Leave the bike under Sun for few hours. Pressure wash n ZMR don't go hand in hand. [emoji1]

Where is the relay located?

Next to the battery. The thing that clicks when you thumb the starter.

Noticed the 20amp fuse on the relay was short so changed it. But the bike still didn't fire. Removed the fairing, Dried the relay and opened up the other socket/joints and have parked the bike in the sun. Fingers crossed.

Funny thing is when I turn the ignition switch, the fuel pump whirrs and is primed. But everything else seems dead- no lights in speedo, no nothing!

Same issue. Read this.

In short, rust + fungus along the wiring.

Hi Divya, went through your trouble-shooting report. As advised, I've stripped down the bike to its wiring. The wiring seems fine as found no rust or fungus on joints.
I've checked the battery and it's giving me a reading of 12.7. So that is one suspect eliminated.
I want your advise on how to check the ECU, ignition coil, starter relay, bank angle sensor, RR unit and ECM to see if they are working fine.
Can I do it on my own or do we need special instruments in which case I'll have to cart the bike to Delhi as there are no trustworthy mechs near my place.

Not just the joints. You'll have to see the whole cable line. That would need splicing of the insulation.

Ya the battery is fine if it gives 12.7 when there is no load. Try revving to 4k rpm in 1st gear and see if it increases to 13+. It should. If it doesn't - RR unit may need attention.

ECU or ECM - best idea is to swap it to another ZMR.
Ignition coil - use a multimeter.
Bank angle sensor - located near headlight. Take it out and shake it vigorously. It should make a slight tik tik sound as if a small ball is held underneath. Also, the bike shouldn't start without it.
O2/Lambda filament - near the exhaust pipe's joint on the engine. See if it has gone white.

Can I do it on my own or do we need special instruments in which case I'll have to cart the bike to Delhi as there are no trustworthy mechs near my place.
Basic tools and gadgets. Multimeter, spanners, pliers, knives/blades, insulation tape etc would be needed.
And patience.

Even if bank angle sensor is disconnected, bike will run perfect except for malfunction light.

Edit - Is bike starting and running fine? Is the issue only with instrument cluster ?

Shreeni0403-the bike is dead as a dodo! Except for the sound of the fuel pump, it doesn't do anything. Divya- I'm gonna spend the weekend and try to work on this, one thing at a time. Hopefully, should isolate and rectify the problem.
Where is the RR unit located? The cluster of wires under the fuel tank is scary! Never done such a electrical job before. But I'm gonna have a go at it anyway. I trust myself more than those cut-n-yank hammer-happy mechs!!
Will keep you guys posted.

That small aluminium thing with multiple lines near top portion of rear right shock absorber is RR unit.

Before doing any circus, can you please confirm if you are getting spark in spark plug ?

So how am I gonna check for the spark if the self is just not firing? Any other way out?

1. Open the self starter assy from the right handlebar and spray Zorrik/WD40. Wipe the area clean. Attempt cranking the bike.
2. There are many desi ways to check if spark plug is firing.

Below is a tutorial that explains the whole process in detail. It is informative. Have a look.

Sorry didn't mean to hurt you but that should be your first step!

Self not firing meaning, self start motor not spinning?

No worries bro .
That is right. The self-starter motor is not spinning. Hence no way I can determine if I'm getting a spark or not. Is there any other way?
