Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
You mean the radiator? If so, according to the SVC, the bike doesn't start. Even if it does, it dies when you try accelerating even a bit.. i have no clue however as to how the both are linked...Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostHow do we know if "Oil Cooler " is really working or not?ZMR- PGMFI re-defined

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
If oil cooler doesn't work, the bike would sieze bro. Oil cooler is a part of engine oil circulation and oil goes to engine head through it. Failure would lead to oil leaks and low oil situation.Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostHow do we know if "Oil Cooler " is really working or not?

Reached nervous 90s!
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Well ! The reason I'm concerned is engine oil dies pretty soon in my bike.Originally posted by John P Daniel View PostIf oil cooler doesn't work, the bike would sieze bro. Mineral oil 600-700kms,
Shell Semi 1100-1200kms,
Shell synthetic 2000kms,
Motul synthetic maxed out at 3000kms !

There might be a combustion leakage I think. Exhaust fumes getting mixed with engine oil makes it less volatile and black soon.Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostWell ! The reason I'm concerned is engine oil dies pretty soon in my bike.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Hey, I too feel the same about ZMR. Although I would love to buy a KTM, but I am 6'3" tall which makes the KTM's feel like toys under me. I don't think KTM will come up with long relaxed motorcycles in future since KTM focuses on performance only.Originally posted by niku View PostRecently bought a Duke 390 and it made me realize what a smooth and COOL bike the ZMR is..
Anyhow, I am quite bored with my zmr, I have it since march 2010. I wish to get a new motorcycle, but ONLY IF it's comfortable. Can you name a few comfortable ~250cc motorcycles?
BY comfy I mean medium shock-ups (not rock hard like rc200), long and wide seat with good cushioning, and that SMOOTH engine feel.
I can only think of cbr250 till date, I found it ok for my purpose. I am looking for latest names, cbr250 is quite old (but gold) now.

I have not read the previous post but yes it can touch 120 easily ! I daily touch 120 for 30min in highway without any problem - stability !Originally posted by leech View PostIf I knew that the karizma could touch 120 kmph back in 2012 I would have bought that instead of cbr250. 😛

The engine oil cooler needs to be replaced because it clogs up with heavy particles trapped in the engine coolant. The problem arises when the air flows through the tight passageways of the engine oil cooler. These pathways are so small that they catch and stop any large particles suspended in the coolant, blocking the channel. While the mileage varies, the air can no longer flow through the cooler on its way to the cooler, leaving less and less coolant flow for your engine oil cooler.Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostHow do we know if "Oil Cooler " is really working or not?

Changing your sprockets at 5000 - 8000 KM ??????? - why , my uncle's karizma 2003 edition lasted around 80,000 KM - proper lubing and cleaning at every weekend . Check your rear wheel alignmentOriginally posted by niku View PostRecently bought a Duke 390 and it made me realize what a smooth and COOL bike the ZMR is..
Been riding ZMRs from 2011 (2nd from 2013) and I have crossed about 94000 kms in my ZMRs till date and it (one of the two) will remain as my touring machine forever
Now my queries,
1. I have been changing my sprocket for every 5000 - 8000kms in the 2nd bike (2013 Hero one). But its great and lasting more than double this in the older bike. Can engine braking be a reason? (because I ride this bike in traffic to work and the other bike mostly in weekends) Or is there something I need to check?
2. Something is wrong with the front of the bike. I thought air was less and yes it was a little low. And even now after filling Nitrogen, I feel like the bike is wobbling a little. What may be the cause for this?
Check you wheel balancer / handle bar is straight or not ? or inspect the cone set .

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
CBR is comfortable. However, it has only 30 kmph extra over your zmr. I share your dislike of the dukes, and I'm 5'6". Now you can purchase a cbr250 and be bored in another 2 years. Or save up for a new/used 650.Originally posted by arya809 View PostHey, I too feel the same about ZMR. Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
There is no coolant in an oil cooler buddy. All thats running through the radiator (cooler) is just engine oil.Originally posted by Dipan12 View Post

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Sorry I did not highlighted the part - blockage by dirt and getting clogged - may be this are the reason that the radiator of his is not working . Is there any radiator guard ?Originally posted by bobisbacktorock View PostThere is no coolant in an oil cooler buddy. All thats running through the radiator (cooler) is just engine oil.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
^^^Karizma doesn't have radiator/coolant combo. It's a simple oil cooler.
With debris thrown from other vehicles and in general on the road, fins bend resulting in inefficient working. A toothbrush with soft bristles should be used to straighten the fins.
The oil cooler hardly needs a replacement.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Arrey bhai ! Fins are pretty much straight n clean. Then why does it eat up engine oil viscosity so soon. Somebody spoke about exhaust gas reducing viscosity of oil, I'm not sure how that impact. Tired of changing oil [emoji19]Originally posted by Divya Sharan View Post^^^Karizma doesn't have radiator/coolant combo. It's a simple oil cooler.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Worn out rings (not leaking, but worn out uneven edges), worn out clutch plates etc cause engine overheating. This would hamper viscosity.Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostArrey bhai !
