    If you keep your right hand in control you wont. With stock intake you feel the thump at 3k+ RPM but with a free flow intake thump starts a little over 5k+ RPM. So unless you're keeping a watch on the tacho, you will rev more than needed and in turn burn excess fuel.

    if better top end, Does it mean reaching the max speeds in each at lower RPM when compared to stock filters??? or do you mean to say the bike touches higher RPM compared to Stock Filters and hence better top end?? just asking out of curiosity as I did a sprocket mod and noticed that better speed at lower RPM... Which means less strain to the engine at pretty decent speed.
    No bro, try revving the crap out of the engine in first gear with both stock intake and free flow intake. In stock after 6k RPM it starts to get scary, and at close to 8k RPM it feels like the engine will blow up any moment. But with a free flow intake it revs freely till 8k and only after that it starts to get scary. Hope you get the point.

    And about the mileage, I get around 50kmpl when I ride her sanely and around 30kmpl when I rip the crap out of her.

    Say when I had the stock sprockets I topped 129kmph @ somewhere around 8500RPM and after I changed the sprocket to 36 teeth of P220 the top speed was 133kmph @ 8500RPM..

    also tried changing the gears at 5000RPM and noticed that before and after speeds were of +5kmph difference at the same RPM.. this would mean less strain to the engine at attaining a speed of +5kmph when compared to the stock sprockets.. correct me if I am wrong.. I just have a theoretical knowledge
    Cant say thats relaxed, cause at lower revs and while cracking open the throttle it put excess load on the internals.

    EDIT->

    Even at 8k+ the bike's vibration free. My regular pillion was the one to point it out cause pre mod, when he rests his foot there, when I crack open the throttle his feet would start to feel tinglish, but post mod, the vibes completely vanished according to him. This too I believe is due to the torque being reduced by the mod.

      Ok, another noob-ish question. Aren't Bybre brakes better in terms of bite? I mean, its a Brembo's sister after all!

      • Hi ashwin,

        Do you own a ZMR or a ZMA? Cos my friend told me free flow airfilters are not good on the ZMR, but best for ZMA coz of the PGMFI system on ZMR

          Mines a ZMA,
          And I dont think it'd be much of an issue to use a free flow filter on a ZMR, especially since it has PGMFi.

          The peculiarity of Honda's PGMFi is that it runs a closed loop at idle & WOT and runs an open loop in between. Meaning bike will run leaner(This is without considering the 10~15% tollerance.) after idle and before WOT i.e run a preset map, which in turn in good for acceleration, cause the leaner the mill, quicker the acceleration. Now coming back to the closed loop part, you wont face any starting/idling issues cause it runs a closed loop at idle meaning it will take reading from sensors and decide AFR, and also you wont face issues while touring at high speeds for long, cause with the throttle at WOT, the closed loop kicks in it adjust AFR based on sensor readings.

          I learnt about this after googling PGMFi, was real curious why PGMFi's such a big thing and after researching about it, I do agree that its one gem of a tech.

And guys who're looking for cheaper alternative, let me know, I can introduce you to a guy, who makes custom filters.

                                And guys, dont wait for anyone's approval, if you feel its apt then go ahead Just keep in mind, that you can use any model as long as you get the flange ID correct. And guys who're looking for cheaper alternative, let me know, I can introduce you to a guy, who makes custom filters.
