Bro checked the wiring connections. But the smell is clearly of oil. The service guy said if radiator is blocked then bike will not start. So issue of radiator is ruled out. He just told me to leave the bike there for 2 more days but since i have college, i refused. So still the problem remains unkown

Yes, it is meant to be like that only.
      innocence?

I have changed the stock oil with Shell AX7 semi synthetic oil a few days ago. Didn't notice any change during rides in city traffic. But the oil showed its charm during the 200km run on NH7 this evening. The engine was ultra smooth beyond 80kmph mark upto 105. This was not the case in stock oil. The only vibrations that were felt was of the foot pegs. Thank you guyz for reviewing the oils and helping me choose the right oil. Now lets see how long it retains its charm.

Decided on what tires to go for?
I am planning to get the PSD 110. But it will look good only without the mudguard. Have anyone tried retrofitting any Pulsar/R15 like tyre huggers on our angels?

        • Riding Experience:

          1. Riding(Sitting) Comfort: Hell Ya !!! No more pain at the wrists like my beloved R15 v2 on the jam packed Bangalore streets. Those who travel daily to Whitefield would easily understand the pain . Mission partly accomplished

          2. Pillion comfort: Hell Ya again !! My wife who was literally mad at me for seeing off our R15 was so happy when i reached home in the evening & took her for a ride !!! Mission Fully accomplished Thank you so much ZMR, my decision paid off & you got my head saved.. LOL

          3. Smoothness: Mmmm.. well not ofcourse as smooth as my beloved R15 V2. Not even near. There is noticeable engine resonance which is causing the vibration at foot pegs essentially. This is a bit of a setback for me as it is impacting my confidence for riding as fast I used to ride my R15. Clocking 100 KMPH in R15 was unnoticeable due to the smoothness. But with ZMR I felt as if is reminding me again n again about speed !! (Good in a way though!! ) May be it is the R15 after effect & may be I would get used to ZMR soon too. Nonetheless, as they say, u get some & u lose some. So I would take it. Atleast considering that it is a long stroke bike. I though hope that the vibrations don't increase in future.

          4. Pick up: Yeah, ZMR feels quite torque-y at low revs particularly & I love that ! This is very helpful within the city & This is where my all new ZMR scores above R15 in terms of engine output !

          5. Handling: So far not as confident with it as i used to be with R15 in the city traffic. I used to race past others in traffic due to the confidence from the sporty riding position with R15. But not the same case with ZMR though. But then i am still loving a steady ride on ZMR. It is kind of cool. No more hurrying up. Ride steady, Ride Safe & most importantly reach home fresh !!! I am loving it in a way !!

          6. Suspension : Very Smooth. Much better than R15 even though it is not Mono. I can safely take my pregnant wifey for a weekend evening ride on ZMR for sure.

          7. Braking: Front disk is good enough. But rear is not really that efficient. To be honest i really cant get as confident at high speeds as I was on my R15. Additionally the rear disk makes some screeching noise the moment some dust particles are there on the disk. I got it on the very 3rd day itself !! Something I never experienced with my R15 in 18 months

          8. Lights: Oh no, very poor. Gotta change the stupid 35W bulb to a 55 W asap.

          9. Body Parts: Feels kinda cheap plastic. But then its HMC. Therefore tough to expect anything better than the stock.

          10. Others: Badly missing an engine kill switch Even badly a 6th gear (Infact I keep searching for the 6th due to old habits J ) The real time mileage meter hardly seems to be of any utility. But the digital watch is a big plus.

          ODO: 450 KM so far.

Overall experience: Good. Infact very good due to the comfort & torque factors. I am sure it would make me happier when i take it for some long rides post the first 2 servicing.

            Congrats on your ZMR.

Regarding smoothness, Bike is pretty new and the engine will take time to set in. This engine is known to be one of the most refined in indian motorcycles. Vibes from fairing can be solved with a double side adhesive tape.

And..Congrats on the good news of becoming father! All the best.

Thanks Bro & Yep the engine is more refined than quite a few other brands. Just that i need to get used to the vibration part. It isnt too much really. But yeah the old R15 exp is causing the difference. Let me wait till the second service. If the vibrations persist, i would look forward to doing some mods.

Refinement? Wait till your second service or 2.5k kms. Hit the highway and then you'll notice the nirvana. Let the engine components bed in first!

It feels so very nice to be a part of this community & I just thought of posting on the event of getting my first ZMR on 15th Jan. I had been riding my R15 V2 for nearly 1.5 years, but had to replace it as am gonna be a father & I needed an equally good bike with much better pillion comfort. Riding R15 V2 had been a brilliant experience, but then all good things come to an end After much deliberation & a hell lot of reading (I do it for every reasonably big thing I purchase) I decided on ZMR & I don’t think it has disappointed me much till date.

First of all.. Congrats on getting your ZMR.. ZMR is a good choice when it comes to a comfortable ride.. Wait for the machine to complete 2000+kms and then you will find it smoother.. Yes.. vibrations are here and there.. thats due to the full plastic body.. Reason you don't feel confidence is because of the long wheelbase, sleek tires and the weight.. but you will get used to it soon.. you will love the bike more on highways and yeah.. the missing 6th gear is a big drawback on ZMR

Hi, can you please temme which one of the two bikes will win a 1 km drag??? Coz am having d ZMR and my friend is having the R15V1. On drags I usually wins. But he taunts me a lot as he is gonna buy the R15V2. Just coz of curiosity. Coz I know, V2 will take 5.5 seconds approx to reach 60 mark, and ZMR does that in 3.7, but the V2 completes 100 in 12, which the ZMR does in 14.5. So, its a marginal difference of just 0.5 seconds if I am right. Your suggestion will be very helpful. plz
RVM is a good tool to see your buddys losing behind while racing :)

Your suggestion will be very helpful. plz
0-60 in 3.7 under ideal conditions. I never was able to break the 5 sec mark.
Anyways, it'll be a good fight till 60-70 and then the high revving R15 shall take the lead. (under ideal conditions)

But remember, it's not the ride that matters, but the rider!

I takes usually just over 4 seconds to take the bike to 60. Just do the shifts @ 6000rpm (even the 1st to 2nd gear shift)
RVM is a good tool to see your buddys losing behind while racing :)

As Divya pointed out rightly, it's not the ride that matters, it's the rider. But considering that both the riders are equally good (or you can exchange bikes on 1KM return), R15 would win over a 1 KM drag. Reason being the highest speed that could be achieved by R15, due to the 6th gear drag & also due to the fact that R15 is too good at higher revvs (It shows its true power once it goes past 5K RPM). But to start with, ZMR would win hands down in the first 300-400m..

Yamaha RD (The one which taught me what riding is; Can never forget this one)
Bajaj Caliber (The one closest to my heart; I still have it after 15 yrs !)
Yamaha R15 V2.0 (The best I had; Ah it let me become the college hunk I once used to be :) )
