

Any idea what it is? Is the tyre culprit? The front tyre never got punctured since I purchased the bike.

PS: I have only run 22000kms in 4 years as I was out of India for a couple of years.

Replace cone set. The bearings might be the culprit too. In that case, if possible, try replacing only them. They may be rusted or worn out. I had to replace the cone set in my case. Atleast that's what the mech told me. Lol!

Thanks Abhi, did it solve the problem?

does the replacement require fairing removal?

fast_ferocious I have the same problem. But at all speeds above 50kmph.. My bike's just 11200kms old. It starts wobbling like crazy. I'm not sure if my cone set is worn out already. :/

Tires harden up with age. They might have gone bad. Cone set maybe at fault too and yes the entire fairing needs removal. To check if it's indeed the cone set, see if it makes khat khat noise from the handle over potholes.

How does that work man? Don't you have to remove the fork completely to change cone set?

No fork oil is easy. You just unhook the two suspension pipes off of the tees. But to take the tees themselves out you would have to open up the front end. Right?
Of course with karizmas the fairing is not attached to the tees so maybe it is possible.

The tyre would be culprit. to narrow down the issue, choose a straight road without bumps. ride at 80 and leave the handle bar and if you experience tank slapping( handle bar would shake in one direction or handle bar will move as it's slapping the tank), issue should be narrow down to tyres(80%) and alloys(20%).

cone set problem would be slightly different and the wobble would come suddenly in any speed and disapperar when the ball get aligned back.

I had a similar problem with my karizma where the handle would wobble between 60 to 80 and post 80 and below 60, there is no wobbles. i replaced the tyre from a another zma and and narrow down the issue.

Have you shown it to the mechanic? The front wobbles only from 65 to 60 kmph.

SVC guys also advised me to change the fron tyres, though they still have like atleast 10K left in them.

What khat khat sound are you referring to. 6 months back a mechanic showed me that my handlebars were not smooth in their turn i.e. when on centre stand, they didn't turn freely. He did something with the central handlebar nut, loosening it and hitting repeatedly below the centre nut (aiming with screw driver and hitting with a plier), and tightening it again. The handlebar was then freely turning. But after that, when I front brake a bit hard, occasionally a khat khat sound is heard from the front handlebars. Is it something to bother about?

Bike front slaps the tank when I do so at 67-60 kmph. I am more inclined towards the tyre issue now. Is there any way we can test the tyre without replacing?
